    Fareham

I thought it was rather quiet too. Still, I got close up to most layouts.

Same here…. Looks like once I get to Portsmouth Harbour, it will be the Gosport Ferry and then the bus to Fareham (via the express busway)…
  3. I believe you have to have registered the service to be able to charge? The bus museum I’m an active member of runs shuttle services once a month, and we don’t charge as there’s too much involved to do so.
  4. Painting a brass loco is sacrilege…..😉 But the end result is a ‘working’ model and not a collectors dust item….
  5. Could hook a milk Reefer on the back for the evening run to the junction, and on to the big city….
  6. A few items that are available from Walthers, though they’re not exactly cheap. A NYC style depot might be more of an issue. Brian
  7. Aided by the local press and those who repeat what they say. There are a minority on the island that love to denigrate anything here.
  8. The level of service, considering what the train service levels elsewhere in the UK often are, is more than adequate for the traffic, except for one month a year. And it similar with the buses, though if there are coach parties in town, then often on their free day, they go out for a bus ride elsewhere on the island.
  9. The service isn’t wonderful, but it certainly isn’t rubbish, unless you want to believe the local press. An hourly service outside the peaks is all that you’re likely to get, and there are only a handful of services a year where it warrants either more than a 2 car or an increased frequency. Don’t forget the units were ordered pre-Covid, hence the number of units. Whilst there might be 4 buses an hour between Ryde and Shanklin during the daytime (the Number 2 service doesn’t run in the evenings), the buses are totally unsuitable for anyone with luggage.
  10. You could still have the wharf, for provisions, materials etc for going to Hurst Castle. That wasn’t decommissioned until 1956. Brian
  11. Although diesel land, the same location but about 40 years apart.....
  12. A couple of photos that I took back at end of the 70's \ 80's, on the Uckfield line.
  13. Yes, it was and it did push-pull in and out of the Walk.
  14. 37610 passing through Shoreham-by-Sea with a driver route learning service. 5th October 2020.
  15. Going back in to my archives.... 73122 with u.7780 on a shuttle service between Brighton station and Lovers Walk, in conjunction with an Open Day. 10th July 1976.
  16. I’m sure I remember travelling in a BCK on one of the portions on the Far North, back in the late 70’s. It was only 4 coaches all told, including a Buffet Car.
  17. One asks for some transfers in 7mm, similar to those in 4mm..... Lo and behold, now on the website (and in my possession)! https://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=4340 Excellent service!
  18. They come off easily enough.., When taking the track apart, it's not unusual to find both joiners on the same end of one piece!
  19. I think something similar happens when Canadian Modellers exhibiting go south to the USA?
  20. I found the same too. I usually give them a black wash initially but that hasn't made much difference this time. I resorted to dry brushing.
  21. I found the same, wanting a custom order too, but unable to find any email address anywhere, other than a reference to if you have already received goods, and it's on the transfers.
  22. I’m sure many lines that have been singled will have passing loops , or the track uses both former track beds in places. Certainly is the case on the Uckfield line, and the Appledore to Ore line.
