  1. Honestly, in this day and age, a factory-weathered loco should resemble a machine that's been out getting dirty at work rather than coming back from a bog snorkeling event. Fortunately, solutions exist... Davy.
  2. Thanks Rob. I really could use a proper photo backdrop for my models but your tweaks have brought the model out well. I'm off to do some final finishing on it now before I get started on Honeyway. Davy.
  3. Sun Castle has now become Straight Deal. As she depicts 1963-4 she has received a lowered top iron and split handrails on the smokebox. There is still work to do but I'm quite satisfied so far. Davy.
  4. I had a couple of very minor QC issues on Steady Aim (top lamp iron amiss and a slight cock-eyed lubricator but nothing serious. Overall very happy so far with mine although it'll be some time before they see any kind of action. Davy.
  5. Mark, if you're in the market for more Lothian buses, might I recommend George at Sunrise Models and Transfers. He does a good range of short run resin kits and all the transfers you could need. No connection other than very satisfied customer. http://www.sunrisetransfers.com/cat/part041.html All the best. Davy.
  6. The one I'd love to to would be Baird's & Scottish No1. Bought from the LNER for industrial use. In fact certified for mainline trips between Bairds' sites around Coatbridge in North Lanarkshire. Instantly recognisable apparently by its shiny, burnished dome. A sort of Yul Brynner on wheels...
  7. Exactly what I have planned too. Davy.
  8. Actually a strange move that as I understand that '512 was withdrawn from Polmadie that summer. Perhaps a paperwork mix-up? Davy.
  9. I pondered that but the boiler is conspicuously shorter. Davy.
  10. Well, there's gonna be a bit of 'monkey see, monkey do' now, you know that... Davy
  11. Very nice seeing all these A2/2s here but for me, the main event is going to be the A2/3. Anything on the scuttlebutt about their arrival? I did hear that this week was possible. Davy.
  12. That's wonderful, bud! Layout looks amazing though I'd be creeping under that bridge in a decker, given the limited headroom. Tenement looking fantastic too. To me, this couldn't be anywhere else in the world but Leith. Followed. Davy.
  13. It's still Mike. Been 18 years since he took over from Mike Hawkins but he's ploughing on through present difficulties. I'm looking to move north soon, but I absolutely guarantee Mike will still get my business. His quality service and friendly manner deserve no less. Just a heads-up, he's having a week off at the moment so go easy on the orders; I understand he's got a terrifying battle with a monster hedge booked this week! Davy
  14. With this, the Standard 2MT and a MK1/Gresley BG, there's potential for a Tweed Valley train pack. Davy.
  15. Is there any source material where dimensions for the enlarged top feed can be found? I would like to portray these three locos, being the only 8Fs allocated to ScR in this era. Davy.
  16. Scubaidh Dubh has been enjoying the snow just with the equipment nature gave him!

many happy returns! My clock ticks on tomorrow

  18. Oh, this one is seriously pushing my buttons, Ian! A train could get costly mind! Davy.
  19. A long time ago in a previous life, I remember stooging around at Shenfield with an oppo waiting for her sis coming in from Liverpool St. Whilst her waiting PPO driver nipped across the road to the offy for a load of whisky, gin and fags...
