Hi Rich, Many thanks for your reply. My up and coming project shouldn't pose any issues as far as radius is concerned so that's not to worry. They do look and sound fantastic as far as I have seen. Although I haven't seen one up close, only via YouTube videos and such like.

Hi folks I hope you are all well. I have recently taken the decision to sell up my modern image 00 collection and turn my attention to 0 gauge/7mm. Now it will still be modern image but I do find myself very intrigued by the above named model. I wonder if any of you great folk could offer any advice on them at all please and thank you. Have a great Monday all!
  3. What a superb video and stunning rolling stock... and I am a modern image diesel lover!
  4. Hi Ian, We had the pleasure of catching your layout today at Redcar Model Railway Show and it was without a doubt my two year old boys favourite. Excellent layout, we really enjoyed viewing it today. Thanks.
  5. Good evening folks, I happened to come into ownership of a rake of 8 Oxford Rail Mk3a's in intercity swallow livery. Right place, right price etc. Now, I don't actually have a need for Mk3a's but I am a HST man and just happen to have a spare power car and dummy unit in swallow livery. My question therefor is, what do you folks think I would be up against if I was to want to modify them to MK3 variation? I know I need to lose the buffers and renumber, that's fine, but is there anything else which would be visually needing modified? Thanks in advance all
  6. Thanks folks, much appreciated. I should have a few updates by the weekend for you and I will try and highlight a few different things you might see as the layout progresses.
  7. Good evening all. Having been lurking in the shadows for quite some time, only posting a reply here and there I thought it was about time I started a thread on my own layout and current project. I am Adam, I live in Billingham Teesside and have been fortunate enough to have spent my younger years in what I consider the best period for British Rail and in quite an iconic location too. Of course I am talking about Thornaby (TE) and it's vast marshalling yard, but not only Thornaby, we also had all the variety of trains coming to and from the huge chemical complex facilities on Teesside, Billingham, North Tees, Seal Sands and Wilton. Best of all, we had some fantastic trains to and from the steel works with a great selection of traction and rolling stock. So my layout is taken from this. It is not designed to replicate Thornaby and surrounding areas, but it is certainly a nod to and displays many different but familiar rolling stock as seen during the late 80's to mid 90's. I had a rough track plan, taken from locations around Teesside and I broke it down to fit the space I had available in the loft. This wasn't easy due to the layout of the loft, but I have worked with what I've got and hopefully once the layout starts to take shape, the roof supports will blend in and will go relatively un-noticed! Now the track plan may vary slightly as I go because I would really like to add certain features into the layout which really, there isn't room for, unless I go multi-level. The main depot (North Tees TMD) is the focus of the layout, with the marshalling yard to the North of the depot and if I go multi-level then I will be incorporating either a chemical works or an oil terminal. There may just be enough room for a through station, like the single platform at Billingham but we shall see. I have laid and tested the TMD and marshalling yard so far and ran around each end of the loft into what will form the fiddle yard. I will add some photo's tomorrow to try and give an idea of what I hope to achieve. For now, there is a photo of 37 004 which is installed with a Legomanbiffo sound chip and was based at TE for a short while. Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for my YouTube channel and Instagram page (which some of you may already be following). Take care!
  8. As the title suggests guys, I know it's a massive long shot but this model was stolen a few months back and is more a sentimental one for my boy. It's the right era, wrong area, however it was his favourite and he's finally clicked that it's gone. If anyone has one or knows of one going then I would greatly appreciate the heads up. I'll even throw a few quid your way for a new year drink. Many thanks guys.
  9. Calling all Teesside folk... I just wanted to see how many of us there are here and where we are, are we in a club, what period are we modelling, what scale... It's just a bit of fun. Me, I'm Adam, from Billingham. I model in 4mm & 7mm scale, all of my stuff is mid 80's - mid 90's sectorisation, mainly metals 37's. I have tried to find time to get along to a club but family and work life being what it is, I think I manage about half a session every few years! Merry Christmas to you all.
  10. Evening all, I wasn't sure where best to put this really but I just wanted to recommend Neil at www.wheeltappersdccsounds.co.uk I had been struggling with wiring up a new sound card and Neil almost instantly gave me as much information as possible in a very easily understandable context. I would probably have ruined the sound card by now if it weren't for his generosity. So a massive thanks from myself to Neil and I'd absolutely recommend that anyone struggling or unsure about anything DCC, go and see Neil. Top job, many thanks Wiggy1 ✌️
  11. Massive thanks Wiggy, all up and running now and sounding superb too! The help is greatly appreciated indeed. Merry Christmas ✌️
  12. Thanks for your replies on this guy's it really is much appreciated and all taken on board. I have ordered the SB5 booster pack, then at least I know I'm safe regardless. One loco is a split box Heljan 37 which has the two drive motors, everything else is quite recent.
  13. Thanks James, much appreciated. What would you consider a district on an 0 gauge layout around 26ft in length? The whole thing off one booster? Never mind, I misread the info etc. I can buy a 5 amp booster for the lot by the looks of it. £177... My bleeding wallet!
  14. Hi all, having recently made the move to 7mm/0 gauge I realise my NCE power cab is null and void. Almost all of my 4mm stuff has gone so what do you folks recommend to get me going in DCC for 0 gauge? I'll be running large locos. Thanks all.
  15. Evening all, I'm probably just being blind but I can't find the topic, so here goes... I've moved up to 0 gauge modelling and I am trying to fit a legomanbiffo V4 loksound L chip into a Heljan split box 37. Can I Nelly figure out what to do! I've soldered as per the destructions which aren't in English but I'm getting only a few sounds and no movement. Any help or a pointer to a fitting guide (pictures would be great) would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Absolutely has to be TE Thornaby for me. All that Teesside steel hauled by so many 37's over the years. Gone but most certainly not forgotten!
  17. As above, I am looking for an 0 gauge class 31 if there are any around?! Thanks in advance.
  18. I know, it's like asking for a miracle. But never the less, I am looking for Heljan 0 gauge 37's, particularly split boxes. Also on the lookout for a 31! Thanks all.
  19. Great layout. I've had a thoroughly good read through this thread. Very inspirational.
  20. Nice work fella, looking smart. I really like the compass livery, it's not my era but I'm seriously considering doing one anyway. It'll only be about 15 years out haha!
  21. Very nice fella, love those DRS 37's in compass livery. They're really smart looking...I might have to invest! Great work.
  22. Brilliant work, very nice effect.
  23. I just spent my evening reading this thread, start to finish. I have to say I am totally and utterly inspired and in awe at your fantastic modelling skills and I look forward to reading more. Outstanding!
  24. Great work, and a really great layout too. Plenty of scope for interesting trains and movements.
