  1. Fantastic modelling and photo's. I'd love to know the techniques you use, especially how did you 'cut back' the weathering on the Class 31?

Love the videos Andy, great layout, very inspirational. I keep thinking of building something similar using the Bachmann diesel depot but cant seem to get round to it!
  3. Went to the Epping and Ongar Railway Diesel Gala last Sunday and saw a very shiny 08 836. Did look good in the new livery though.
  4. EddieB - The shark was still at Shenfield about a month ago when I went through there!
  5. Good to see you back Stu. I lost both my parents in a relatively short space of time a few years ago and I found life difficult. time does improve things albeit slowly for me, but doing stuff I enjoy helped including being on here. Look forward to seeing your projects and hope things improve for you. Take care. Steve

Like the weathering pics, seeing pics like that helps me to understand the techniques, look forward to see more.

    Weather pics

Some great photo's there. I'd love to get a lightning pic but have always struggled! Here's a picture of a sunset from my flat window during the summer.
  8. Enjoyed watching the layout yesterday, I think I just missed the appearence of the western! hopefully get a chance to see Acacia sometime, well done! Steve

Good to see you back with a plan Andy, looking forward to seeing it develop, keep posting the pics!!
  10. Great layout and love the pictures. Any chance of a 'google earth' view or a track plan please, also do you use acrylics for washes or drybrushing at all? I would like to stop using enamel paints but find acrylics dry too quick, maybe I could thin them before drybrushing? Steve.
  11. Fantastic layout Neal. I like the right hand end with the stairs leading up to the road. Have you any plans to extend it from that end?
  12. Excellent looking layout now, the sign finishes it of really well. One question. How do you operate it, do you have a timetable or sequence to follow?
  13. very inspiring work Jack, the layout is coming along nicely. What's the layout underneath in some of the pics, that looks interesting

    Swad Lane.

Hi Andy, I've just caught up with this thread so appologies if this has been said before but I cant believe the letter that was published and I cant belive the magazine printed it as well, let alone made it a star letter!! Anyway enough of that, I am so glad you're still posting on here as I and so many others find your layouts and articles so inspiring. Are you planning on doing any demonstations or exhibiting at the rm web day as I'm hoping to go and it woudl be good to see your work in the flesh, so to speak, although I know how stressfull moving can be so I guess that will take up most of your time. Keep up the modelling and I look forward to seeing more pics, the last few with the class 47 and polybulk were great, the good thing about a 'works' layout is you dont need loads of wagons and you can run almost anything. Take care Andy, hope alls well. Steve.
  15. Fantastic work James. I have a question, how do you fade the colours, you mentioned using white and grey, do you paint it on and wipe off or airbrush a light coat? appologies if you've answered it in the thread but i couldn't see it. Steve
  16. I've been following this layout and it's looking fantastic ! Hope I'll get to see it sometime if you have plans to venture to the London area? Well done
  17. Had to wait to get transfers but now the shunters looking shiny and new! Now to give it a coat of matt varnish and then weather it.
  18. I wanted to share some pics of the hunslet shunter I've been building. It's a resin cast kit with a few additions from wire and brass strip. I've finished detailing it and now ready for undercoating and painting, but I cant find any colour pics of the prototype (only a model version from a magazine) so I'm going for all over black with red bufferbeams and I'll weather it similar to a steam engine. Any opinion appreciated. Steve.
  19. Just spent a couple of hours looking through this thread, the photo's are fantastic, brings back loads of memories! Great stuff. Steve.
  20. Right up my street, I'd like to build something like this for my fleet of diesels that have nowhere to run at the moment. Dont think I could scratchbuild points like that though! Looking forward to seeing this develop. Steve.
  21. Right up my street this, I'd like to see some more pics please! Also how did you build the retaining walls and warehouse? The photo's certainly capture the atmosphere, well done Steve
  22. Like the look of this layout so far and looking forward to seeing more. I was wondering what is the make of the larger of the two wharehouses in the background? Steve.
