On signal matters Mike has been a great help and along with the craftsmanship of Stephen Freeman this beauty, based on one at Shrewsbury, will be fitted later this week. The approach to the fiddle yard will be greatly enhanced.
Looking forward to seeing this masterpiece in situ....
Didn't Neptune have a hand in it?

...........There's still the self-flagellation involved with the installation of point rodding and signal pulleys to come.........
And all the telegraph wires?
-
It's uncanny, you can always tell if a train I coming by looking ar those signals!
They do complete the scene which is a bit of a worry- is there anything left to do?

Great shots! Is the backscene behind the station actually the other side of the layout? It works well in thae last shot to give a sense of depth

Including those pointy trees!

A rare glimpse of the Finchings at Brent in later years as they are photographed on the last day of train services at Brent (3/10/64):
Flora is instantly recognizable standing on the platform, as her neat fashion sense hasn't changed much since 1947, but it would seem that Minnie has let herself go a bit and turned into a bit of a bag lady.
Sadly Mike Roper's flower beds have gone to seed- not a lupin to be seen,

Hello Mike
The proposals from the DRM ePublishing Board were for a new eMag (of unspecified page quantity, page size or any general outline of intended content) to appear every two months. There was a hope to increasing frequency in due course. That was to be 'free to user' and paid for by advertising, similar to the way at least one US on-line magazine is published (as noted above)..
The other proposal was to move the 'Have Your Say' letters to a connected 'moderated forum'.
Que sera?

I have learnt so much from Have Your Say by reading those sometimes long winded but very well informed contributions. The 200 word limit did not permit such depth of detail- and if the prose was too impenetrable it was easy to skip to the next.
The recent product reviews of tools and gadgets was a recent welcome addition and I don't know how many enjoyable hours I have spent watching your video choices with the mandatory cup of tea - videos not always easily accessible on YouTube.
I think I have read every issue since the start and am very grateful to all the team who gave their time to get it right. I looked at all the ads, just because they were there and usually relevant- The proposed e Magazine will only happen if the advertisers know somebody will look at their ads- luckily none of them will be from Payment Protection Compensation or Double Glazing..... I hope

I shall follow MREmag wherever it goes, as had been said before, it has been an essential fixture of like for so many years though sadly the fixes will be less frequent. The problem ahead is how to let everybody know when an issue is available as the website has been dismantled - unless all potential readers are directed to a site like this for information. I assume the domain name can be transferred to the new eMagazine so can an information page be constructed prior to the start-up of the new enterprise?

Would it not be easier and perhaps cheaper to change the wheels?
Agreed- but I have recently been tempted to buy a lot oh Hornby coaches, and only 2 metres of track needs replacing!

I shall be laying some Peco replacements asap for old C&L track in order to loose the annoying clunking of Hornby coach wheels bouncing on the chairs on the curves! This is what retailers do with any new improved product, give people the reason to buy it
Try playing golf, every January the club makers bring out the latest drivers which all hit straighter and longer than the ones they are replacing, golf balls are the same (though much cheaper)
There will be lots of railway modellers champing at the bit to be the first to replace their track on their layouts, and how long before the first layout appears in RM with the new track !!
-
I thought he said 'parsnip'.
That could be the root cause of the problem......
-
But Agnetha really is back-- great album last year!
-
'Oh Minnie ! Look it's King Charles the second from Old Oak Common'
'Oh Flora, what have Swindon done in their paintshop, it's a disgrace and needs mentioning to that Felix Pole chap we know'
'And to think that the same paintshop did such a good job for the NRM version- - all shiny and the right shade of green'

A very early Santa Special heading for Sweet City........

SWMBO says I can run it in, do you a shoot and then put it back in the box.
Is this what Mr Warburton has been patiently waiting to see ? Will he wait until Christmas to see it again I wonder.

'Last night a large hole appeared in the station platform at Brent, in the South Hams area of Devon. The police are looking into it.'So I see. Thanks for setting my mind at rest, as I have been worried ever since I saw this hastily dug grave at about the same time as the Finchings suddenly disappeared from the area.....

This spam driver was confused to see a signal that wasn't on his list with no arms- was that a virtual SPAD?

Or the infamous Womens' Weekly "Find a friend" coach holidays.
Seriously, you'd have to be desperate.....
I can't help chuckling at the late and much missed Victoria Wood when I see a mention of Woman's Weekly - and she sounded desperate!!

To celebrate the occasion have a caption contest on me.
I had expected more from the Woodland Scenics waterfall kit.......

Evening Mike, as you're the new Finching Sisters agent, will they be appearing at the Kingsbridge Show this weekend . I've heard there are extra coaches, not Hawkworths unfortunately, been added to the branch B set to cover the extra likely demand.
I hope that won't clash with the Ugborough show, I'm told they wanted to see Mr Roper's exhibit.
Obviously Mr Roper will be too busy to go himself!

A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

It is indeed my attempt ro recreate Limpley Stoke, but having laid all the trackwork some years I am struggling with the buildings and scenery- that's why I am addicted to ANTB, for inspiration. I have developed a displacement activity of fettling my rolling stock and Facerail !
