  1. Just caught the thread, fantastic layout and great pics. Keep up the good work! Any chance of a 'google earth' view or a track plan please? Steve
  2. Just spent a couple of hours looking through this thread, the photo's are fantastic, brings back loads of memories! Great stuff. Steve.
  3. Right up my street, I'd like to build something like this for my fleet of diesels that have nowhere to run at the moment. Dont think I could scratchbuild points like that though! Looking forward to seeing this develop. Steve.
  4. Right up my street this, I'd like to see some more pics please! Also how did you build the retaining walls and warehouse? The photo's certainly capture the atmosphere, well done Steve
  5. Like the look of this layout so far and looking forward to seeing more. I was wondering what is the make of the larger of the two wharehouses in the background? Steve.
  6. The mortar colour was a mixed off white colour so not very consistent, but I like the idea of just using one colour. I'm going to an exhibition tomorrow so I'll have a look for the humbrol colours mentioned and give it another go! I've just checked you layout and got to say there's some fantastic modelling and painting there! I like the idea of stabbing/drybrushing to give the concrete a bit of texture, I've built a concrete building and was wondering how to weather it so that could be the answer. Thanks for the advice. Steve
  7. I've tried the technique with red brick and posted a couple of pics. I made a few mistakes at the top of the building. It looks ok on close up but to me the mortar colour still shows too much, and in the photo's it still a bit patchy! is it a matter of keeping on drybrushing until I'm happy? I was also using acrylic paint, would that make much of a difference?
  8. That makes sense, It's definately inspired me to have a go. Would you also use the same mortar colour for red brick?
  9. The pics look fantastic, the second pic is what I'm trying to do. When you say stabbing instead of wiping the drybrush I take it you have to be carefull not to stab the paint into the mortar colour. Also the was the weathering just drybrushed in the same way?
  10. Hi all, I'm having trouble painting a blue brick wall. I cant seem to get the mortar right or the technique, as it looks patchy after I've drybrushed it, so much so that I've just painted it all over in blue at the moment. I've been using railmatch engineering blue brick as the main colour. I would appreciate any advice. Cheers Steve.
  11. Looks good axelcounter, looking forward to seeing this develop. I'm very impressed with the way you've enlisted the whole family helping!! Steve
  12. I enjoyed the layout at shenfield on saturday, I wanted to ask, what are the sound chips in the 08's but didn't get the chance. Congrats on a great little layout, hope I get the chance to see again. Steve.
  13. Took this picture of Tornado in 2007 from the brewery (shopping center) car park Romford. Steve
  14. Looking forward to seeing shelfe st at shenfield on sat.
  15. Like the 03's, are you planning on venturing any where near London with Orchard Road at all?
  16. Very envious! Fantastic train set you've got to play with there
  17. Great pic there, I like the 08 with the double arrow and lion and wheel, do you know if it was in br blue or green? It looks like Blue but I wondered if any 08's had a lion and wheel on br blue? Steve.
  18. Thanks for that Andy and Duncan, I will attempt to start a thread on here but first I've got to decide what to do, I really like Trebudoc Goods as I saw it in the 'flesh' at the members day 2012, but I also really like the station and I've accumilated so much different stock!!!!! Andy, are you planning on venturing south with any of your layouts?
  19. Andy, I'm sure it's in the thread somewhere but I cant find it! Could you please tell me the dimensions of the layout as I have been inspired by it and the previous goods version and would like to build something similar in 4mm scale, hopefully just halving your dimensions. Also how big is the fiddle yard? Thanks Steve

I've just found this layout and I must say what a fantastic piece of modelling it is. The realism and detail is stunning. Can you tell me what shows it is at in the near future as I'd love to see it in the flesh. Steve
  21. Ian Futers Lochside did it for me I loved seeing all those dirty blue diesels! I have enjoyed all his creations ever since.
  22. I had gorgeous woman in my flat for dinner on saturday and she noticed some of my railway dvd's on the shelf, she asked if they were mine, dont know who elses they could have been, and gave me a smile. I'm seeing her again this weekend so I dont think all is lost. Not sure if she'll come with me to the members day though! Seriously though, my last girlfriend was accepting of the hobby and if I met anyone that looked at me differently because of it I'd probably think twice before going out with them!
  23. Your Your layout really didn't disapoint, I was very impressed and Loch Leven is also fantastic, I've got no excuse about building something of my own now!!!! Good to meet you and have a chat.
