  1. At the risk of going off topic, I suspect it is more a matter of protecting advertising revenue without which the excellent GOG Gazette could not survive.
  2. Actually a bit more than a pint of beer if my memory serves me well!
  3. Brighton Works version? Count me in RIGHT NOW! Kubes
  4. These have been so popular and the window recesses are SO apparent (to my eyes anyway) that it surprises me somewhat that no-one has offered aftermarket flush glazing products. Otherwise excellent products at the price. Kubes
  5. Bachmann also did the ex LB&SC Sheffield Park station buildings and the later preservation era footbridge which came from somewhere else on the SR network. I don't know if these are still available new though. Kubes
  6. As far as I know there was no alteration to the internal layout, the carriages were allocated to a class of traffic depending on the service requirements with the same furnishings and seat layout. So very nice for third class travellers, less so when allocated to first class. Kubes
  7. But be aware that signal diagrams, though very useful and interesting in their own right, rarely show sidings that are not under the direct control of the relevant box.
  8. Probably because the HMRS lettering was created nearly half a century ago
  9. Thanks Mike much appreciated All the best Kubes
  10. Hi Please could someone pm me Mike King's current address as I would like to stock up on some SR EMU drawings from him (and also send him some fan mail about his excellent books on SR loco hauled coaches and pull-push stock in the hope he might be doing the same for the electrics!) Thanks Kubes
  11. I've only ever seen photos taken in late BR days so I suspect it was cheaper to remove the cladding than repair it on an asset which only had a short working life expectancy. It would make an interesting variant though.
  12. I was told by someone, I can't remember who now, that some E4s had outer cladding removed from the tanks revealing the rivetted sides.
  13. I was that young boy! I had a Triang Princess and two crimson & cream coaches and I was so made up. My modelling tastes and aspirations have moved on but deep down I suspect I'm still searching and perhaps ONLY searching for the feelings I had then for those simple toys.Kubes
  14. Can you at least tell us how many wheels?

    JLTRT

Sometimes it's not about the destination it's about the journey and that's what you can get with a scratch build or a kit but which you rarely if ever find with rtr. Not dissing rtr, I love my Dapol Terriers but when you build something yourself you can reach a mental place which is quite special. Kubes
  16. I guess the only rtr options are the Hornby ex Airfix B set and autocoach, decent models for their time but they date from the 1980s and have well documented failings.
  17. No problem at all AFAIK but Coachman mentioned somewhere that the darts on his pannier had been damaged. Can't see the post now so it may have been edited.
  18. OK in which case try Warren Shepherd for one also Meteor, Premier Components (at shows rather than mail order) and Ragstone for more generic darts. JLTRT do or did a pannier and I think they will supply parts.
  19. Hobbyhorse Developments have a GWR smokebox dart reference 7RH160 in the Reynalds range - don't know if that is exactly the type but worth a look.
  20. I have to say although I loved my Triang trains I was so so envious of my friends Hornby Dublo SD carriages which even to my young inexpert eyes looked so much more realistic and felt so much more railway like than my Triang ones.
  21. I would have loved to have a Tri-ang emu as a boy. I had make do with two unpowered green suburban brake ends which I pushed along the track until Mr Alex Bowie of Model Railway News fame sold me a Tri-ang motor bogie in his Modelmania shop in Norbury and gave me detailed instructions on how to fit it! Happy days!
  22. Tower Models report that the Dapol 57xx panniers "are going into production now" but no delivery date yet. I have to say with the spec including a representation of working inside valve gear these look remarkably tempting even to a confirmed SR modeller like myself.
  23. I am given to understand that the non working version is more prototypically correct!
  24. It always gave the impression of having been built in black and white! Kubes
  25. I don't recall Parkside doing ready painted PO wagon kits. Might be a Powsides product as they used a variety of source kits which they then supplied either ready decorated or with appropriate full size transfers. I imagine they might be able to advise on colour matches. Kubes
