  1. there are some truly wonderful models here  would it be possible to produce a Large Mill building/industrial building taller than those that are already availible?

    Hi,

We already have parts for the walls of the mill. The warehouse/factory wall panels come in 3 flavors depending on your requirements.

We also have a chimney kit:

There is no dedicated mill/factory kit at the moment but we are going to be expanding the range quite significantly this and next year. I will see what I could do about producing an out of the box mill bundle. As with other bundles it would be modular and expandable. You could have as many floors as you would require. We also do have floor parts so you could then add interior details to it.

    Best regards

  2. Just wondering if there is any likelihood of interior wall and fittings to go with your 00 gauge rang of buildings.

This might be a tall order given the existing internal structural items, but it would br nice to section up the smaller buildings with doors , walls, booking halls and fireplaces and general station fittings.

    regards

    Hi,

We have started thinking and working on interior fittings for buildings few months ago starting with the interior for the lineside office. We are planning to do a range of interior for stations at some point in the future but it won't happen for a while unfortunately.

    Best regards

    Jakub

  3. I’m part way through building the LCut large Signal Box that I purchased at the Doncaster show.

So far so good, goes together nicely, good detail and very sturdy. There’s not much in the way of instructions but to be honest you don’t really need them if you built anything before.

A couple of piccies if the work so far.

Looking great! Apologies about the instructions, we are working on them. Most of the newer kits have much more detailed instructions. Example being O gauge signal boxes such as B 70-07L

I still need to go through all of the older instructions and update them.

  4. I found some great pictures of Swanwick Signal Box (the prototype for kit SR55c) 2min and 30s into this video :

Thank you! This video is great. Some really lovely pictures of other signal boxes that are giving me ideas!

  5. Thank you for making so many of the structures on my layout!

Any chance of a model of a large LSWR type-4 signal box with the brick central panel such as at St Denys, similar to the boxes that survive at Woolston or Haslemere?

I am glad our kits were useful to you!

We are going to be expanding the signal box series later this year. I am currently planning a more northern signal box (possibly LSWR) and something for the east of England. We have platforms in O gauge and few other bits to finish before we can start on the signal boxes.

  6. Thanks for sharing your forthcoming releases with us.

Is there a 7mm Midland footbridge in the works? I'd have one as soon as it is released.

Yes it will be released in a slightly narrower version but we will release span expansion packs to go with it. I have 2 other models to release in 7mm first (medium good shed and a double track engine shed) but we will be working on releasing all footbridges in 7mm soon.

  7. Any thoughts of producing some of these excellent products in N Gauge? I'm sure there'd be a demand for them!

Unfortunately we are not going to be doing them in N gauge. There were some plans to do N gauge while ago but for now they have been abandoned. I am sorry about that.

  8. We are working on an Easter/LNER footbridge as well. It will be similar in style to the Epping Station Victorian footbridge. I haven't got particularly good photos of it but I have designs kindly donated by a fellow modeller.

  9. Looks a typical Southern bridge, just like the one we have at Ropley on the Mid-Hants. That is brick with wooden steps.

    Roy

    Hi Roy,

Thank you, yes that is based on the one in Ropley. We decided to make a slightly different one as there is quite a few concrete ones on the market already.

  10. I shall look forward to that.  Had a play with the roof slates this evening: first seven courses in place and all's well.  It's actually curiously therapeutic and the visual improvement significant. Barring any operator-induced errors (tired eyes, fat fingers, red wine, etc) I will post an image once application is complete!

Just a thought: any scope for some of the smaller Exmouth Junction Concrete Works pre-fabricated buildings?  I am thinking of some of the slightly larger structures - yard buildings, small offices, etc, - rather than platelayers' huts, though the tool shed that usually accompanies the standard southern region platelayers' hut would be nice.

    Best wishes,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

I am glad to hear its going well! What I found that any errors tend to blend in/disappear once you paint it.

At the moment we are not planning anything like that. We have talked about more modern image/concrete structures some time ago but I cannot say what will come out if just yet. We have made 2 concrete signal boxes for the Southern region while ago as a bespoke project so we do have some basic experience with it at least.

  11. Thanks for the reply, will you guys be going to Guildex at Telford in September?

    ATB,

    Martyn

    Hi Martyn,

Yes we will be going to Guildex. We are also booking the Kettering show for next year.

  12. Morning all,

My  - beautifully packaged - parcel of bits arrived this morning safely, with everything in tact.  The roofing slates are seriously impressive: they will save a lot of pain with paper and scissors.

Fabulous service - thanks very much indeed!

    Onwards and upwards,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for letting me know, glad it arrived safe. I am looking forward to hearing what you think of it when its all finished!

  13. Hi,

The footbridge looks great, is it actually based on a real one ?

    All the best,

    Martyn.

    Hi Martyn,

Yes it is based on the footbridge in Bridgnorth. There are few very minor differences on the balustrades but its a very close representation.

  14. Looking forward to the arrival of the roof tiling strips (ordered this afternoon) and some other bits various for a small project I am fiddling about with.  I am also loving the LSWR/SR platform mounted signal box kit: what a fantastic little model...

    attachicon.gif20170628_215846.jpg

Beautifully thought out and a real pleasure to build.  Even the bits I thought might prove tricky have been entirely painless; I just don't build very quickly, though I get there in the end.  I have also been amazed at just how sturdy the structure, even in this partially completed state, is. I'm a bit torn now: cream and green (which is what it was purchased to be) or white with black trim and rather dirtier...hmmm.....

A real winner: more quirky Southern Region stuff, ,please.

    Best wishes,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Thank you very much! I am glad to hear you like it. Next structure for SR will be a footbridge of the type with brick plinths. Sadly it will not have a corrugated iron roof.

  15.

The builders sheets look very nice and make modifications so much more easy to achieve, an order in next week!

Posters were asking about the glue used, and I have found after several kits the best way for me is to use PVA and superglue, one side of he joint is coated with PVA and the other superglue. they react together and the superglues grabs hard and appears to accelerate the PVA setting as well, The trick come from aeromodellers were strong repair joints are required in a few minutes.

The PVA acts as a filler in effect, and the combination is stronger than each glue on it's own.

Also I find water based paints react with the laser card in fine details like the glazing bars, causing expansion, and distortions, that do clear up as it dries, but to stop it happening at all, I now paint the delicate parts with diluted Rustins Cellulose Lacquer, that makes it impossible for the water based paint to soak in. The surface can still take any type of paint, but not stains. Stains seem to distort the card like water does, but again it dries all right and goes back tight. if stain is used , you can then lacquer it before other painting.

    Stephen.

Thank you very much for the tips! I am now starting to include more general information in the manual on what types of glue and paints to use with our product. Thank you for the tip with superglue. I will test it out myself at some point!
