  1. It does seem to depend on the chassis setup and weight of the model. I have a 4 wheel inspection trolly in HOe which runs faultlessly but I also have one of the Wee Lilliput 4 wheel diesel shunters which I just cannot get to run right. There's very little weight in it.
  2. It's very nice to finally see a proper Wee industrial pug. I'm concerned about the running qualities of such a short wheelbase. Proper gearing is one thing but a flywheel is almost essential to help such a tichy thing over the points. Will there be room to put one in?
  3. With wheels that size, I take it Teddy has a top speed of about walking pace? Oh and what's the latest on the bridge now that the leccy work appears to be back on?
  4. Muchly impressed with Railtec. A day or so after I contacted them, they have produced a sheet of numbers, stag logos and other handy bits. Everything I need for my conversion. Strongly recommend them.
  5. Ta for that. I've gotten in touch with railtec and I think they can do me a sheet of transfers to do the conversion. Nose doors shouldn't be a problem. A spot of filing n filling will do the job. Any other alterations I'll need to consider?
  6. I'm planning on renumbering my large logo 37 057 to 37 025 to have a nice Scottish loco. Is there a kit to specifically renumber a loco like this or do I need to buy the various sheets from fox? I figure I'd need the stag logos, large numbers and Inverness TMD nameplates. Anything else you'd recommend I would need, such as craftsman pipe set and snowploughs etc?
  7. What a wonderfully eloquent description. Makes me wish I was around in those days. Unfortunately, there's not a lot left of Edinburgh's old railways. Everything in the east was demolished and swept away. I did get a look at Leith central before it was demolished. Could have still been in use today if it wasn't for short sightedness.
  8. Since when did "need" ever become a factor in buying trains?
  9. I've got a reservation for a sound fitted 99 4101 in HOe. I know its not prototypical but its a very nice Wee engine. Anyone got video of the sound fitted 6101 to hear what it sounds like?
  10. Paul, where did you get the chip from? Is it an official Tillig one? I see they are doing 6101 with sound fitted. I plan on getting the HOe version, do you think they will produce the chip with steam sounds as a separate item? I think the body is identical to the HOm version so the chip n speaker should fit.
  11. Had a look at the tillig stand at intermodellbau, the HOe version of 6101 (numbered 99 4101) is due out in June or thereabouts. I guess the sound option will be the same for this loco. Also they had a pre production model of the big 2-10-2. It looked bloody impressive. Its listed as the 99 23-24 version and is due out at the end of the year. HSB coaches were also available at 72euros a pair. I can feel my model of Drei Annen Honen is getting nearer...
  12. Watched a making of programme on it the other night. It has a good mix of CGI and traditional model making including kit bashing. Will have a look on catch up. It has some nice touches, like using the original Parker and Sylvia Anderson having a cameo as lady Penelope's aunt or some such. I swear, when she says "home Parker" it sounds just like all those years ago. (Pity she looks like Zelda from the Terrahawks tho!)
  13. I see County Gate, possibly the greatest narrow gauge layout ever built is coming up for sale today. I hope it gets a good price and goes to a good home and still does the rounds at exhibitions. If I had the money, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
  14. Anyone know where I can get one of the saloons in br maroon. Everywhere seems to be out of stock. I'd like to get 45020 as it is the one preserved at boness. I'm guessing they won't do any more of that one.
  15. Hornby weren't the only ones to suffer from dodgy mazak. A friend of mine has a Brawa 232 co-co diesel. The bogies ended up banana shaped! They were made of two halves of mazak but one have expanded and bent the other. Got replacement bogies by return of post.
  16. I'd have thought a standard gauge/tram crossing would be a likely use though narrow gauge tramways are usually meter gauge. You could have a 750mm gauge one.
  17. Hmm... 2-10-2s next year. I feel a project coming on.
  18. I wonder how long the line will be shut? They won't even be able to asses the damage until the storms are over. They will need to rebuild the seawall strong enough to withstand similar in the future. Gonna be a loooong wait for a train.
  19. Sounds like the Faust coach is really meant to be a static display model and a souvenir for visitors to the line. That you can fairly easily get it running is a bonus. I'm very interested in this new HOm stuff as I've always harboured a dream to build a model of Drei Annen Honen but the fleet of locos and coaches from Wienert would make it eye wateringly expensive.
  20. I'd love to see a small industrial tank loco. Maybe a Barclay 040 or 060. Deffo a gap in the market for such a thing.
  21. Another fan of Cuneo here, I have a good collection of limited ed. Prints by him, some signed. I also have a full sized print of "Giants Refreshed" which has to be my all time fav picture. I would love an original but they go for over £2000 at auction! Jonathan Clay is another artist I like. I have commissioned a couple of paintings by him over the years.
  22. I hadn't realised Bachmann were producing an LMS inspection saloon in OO. I saw a pre production shot in this months Hornby mag. I always wanted one in ~BR maroon. Did they get the drawings/research off the N gauge society or is it of another variety? Not sure how I missed that this was coming.
  23. Seems such a shame that Muirs got hold of all those locos and just left them to rot. They probably aren't even worth much as scrap value any more.
  24. Plus, what about back EMF? Does that work with two motors? I presume you will need a fairly heavy duty chip, good job there will be plentyof room in a beastie like that.
