  1. Introducing LCUT creative building materials

Due to popular demand we are launching a series of building materials made with the same high quality fiberboards we use for our models. Starting with roof tile strips and two flavours of brickwork sheets. Available in OO and O gauge. More building materials to come.

  2. As an addition to the post about GWR footbridge in OO gauge we developed inserts to increase the span of the footbridge:

Introducing GWR footbridge in OO gauge

We would like to introduce a new addition to the line of footbridges. Work also has started on both the LMS and GWR footbridge in O gauge and they will be available in coming months.

  3. I have to say that footbridge is simply stunning!  Can't wait to see a GWR or Southern in 7mm!

Thank you! We are working on a GWR version now. It will be based on the Bridgnorth footbridge. After we have that in OO we will start resealing both of them to O gauge.

  4. Having bought three LCUT kits a while ago I finally started construction yesterday on the small engine shed and I have to say they are wonderful. The only issue I have is one of the end doors is missing so I will fire off an email today.

It is lovely to have kits that have been well thought out and available at what I consider a very good price.

    Roy

    Dear Roy,

I am glad to hear you like the kit! And apologies about the part, I have already replied to your email.

    Best regards

    Jakub

  5. Here are pics of my scratchbuilt OO gauge LMS/LNWR station building using L-Cut creative laser cut valancing, windows, doors and stone window/door surrounds! I hope I have done your excellent product justice!

    Ian

    Hi Ian,

Really well done! Its incredibly good, the level of detail, the finish are all second to none. Really happy to see windows and the valence fitted well!

  6. Hi Jakub

Looking at B 00-29 the North light loco shed. Would it be possible to obtain an extra set of roof sections to make the shed 3 tracks wide and what sort of price range would I be looking at for this inc the shed?

    Many thanks

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

It is possible to build it as a 3 road shed. If you could drop me a line at contact@lcut.co.uk I can take it from there. I don't have the exact quote right now but it would not be more than additional £10 on top of cost of the shed.

  7. Thanks Jakub. I have just placed an order for several LCC windows and doors with the stone surrounds and will scratch-build my station using stone effect plasticard.

Thank you for your order! If you need any help from us don't hesitate to get in touch.

  8. Good afternoon,

I am looking at buying the LCC B 00-00 Station, but replacing all of the window/door sets for the stone variety. However, I have noticed that they are not interchangeable due to the size of the provided windows/doors and the replacement stone variety. eg The kit uses windows 02-24, but the ones that fit the stone surrounds are larger (02-31). This would mean re-measuring the whole model and trying to work out which parts I need to keep the overall dimensions the same for the roof to fit etc. Would it be too much of a pain for you to do a Ver 2 of the station but with stone surrounds, stone corners or even better, the whole building in stone instead of brick? One of my other ideas was to use two kits (plus extra items) to make a Settle & Carlisle type station as below - any help to achieve this would be greatly appreciated. Ian

    Hi Ian,

Unfortunately at the moment we are not planning on doing stone buildings. We do have few elements for them but no ready made panels. The reason we don't make them is that we wouldn't be able to make the stonework random and at the same time modular. If we made so that they follow the modular modelling system they would not look very good. I am happy however to assist you in building a station from existing parts. Let me know through contact@lcut.co.uk if you need any assistance.

  9. Introducing O gauge retaining wall

Slightly modified in design retaining wall system is now available on 7mm scale! After receiving feedback from our customers we have decreased the depth of the inset. While the inset has been reduced (based on popular designs) the lean back of the retaining wall was kept. Available either in single module or a triple pack at a reduced cost per unit.

  10. Love the "house style" of your railway and industrial 7mm scale buildings! Do you have any plans to do terraced houses/pubs/shops?

    Cheers

    Jon Fitness.

Thank you! Yes, we are planning houses/shops etc. We are getting closer now to having an approximate date when we will look into it. We want to make a start next year if that is in our power.

  11. Introducing O gauge small industrial kits

The ever popular small industrial kits have now been rescaled to 7mm scale! They are perfect introductory kit for those looking to get into the LCC Modelling System or as a great way of supplementing your industrial layout.

  12. Hi is there any chance that you will be doing the GWR Station shelter above in 7mm.

    Regards,

    Martyn.

    Hi Martyn,

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes we want to rescale it at some point. It will not be soon unfortunately. The construction of the shelter calls for trimming some of the parts to the height. it is possible with OO because the wall panels are only 1.4mm thick and cuts easily with sharp hobby knife. We would have to use 2.6mm thick panels for the O gauge shelter and those are not so easy to trim. We will introduce it but it will take time because we would have make dedicated lowered panels for it.

  13. I am meaning the building with the big horrid ventilators on the roof. The other building is the electric car shed.

It has changed considerably since then. On the right past the shed is the p-way area where trackwork was assembled and trains for the p-way maintenance were assembled (which the Panniers et al would power).

Thank you. I can see what window type it would need now. I can't promise anything but I will have a look at it.

  14. Just completed the first of a pack of Lcut kits, the small loco shed, very impressed with the quality of the parts in the system. I used an old aero modelling trick for glueing, coating one side of the joint with PVA and the other side with Cyano, makes a well filled very strong joint that sets quickly. I also have spray finished the parts with thinned down dope based sanding sealer, which gives a fine surface that is waterproof, and takes further grey or red car primer sprayed on. The red oxide can be used as the base colour of red brick work.

The Cellulose sealer works well on the window frames, making them a bit stronger stronger than stock..

The price of the packs is also very attractive. The only comment on the design is there are not enough internal bracing parts specified, it needs more and thicker material, like Bristol board, plasticard, perspex, or plywood added for floors etc, especially if interiors are needed as with the Signal Boxes. Perspex works well with PVA on the laser cut part and superglue on the perspex.

Personally I like the buildings to be removable, and the base I use is thin ply, with a sheet of perspex in the base, so that the building fits snugly over the ply, leaving no gap or visible edge. This ensures easy access for interiors and lighting parts.

On the bricks occasionally coming away from the parts surface, it is perfect as it adds the realism of spalled bricks! It may be slow, but I tend to add the bricks colour brick by brick, varying the shades, then pick out burnt bricks and then dry brush white down wards with black upwards. First Lcut parts done like this look fantastic.

A small country station building is next project, this will use the parts from the Lcut kits plus some extra bits and pieces like guttering and down pipes, and custom bargeboard ends to the roofs.

It is so nice to see a sensible use of CNC laser cutting in the way Lcut have introduced,

    Stephen.

    Thank you for your feedback!

Great to hear you liked the product.

That is certainly an interesting way of approaching the painting. I am in the process of getting an airbrush setup so will be able to experiment with it.

Also great to hear you found a way of improving the strength of the window frames. We do our best to make them as fine as possible but it does mean they are fragile.

There is not much more we can do regarding the internal bracing without rising the cost. I understand some modelers prefer the building to be removable but they are generally designed to be glued down and admired.

Again thank you for the detailed feedback!
