  1. I've got a feeling that the 0 gauge stuff at least has gone to J&M Hughes but I may be wrong. Kubes
  2. "Ive found 77030* & 79199 which appear to have numbers in 'Sunshine' style ( under a layer of grime so the shading's not very conspicuous ) plus 79203 & 79281 ex-works at Brighton with full 'BRITISH AIRWAYS' tender lettering" Perhaps destined to be transferred to ER to pull the Flying Scotsman? Kubes
  3. I have a sound equipped loco on my 16mm garden line. To be honest I usually switch the engine noise off but I do really like to be able to sound the horn when moving off or at other operationally appropriate times. I would happily fit whistle or horn sounds on my 7mm stuff but I couldn't bear the artificial loco noises. Kubes
  4. Seem to be to a high spec and reasonably priced as well. I may well be tempted by the SR versions though they are a little bit late for my modelling period. Kubes
  5. A poster on the Gauge 0 Guild forum has said that Dapol had details at Warley of a forthcoming range of Mk1 coaches. Can anyone corroborate this? Also some suggestion of S&D six wheelers which seems a bit left field for a major manufacturer. Kubes
  6. I think the query was how long they lasted in teak finish as opposed to being painted. If so I imagine most if not all such carriages would have been painted maroon by 1960 with full brakes and some catering cars getting blue and blue grey livery in the late 60s and early 70s.
  7. I don't suppose anyone has a decent drawing or picture of the compartment sliding doors on the TCL? Kubes
  8. Yes please! A 7mm H class would be fabulous!!
  9. Ah that's what confused me . The photo as I remember it showed just the cab with mini me peering out of the side window. It was a black and white snap taken by my mother and I guess that I subsequently thought it must have been blue because of the full yellow end. It's funny how we build memories over the years! Kubes

    Jinty in O gauge

I suppose you could turn down the flanges on the centre wheels, change the coupling rods for something less fine, put some black plastikard behind the spokes, put something in the cab to resemble the Triang motor, remove most of the detail... and it would still look better! I have to confess, I am planning to build an SR L1 in 7mm and it will be a real struggle not to paint it BR green like my long lost Triang one
  11. Are you sure about 55001 St Paddy being repainted in 69? The reason I ask is that I remember being invited as a small boy into the cab of St Paddy in new blue livery at Edinburgh Waverley and I am sure we glimpsed a steam loco at Newcastle on the way up which would place the date a bit earlier. I may be conflating memories of course but I used to have a photo of my cab visit (sadly long lost alas) and as a Londoner it wasn't a regular trip,!! Kubes

This is the North Western railway of Sodor I believe!! Kubes
  13. There is a photo of 80151 (according to the caption) in Terry Gough's book BR Past & Present - Sussex hauling one solitary ex LBSC coach at Barcombe. I'm pleased to report that this train was recreated on the West Sussex 0 gauge test track at the Worthing show at the weekend with my model of S3847S and a friend's 4MT.
  14. Actually, doing one unit would be insane enough!
  15. But the DD would have stand out novelty value. I've been mulling over doing one in 0 gauge. Just ONE mind you - doing both units would probably drive me bonkers!
  16. Especially if they produced an ex LBSC Pull Push trailer - sulky service train pack anyone...?
  17. And those big autocouplers have got to go!Oops sorry somehow picked up an old post here
  18. A friend was running his new acquisition today on the West Sussex 0 gauge group test track at the Worthing MRC show. Not my scene really but it did look really nice
  19. I saw those too! I thought someone might snap them up! Too small for me alas - I was with the West Sussex 0 test track
  20. Have a look at Kingswear. The site is constricted by the river Dart on one side and the steep South Devon hills on the other. The platform curves round with a turntable and sidings in the corner. Very model railway like!
  21. One of my favourite layouts, certainly of its time but possessing that indefinable railwayness that many other more "sophisticated" scenic layouts failed to capture!
  22. I suspect a pacific in S7 would struggle with radii under 6ft. As in all modelling you have to choose where you are going to compromise.
  23. I always try to ensure that one bogie can rock from side to side while the other rocks from end to end and that gives a smooth enough ride usually.
