    Just been to Ally Pally and seen a nice selection of layouts. Some have been on the circuit for a number of years. It was also mentioned that they had all been seen up north as well. So my question is what do exhibition managers want for the next generation of layouts? We have had GWR BLTs, countless companies TMDs, boxfiles and now cakeboxes!

    Great layout! Nice to see large locos and short trains in a good setting. How do you work the fiddle yard? Is it cassettes or two sidings to the left and two kickback sidings to the right? Will we see this layout again, or has your son moved on to other things?

    Your layout is one of the small types that are open and welcoming! With no back scene or lighting gantries, the ‘human’ behind it is accessible for a chat! It did not matter that the class 08 had a problem, it made it real! Exhibitons can be a very social event. Thanks to Rmweb, I spoke to more people than I have before at Ally Pally. I am now more richer in knowledge and experience.

    Great to see this layout at Alexandra palace! Interesting change of fuel tanks. They looked ok. I find it strange, that you have not mentioned,that the people are all hand made from millput? These were wonderful to see. Individual figures that have not been mass produced! Where is the order form?!

    Thanks Steve for showing me the back of the layout. I saw you just after lunch. This is one of these layouts that looks great from ever angle. No half finished buildings that the public can not see. I think you said the station building was two Bachmann items cut in half and stuck together again to make it look right! Very inspirational! Now where did I put that spare 4’x2’ baseboard?

    just found this video on YouTube! Amazing footage of passenger trains near Crewe. Great detail for modelling. Combine this with Natalie Jones wonder document on the yahoo coaching stock group. Then you could identity individual trains. Are there any other videos out there like this?

    Any pictures? What were the size of the window labels? Would they be too small to see in 4mm? would there be Zimmer frames and walking sticks hanging out of the window? Just like the football ex trains that had toilet rolls flying in the wind!

    Just checke Hi! Just checked the web site and found it only has current formations as of the end of 2018. Is there a historical lookup, as W&S has now demised!! There appears to be no AL06 and the coaches are now part of AL05.

    Will the mk4 sets have four 2nd class carriages and a dvt, or will they include a service vehicle? Possibly converting a 2nd into a buffet car like the mk3 ones running for Greater Anglian at the moment. Any ideas?

    Great to see all the hard work has been recognised by the public! It can be a big risk when you try new ideas of building and operating a layout. Curtains and side back scenes may be come a thing of the past now!

    Sounds a great idea changing channels in the pubs. I wonder how many will last the whole hour? Hope it does not start a fight!! Maybe you could also do the same in any late night retail shop selling televisions?

    Interesting that both winners had war themes. More opportunities for moving gimmicks to impress the judges, especially as they all worked. Also by chance the series is being screened leading up to the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War. THEY SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!
