  1. Great looking model! What are you going to use for the kit built centre car windows?
  2. I was pleased when I found Kent Garden Railways near my house. Over the years Andy and his team have been able to supply my needs. Especially when I was trying to finish a N gauge layout for my club’s exhibition and needed more ballast. He was there to provide it the same morning and I was able to complete the layout in time for the exhibition. Had I had to get it from other ‘large places’ I may have had to withdraw from the show. Andy is loyal to the local clubs and goes a long way to keep his clients happy. REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR LOCAL MODEL RAILWAY SHOPS! When they are gone, they are gone! North London has lost a lot of shops. Let’s stop the rot!
  3. Found these photos of a little know hybrid experiment. Without some serious modifications to the red unit it was doomed to fail!
  4. How is the model progressing? It is a interesting location with great possibilities for varied train operation.
  5. Thanks for you quick replies! I am only researching the idea at the moment, so do not need any models. Thanks for the offer Flood. ( I thought you only knew about carriages! ) I think the main problem is coupling up different manufacturers units. Not too bad with tension lock types. But when it comes to electrical interconnections, home made adaptions are required.
  6. Has any one made a hybrid DMU formation? On www.railcar.co.uk there is a nice combination of a class 108 DMCL, class 110 TS(L) and a class 101 DMBS. It would get mixed comments at exhibitions. I guess a photo would need to be carried to prove it!
  7. BG braked gangway. You must be thinking of GUVs General utility Van. These had end doors for loading only. Usual cars, on the motor rail trains. These were used on the WCML attached to passenger trains.

  9. Nice start! Are you planning to paint the rails sides before ballasting or weather the competed track in one go with an airbrush?
  10. Looks great! Any pictures of the 'dead' pendolino front end coupling? How did you modify the nose? Have you removed the motor, or is it secretly assisting the 57?
  11. MERG do a kit. Servos, flashing lights! You have to join them first! A good wag to start adding electronics to your layout. Www.merg.org.uk/kits.php Kit number pmp21 Some youtube exist for these too.
  12. Great to see this layout at Chatham! This is one of the layouts that looks as good as it does in real life, as on website photos! Top marks! Good luck for when you rebuild the fiddle yard traverser. Might have to scratch make some fertilizer bags for loads!
  13. Bexley . 4th February 1997. Two class 37, and JRA, JNA, JXA and KEA wagons. POA wagons were recoded JXA.
  14. Bexley . 4th February 1997. Two class 37, and JRA, JNA, JXA and KEA wagons.
  15. Great bit of weathering! Not been on RHTT duties then!
  16. Nice video! When the cab light went on, I was then expecting the cab door to open and the driver get out! Must stop drinking herbal tea!!☕
  17. Good looking speed link train with nice random wagons. More interesting than bulk block trains of 22 HTA coal wagons! The different coloured roofs on the VEA vans adds interest. What did you use for the tarpaulins on the OBA wagons?
  18. Ok here is an update! The last photo is of board 16. This with boards 14 and 15 are the 'Country' section. 15 and 16 now have the cutting side and fields scenery. The bridge has been completed. We have various teams working together on the layout. Each one lead by an 'expert'. The S&T team are wiring the MERG system through out the layout.Currently on board 10 wiring in the servo control boards for the major junction. In front of them are the permanent way team laying the hand built track using C&L components. This is a hard task as the points are made to plans from templot and need to be accurate. Sometimes the S&T lads get carried away and wire up a board, only to discover that there is no track on the other side!
  19. Missed out on this one! What is the track plan like, as I can not work out the right hand side of the layout from the pictures. Great layout!
  20. Is that first van a 'shock van'? With the white markings on the side. Where they still in use at this time, or was the shock springs isolated?
