Oh dear...does "meaningless drivel " mean "I can't get a quick fix for my problem" ?Or that you lack the tolerance necessary for a full and frank exchange of ideas. In any case it reveals a disappointing contempt for the views of others...and an exchange of views and information is what this forum is usually about.Maybe you disagree with that ?
  2. I led with the proverbial chin on that one, didn't I?
  3. Mrs.Stationmaster is correct...we do. We do,because it will save me the irksome task of having to water the lawn after the Spring granular feed by Green Thumb......an organisation I heartily recommend. Today I have been digging out shed loads of Japanese anemones...the sneakiest and most persistent of plants, with a rooting system designed by Old Nick.A blank canvas....now,what to plant in their stead ?
  4. And here watching and listening to the Easter service from King's College,Cambridge.Wonderful and sublime. If only I could sing like that.Tune in ......or get it on I player ....everyone ! Now the Hallelujah chorus is on,
  5. The Goya of RMWeb in full flow.....reference the "black paintings" in The Prado in Madrid.....bravo!
  6. Is this a "last word" tournament? It was never my intention to "change your mind",Iassure you...that would be akin to me taking on the role of King Canute.
  7. Well then,no more need be said,I can't communicate with a closed mind. This dialogue is at an end.
  8. I'm really sorry Keith but for the life of me I can't understand your logic when you post that it is "not appropriate to describe their models as consistently excellent" when you state that you have no interest in any other Heljan model other than the DC electrics....in other words you have no knowledge of them...you are just aware of their existence,it would seem. You seem to be rather upset, which is a great shame.I would not doubt your passion or committment to LT modelling for one moment but please allow others the space to express their views and interests.
  9. The Woodhead electrics are an Olivia's commission in any case and are not mainstream Heljan. If you have no experience of their railbus models, the class 128,the baby Deltics, the NBL type1 and the Beyer Garratt, you have missed a consistently high standard of r-t-r modelling. I think,if you reread what I posted, you will see that I excepted classes 76&77 from my comments. Most of us know the glaring shortcomings of these Heljan models usually outperform models of other manufacturers in their haulage capacity.
  10. I believe 34008 was the last WC pacific released.....other than the sound 34040,which is a cracking model and the first to be made with loco & tender semi- permanently coupled and which also runs well on my DC only rig.Padstow was released in 2008.
  11. And as a postscript to the reference to Olivia's Woodhead electrics, let us hope that Heljan make a better job of it than that.Sorry that there is a degree of dissension over this.Remember quite a few will buy this and run it happily on two rails towing a Bachmann LT wagon set and brake van and....if it lives up to its promise.....will be well happy just with that. The hobby needs the unusual and the antique....and just remember the take up on Bachmann's Wainwright C which confounded us all.I have every confidence this will be a winner, given the consistent excellence of Heljan's current models.
  12. Look on Kernow's website. All G.G.'s on at £169.99 now.
  13. A sense of proportion ? Just been to the local post office (yes, they still exist) to post two cards to Long Island USA. Cost for each £1.28.Distance to be travelled= about 3500 miles. Yesterday received appointment at local hospital, cost £0.50. Distance travelled 3 miles.....and the logic in the pricing structure ? Never mind "business reasons", just apply the Ancient Greek stuff. Having a break from the stormy waters of the P2 thread, where the use of that phrase sent my Meldrew hormones into orbit a couple of days ago ,followed by a joust with a couple of LNER types trained in interrogation techniques by the Assad regime.Vowed "don't go there" to myself.I remember an Australian lady talking of "the murky world of model railways" in a thread hastily locked by Andy Y a couple of years ago..I now have an appreciation of her sentiments. So...to calmer climes. Thursday being Elizabeth's morning in Fitness League....aka ladies who sometimes lunch....to the loft to test my recently acquired Hornby Black 5 in LMS guise....a sweetly attractive well mannered model..looks to my eyes better than BR versions. Then out into the garden and a wonderful surprise in the form of a healthy number of bees buzzing around Pulmonaria and blue Rhododendrons..Next to deal with a crop of Dandelions and Valerian which grow in inaccessible cracks in paths and walling joints and paved areas.A job for the gas canister fuelled flame gun. A great tool this but they can go wrong. Two years ago, whilst using one,the control valve came apart in use and set alight.I fortunately dropped it before immolating myself. It fell into the pond, where it burned under water for some time with catastrophic results for the resident frog.......boiled alive, poor thing! Felt guilty. But then as they say it was him or me. Take care wherever you are and stay safe. .....Ian
  14. So....yet another air(smoothed)head..There is no known cure. There are two specialists on this forum who may treat the condition....Toboldlygo and Grahamuzz. They will be able to ease your pain.
  15. The implication is entirely yours.
  16. Which is no consolation whatsoever to the punter who has saved his hard-earned pennies ,ordered in good faith and come away with broken promises.Business model notwithstanding,it is far better to get the model you have actually ordered, rather than be treated with cynical disregard I think we are far too tolerant of this kind of nonsense....we are the consumers when all is said and done and not business analysts.
  17. I think we've been here before, haven't we? An old, familiar ring to the story...again and again.Hard to say which is responsible for the confusion,Hornby or Hattons taking a gamble on the actual numbers they'll receive.
  18. Totally agree.Ordered new Bachmann 40, 32-481 Friday afternoon ,lower price than any of the competition.Delivered 1st.class recorded ,post free on Sat.morning. Gets no better than that, does it ?
  19. They ARE correct, believe it or not.See the separate topic on 32-481.On the front cover of Gavin Morrison's "The Power Of The 40's" colour pic.of D369 with white handrails !
  20. Go to the thread for 32-481.I have posted the link for two colour head shots of the fullbox prototypes .That should ease your mind.Bachmann have it correct.
  21. The achievement of the "Orange Army" would undoubtedly make I.K.Brunel glow with pride. In two months ,in the teeth of the most appalling conditions, they have restored the civilising benefit of the railway to Devon and Cornwall, which is a large chunk of the U.K. If Her Maj.logs in to RMWeb,would she please consider the unsung heroes of Network Rail in her Birthday Honours List. It will be well received .....and richly deserved.Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
