Another scene this time from Brief Encounter.
Dammit Cedric, I've trodden in something!

Ideal for Spam.......That friendly Dutchman has got a lot to answer to.

Not a Castle or a Spam is it.
How on earth can the driver see the guard waving his green flag, or pick up his token for single line working. At least he can't fall out of the window when the train tilts !

Is this what SKY mean by a ' boxed set ' ?I do have a soft spot for a brown vehicle...
Lets see what the postman brings.
Do we get to see some horses too......
-
Not by me.
Even if just on one side?

pAs promised we see a Castle hauled parcels featuring Mulgabill's Ocean Mail coach.
Ooh lovely!
It reminds me of the advertisements in the Basset Lowke catalogue of the 1950's ! I have the transfers, but would I be forgiven for putting them on my Hawksworth version in chocolate and cream ?

The flanges on the rear radial wheels look finer- I hope it is not just an illusion so it should run better on C+L track.

Another caption contest with what is Mike Roper saying to the airman with wreckage all around him.
It's no good looking at that hut, sir : it isn't there in 1947........

Much nicer coaches on Rob's railway ......

Quite impressive to shift the best part of 500 tons - 360 tons of stock and 128 tons of Spam dead weight on a 1 in 70 gradient with minimal fuss.
I think someone had taken some of the spam out of the tin- it wasn't heavy enough to pull 11 coaches when half full....

Takes me back to seeing Lydham Manot in the livery at Paignton but she had red plates too. Anyway back to the Hall.
Can I use the footbridge yet? I'm fed up waiting for all thes trains to go past, and I want to chat to Mr Warburton about proving dough.

Rob is only reflecting that it used to be a daily occurrence...
I stand corrected. What do we know in Somersed - but they could roster a more old fashioned engine!

These Southern drivers are taking a very long time to get familiar with this route. I think their arms are withering....

Wow! Doesn't stuff grow quickly in South Devon- Gulf Stream obviously. I fancy walking my dog behind the station now-- come on, Tilly!Had a look at my scenics today and added some growth using various materials from several manufacturers. I particularly like the foliage from Heki.
The local postman, Peter Hazell, is visiting today.

Very realistic people, but a little over scale....As it happens I have photographic evidence of the culprit.

http://www.mremag.com/index.php/component/banners/click/8Far be it for me to be facetious but the grass the other side of the railway has been well trampled by various railway photographers over the years ,much to the land owners disgust. Will look into it Stu.
.......... CWith their sepia & white cameras

That last photo is a wonderful overview of the Devon countryside. The grass looks so natural. I don't thin you've shown this angle before, but you can see a large sink hole behind the station. Lovely Grange too..

I think I prefer the coloured version.. I think sepia photos date back to the late 18 hundreds and early 19 hundreds and B&W from very early 1900s to the mid 1960s and colour from there on. Therefore GWR pics around the 2nd world war would have been B&W or possibly early colour. BUT for a layout built in 2000s it perhaps should be colour unless one is copying photos of the era that the layout is set in, a bit like I do with Kingsbridge Regis and I have done in the past with Wencombe. I think the era that ANTB is set in would be B&W or early colour.
I find the sepia less harsh on the eye than B&W and gives the impression of antiquity- which is the aim of our esteemed period photographer!Tend to agree, sepia belongs to the Victorians. Mais chacon a son gout!
Brian.

Mr Warburton will be wishing you hadn't taken his umbrella away later this week. Maybe he has been standing there just to get a good view of that lovely Grange before he goes home. That man Warburton is still waiting....
A NE van is pressed into service as a parcels van.

It won't when you see the rolling stock behind it....
Yes please! If you want a Grange photo shoot why don't you just ask...
With lots of coaches: in all the sizes and all of the colours!

I have the first release of the Adams radial and I use early C&L track. She runs well on the straight but the rear radial wheel clicks on the chairs on curves (but no worse than my Hornby coaches). Some time back on this posting their had been some correspondence on the Adams Radial running on C & L track and the locos deeper flanges, I am interested in the SR olive green version, but not if there are problems with C & L bullhead track(code 75) rather than wade through 60+pages on this posting does anyone have this loco running on C & L track? and have their been any issues?. Any info is always welcome
A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.
