  1. This whole case never sat right to me. A guard performs the correct procedures according to company policy and who, due to poor sighting, blind spots and poor monitors, did not see the old lady trying to get on. This lady chose to ignore audible alarms and a closing door and made the conscious decision to board anyway. The company completely exonerated the guard as he had properly followed procedures and yet the CPS STILL decided to prosecute! What a complete and utter waste of time and money. How could an incident that took a few seconds take a whole 6 days to be presented in court?
  2. There's a space on the opposite side from where the chip is mounted. It is very close to the size of the micro power pack. Until I can get hold of one, I'm not sure if it'll fit.
  3. It's a bit worrying to hear about poor running, especially with all those wheels! The model of 99 4101 I have (HOe version of 6101) was a really poor runner, ie: it would barely even twitch. It has been repaired and appears to run better but I haven't been able to test it on the layout yet. I'm hoping I can shoehorn an ESU micro powerpack into it.
  4. How's bridging the gap coming along? Not seen much about progress lately. I assume fundraising and prep work is trotting along?
  5. I was most impressed with your stand at Glasgow. You are certainly embracing the sound market. Thanks again for fitting the chip n speakers to my wee narrow gauge loco. Looking forward to hear your black 5 sounds when they are done.
  6. There's supply and demand, or blatant profiteering, depending on which side you stand.
  7. How many were made of each livery? Do you think Hornby might learn from this or chicken out and keep the numbers (relatively) modest. Sounds like the black ones have pretty much all gone, 6 months before they even appear. Underestimating the market somewhat?
  8. I'm off to visit Dortmund in April. Could be an expensive trip...
  9. I like your platforms. Are they home made or a kit? Looks just like the real thing.
  10. You can't do that! It's curved at the top. It'll fall off!
  11. Saw a complete nugget on my way to work today. A fire service car came past in front of me with lights n siren going great guns. I followed it up to the lights where it was stuck behind a muppet waiting at the lights. The blue lights were blazing away, siren going, headlights flashing and they were leaning on the horn. I hung back a bit in case they backed up and tried to go round. They refused to budge and only moved when the lights changed and pulled over some way up the road. There was no way they didn't know it was there but were more worried about going through the lights that letting the emergency vehicle through. Some people really shouldn't be on the road.
  12. I've been lucky enough to order the last one from a certain retailer. Looks like the black ones will be long gone well before they even appear!
  13. The wheels are really the only let down on the peco 009 stock. I feel a bit put out to have to replace the wheels on a small 4 wheel coach that costs £24. Otherwise, they are very nice wee models.
  14. "The event will feature 4 working Deltics, D9002, D9009, 55019 and 55022 and we are working on a surprise visitor and will be a Deltic ONLY event.' Kinda limits the surprise somewhat. It would need to be 15,16, both under overhaul or the prototype. Choices choices.
  15. I timed this a while back. It takes 76 seconds @50 mph to go from portal to portal. As you are using HSTs from portal to portal, you should take about 60 seconds to travel along your bridge.
  16. I once saw example you the same thing happen at craigentinny. The 47 followed the coaches back up to the wash plant. The front bogie went up the avoiding line but the rear bogie decided it wanted to get washed it pulled the airlines out and it got well and truly stuck. Didn't derail though.
  17. I liked the video of the locos at the Burntisland aluminium works. Would any of the current peckett models match either of the locos in that video?
  18. The same applied to Thornton station in Fife. The coalmine offered to leave the coal seam under the station if the railway paid for it. Needless to say they refused so the coal was mined out and over the years, Thornton station gradually sank. Think the original platform surfaces ended up below rail height.
  19. I'd be interested in this too. Will you have it at Glasgow? Be interesting to see (and hear) at the show.
  20. I like the idea of the Vulcan set. So see how what sort of scary price it'll sell for?
  21. I gave mine a bit of a run on the rollers yesterday. It seems a little stiff for about 90 Degrees of each revolution. I'm assuming a good run in will free it up. It doesn't look like I'll be able to replace it.
  22. As it's tight for space, they could've put in a next18 socket or similar. They are essentially surface mounted and take up almost no space.
  23. Some manufacturers handle the problem better than others. A friend had a Brawa class 232 diesel the Mazak frames in the bogies were banana shaped! He fired off an email enquiring if they knew about the problem and about a week later a new set of bogie frames and some other parts duly arrived. Excellent customer service!
  24. I've always fancied doing Drei Annen Honen. It would need at least 3 2-10-2s for the crossover departures. Shierke on the Brocken line could be a nice wee station to model.
