  1. Sorry, the froth has infiltrated the container and corroded the mechanisms.
  2. I am finding vessel finder to be unreliable. It has shown the ship docked, then sailing south, then stationary way to the north, then sailing again to the south, then docked, then back stationary in the north. At this point I am giving up tracking it!
  3. So they reopened the line late Wednesday. Impressive considering the freezing conditions we are having right now. One thing that did change was the location that the lead unit left the track. Initially they said it had derailed at the exit of the lower tunnel, now they are saying that it derailed after passing under the Trans-Canada, which is between the upper and lower tunnels. Honestly this location makes a lot more sense considering were UP 5359 ended up.
  4. Just found this online. http://www.bst-tsb.gc.ca/eng/enquetes-investigations/rail/2019/r19c0015/r19c0015.asp
  5. Here is a photo of CEFX 1040 and UP 5359 taken on Friday, February 1, 2019.
  6. The train was a westbound heading down the 'Big Hill' into Field. Crew had indeed just taken the train over; I don't know where, maybe Lake Louise, maybe Stephen, which is the station at the top of the hill and can be accessed by a side road off the Trans-Canada. UP 5953 is wrecked adjacent to the Trans-Canada, between the two spiral tunnels, while the lead unit(s) were at the exit of the lower spiral tunnel.
  7. I was up in Banff on Friday and one of the trains I photographed was eastbound train 302, led by CEFX 1040 followed by UP 5359. I have seen photos of 5359 among the wrecked cars and have heard that 1040 was also involved.
  8. Since you are in Guelph you would probably know more about this than someone who lives in Calgary. VIA had plans to operate RDC's to Sarnia and even ran a test or two. What has happened to this? Have the plans been dropped?
  9. It feels like I blinked on Friday and now it is Sunday night. The weekend always seems to pass so quickly.

  11. It certainly is a beautiful part of the country. I have driven through it and taken the train, although in both cases I was heading from Ontario to Newfoundland. I now live in Western Canada and there is a totally different type of beauty out here. For anyone who has never been to Canada I recommend the visit, although in some parts the train service is bad, if it exists at all so don't count on getting around by train.
  12. My apologies, I totally forgot about those units.
  13. When I took the Ocean, back in 2004, the train did not cross the river but stayed on the south side. We did however have to reverse at Charny.
  14. Having ridden on both the old stainless steel fleet and the Renaissance fleet I prefer the old equipment. The trip on the Renaissance was from Truro, NS to Montreal, QC and was one of the most uncomfortable trains I have ever ridden on in my life! They are actually class 643, but OC Transpo used them on the O-Train until 2015.
  15. Why could you have not posted this two weeks ago? I had been trying to remember the name of this show for about a year but was having no luck. Finally figured it out two weeks ago! I am guessing that there will be plenty of Silver Fox D600's coming on ebay once the Kernow model has been delivered. I must admit I had looked at getting one but never did as I have too many projects on the go as it is.
  16. Well if I get it off Google, and I have thought about it, how would I know it is a genuine Cornish pasty? The alternative would be for Kernow to ship a few along with my D600, but I would hate to see what condition they would be in when they arrived here in Western Canada!
  17. Will you guys please stop talking about pasty's? You are making me hungry for one and I don't know how to make them! Plus living in Canada they aren't that common!!! Maybe Kernow will include a recipe with each D600, although if that is the case I don't know if I can wait that long for my model!
  18. Another 86? (Yes I realize that Heljan already did the 86 before). When will someone do one of the earlier locomotives (AL1-AL4)
  19. Thanks to this post I contacted Kernow and paid for my D600. Since ordering it four years ago this month I hadn't received any further updates except for the newsletter and this thread. What really helped was that my credit card was carrying a negative balance so the damage was a lot less than it would have been otherwise!
  20. I guess I will have to wait another year hoping that Bachmann, or someone else, will do one of the early AL classes (1 through 4). Was hoping Bachmann would at least do the AL1 since they did the AL5.
  21. Things got bad on VIA 2 on Christmas Day. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/via-rail-stranded-spy-hill-1.4464542 At least the people of Spy Hill, Saskatchewan saved the day.
  22. I have seen so many articles about them that unfortunately it has become a blur.
  23. This video has just been released of the Calgary LRT train leaving the Tuscany station, which is the end of the line, but unfortunately heading the wrong way. http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1121009731588 Met the driver a few months before this happened. Very nice person and had been driving trains for many years. It has been reported that the driver lost situational awareness and thought they were at Crowfoot, the preceding station.
  24. Yes I saw that. I want to make it clear this is not one of the ones my friends knew! The two my friends knew, and I was supposed to have met a few years ago but had to work instead, were the first ones named.
  25. I really, really wished I had not been eating when I clicked on that link...
