  1. So, an update on the other side.....
  2. So felt it unfair not to post a couple of pics, branch line and station area at the start of the year and then towards the end....... And finally the BLS managed to get to the buffers..... Cheers
  3. Wow, a whole year and not one post!!!!!! To some extent that can be explained by having an extension done on the house and the subsequent decorating........time in the shed was somewhat at a premium. Still, I have been back in there again over the the last few months and slight progress is being made.......hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon. Had a bit of a scare just before Christmas with my Prodigy Express transformer literally blowing up at midnight with a large bang and being thrown into darkness, still Trident Trains (local shop) kindly tested a few locos just to make sure the decoders were OK and fortunately all is good. Hopefully the layout is all ok Just thought I'd wish you all Health and Happiness in 2024 and another year of great modelling 😁
  4. Yep loving the 90's feel, looks like you cover similar era's to myself. As I've said a number of times, this is one of my favourite layouts on here Nigel and many thanks for continuing to share pics and videos. Happy New Year to you and your family
  5. And an inspirational video
  6. Well they do come down pretty regularly don't they? Often going past my house on a Saturday at the same time as the lunchtime kick-off in the premier league.........hence if I haven't checked they are running I get a "sounds like you missed the Tesco Express!!!" shout from within the house 🤣
  7. Hi Nigel, may I ask what the actual road surface is please and how are you making the pavements and kerbs? I'm just about to start similar features and being in a shed wanted to avoid paper/card stuff really and obviously reduce the number of joints as much as possible. Many thanks in advance 😎
  8. I did speak to Richard at Warley about the fan colour but he wasn't completely sure either, I thought generally refurbished 50's had a yellow fan but the pics he had of 50017 at the GCR and it's red, let the discussion begin 🤣
  9. Good luck Ian this weekend although I'm sure you don't need it 😉
  10. The tones were lovely Jim, shame I had literally parked my car on the driveway having got back from the exhibition at Bentley Legends. I walked through the door to Carolyn saying "I think Jim has just been past" I said "I know I heard him" 😎
  11. A nice selection of pictures there Chris. Good to see East Anglian images as it is part of the scene I rarely get to, I travel a fair bit and keep thinking of doing a similar thread so I shall keep an eye on this and see how you go 😃
  12. Lovely images as always Nigel, as I think I have mentioned before this is one of my favourite layouts on RMWeb and always brings a smile to me face when you post stuff and gives me a little incentive to get back on with mine. Thanks 😎
  13. Thanks for the tones Jim, TBH I hadn't gone out to look as all the locos that had gone down there recently were the Colas ones but I heard the engine working up the hill, opened the back door and Carolyn went "That definitely sounds like Jim" 😁
  14. Nice one Ian...........no modelling here the Mrs decided we need to extend the house!!!!!!! So it's nice seeing progress elsewhere 😀
  15. Nice to see you and your layout back Stu ☺️ Be interested as an old Oxford boy to know what it's working was to get to OC in the first place 😉
  16. Almost reminds me of Jed the basher from the midlands (sadly passed away I believe) but I never saw Jed in orange trousers LOL!!!!!
  17. My condolences Nigel to you and your family. I lost my Father in April last year after a grand innings of 92. We too enjoyed over 50 years of rail enthusiasm together (he even manged to blag me a cab ride in my last 50 for haulage) but it's been a hard 9 months without him. Take care and take each day as it comes remembering all the good times, it's those memories that have helped me!
  18. Have I missed something in all the pages? Is there a deposit option or is it only pay in full?
  19. Oh Lord........this is a good day, thanks Accurascale 😄
  20. Well The Bell Inn looks ace, thank you. Maybe not around the harbour but perhaps I won't need to hide this too much 🙂 So considering the harbour, acrylics and the paint on and wipe off method didn't seem to really work for me So I painted a general base coat of And then armed with these I did a lot of dry brushing to end up with this I also applied a few greens towards the bottom and with a few upright posts added ended up with this Even now I am not completely convinced but my skills with the acrylics really seemed miles away from what I have watched other on here achieve with ease and so what I have is probably the best I feel I can currently apply. Any advice would be very welcome 🙂
  21. Don't panic the pub definitely won't be staying there, that said it's probably got to go somewhere as it was one of my first presents from my fiancee 😀
  22. Why thank you Gents, that's very kind of you to comment so positively 🙂 So I guess the fishing harbour was the next block construction I attempted...... the seabed needed rising first to match the industrial harbour just to the left of this one, I realise I could have said it was controlled by locks but my head just couldn't get around 2 different water levels 🤣 Raised seabed and some approximate walling Then it was time to look at the larger branch line that I had always envisaged. I'll explain the fiddle yard to this in later posts but the idea is that it goes up an inline behind the mainline Planning, planning and plastercloth Thanks for popping by 😀
