Hi Al,
Looks great.
To help make the Railmatch Malachite match the Hornby finish even closer I mask the rest of the model and give the Railmatch area a coat of Railmatch satin varnish from one of their rattle cans, it gives a similar finish to the factory finish and changes the malachite colour slightly to make it a closer match.

An excellent post Mark and I am happy to have been of assiatnce in a small way.
-
Totally agree with the Captain's comments above.
It's great to see such skills and quality progress being made, it doesn't seem that long ago since Daniel could hardly see over the top of the backscenes on Fisherton Sarum!
-
Great stuff Mark and Daniel!
-
Looking good Mark. One day I might actually do one of these weekends myself.
-
Hi Stu
Nope I have never attended the Hayle show.
-
Didn't know you were a fellow Genesis fan ! !
Annoyingly its looking increasingly UN-likely that I will get to Barnstaple this year....
Grrr,
Dave.
Likewise no idea you were a fellow fan either, although I am more of a geek in that respect!
Sorry that you will not be able to attend Barnstaple, hope to catch up with you soon.

I presume that it's not open to the Fisherton Operating Crew? (although the chances of me remembering it is slim!) Simon
Hi Simon
I theory as a member of the crew you should not be eligible but in fact you were not actually the show in question!
-
Looking good Mark, I know what you mean about finishing projects before starting anymore!
See you at Railex.

There have been a few changes in those 10 years, not least looking at your two young operators in the photos - certainly the one that belongs to me has got somewhat taller. It' always been a pleasure to go out to exhibitions with Fisherton, possibly the highlights being the best in show award you received at the Astrolat show, the appearance at Warley and of course operating it on the platform of Salisbury station. The look on the faces of the passengers getting off the trains were something to observe.
Thanks Mark, your help and support has been truly invaluable as well. The layout would not be what it is today without it!

As long as its got malachite green icing....
-
Thanks Nick. Indeed although just black the mix of satin, matt (smokebox and cab roof) finishes and some light weathering along with the yellow shaded green lettering and numbers creates a nice overall workmanlike effect.

Hi Tom
Was good to catch up at the weekend and great see Ropley in the flesh for the first time, it is certainly looking excellent.
I don't think I would contemplate doing a show by myself and would be happy to assist you at any shows in the future feel free to ask.

See you there with Wherewithial Quay. John.
John, I look forward to seeing you there. it should be a good weekend.
Noted in the diary.
I last caught Fisherton Sarum on platform 4 back in 2009, it will be good to see it again. :-)
Pete, glad to hear you saw it on Platform 4, and will be great to see you again at this show. see if you can notice the changes made since 2009!

Hi Jerry, Yes saw you were on the list. Indeed should be a good weekend, I look forward to seeing you and Highbury again.
-
She looks great Andrew, well done.

Bob
You have a PM!

Weren't the Bachmann Bulleid coaches the Fleischmann 3.8mm scale ones?
No they were launched by Bachmann in 1993 as new tooling in 00 there was no connection with the Fleischmann HO versions.
-
HI Eddie
Sorry Ive only just noticed your comment. Yes I do have a W class it was built with a Golden Arrow resin body on a much modified Bachmann chassis.
-
Doh! Date duly corrected now....
-
Sorry Eddie I missed your comment.
35020 was the last of the second batch and entered service as 21c20 in fully lined malachite in June 1945 and was named in October 1945 and therefore the nameplates would have been covered during that period.

Mark
I am glad you and Dan had a good and productive weekend, was certainly better than mine!

34005 Banstaple ran on the trials as follows:
Leicester - Manchester - June 22nd 1948
Manchester - Leicester - June 23rd 1948
Leicester - St Pancras - June 23rd 1948
34006 Bude ran on the trials as follows:
Marylebone - Leicester - June 8th 1948
Manchester - Sheffield - June 9th 1948
Nottingham - Marylebone - also June 9th 1948
There would have been crew familiarisation runs on those routes a few days before each of the actual trial runs.

Duly corrected, it was only a typo no need to make quite so much fuss (noting your status update too!)
