OK. Its not that then. If cv8 has not worked I'd send it back to Charlie. See what happens when you get a replacement. Wiggy.

Check the settings in CV66 and CV95 and let me know the value. Wiggy.

Yes cv8=8. As far as I know there is no setting for forward speed and reverse speed but I'll have a look but never had to choose that option so unless someone else knows different, have a feeling that there might be but until I have a play I can't say for sure but anything is possible with ESU.

Yes if its from Charlie it will probably be Howes as Bif does not do a class 41 Warship as yet. Is this the new one from Kernow? Wiggy.

Who's sound file are you using and what CV's have to tried to change? Is it the overall volume you want to adjust or individual sounds? Total volume is CV63= you don't need to adjust CV31 or CV32 both 0 Replied in good faith. Wiggy.

Yes but it involves quite a few CV changes as you have to make a curved line straight. If you want them you have my email address. Wiggy.

Just had another look into this and tried the flowing. Loaded the same 4.0 file to two identical locos both with the same address and set them off round the track. One very slightly caught the other but nothing to worry about. I then converted one file to v5 and did the same. The converted file took some time to accelerate up to full speed consequently the other loco on v4 ran into the back of it. Checking the v4 file against the v5 file I found that in the conversion the v5 file defaulted to an Exponential speed curve meaning that if the original v4 file was a linear speed curve (straight line) when converted it change to an Exponential speed curve. (starts slow and gradually increases) Wiggy.

From what I'm reading, the issue is consisting V4 decoders with V5 decoders in the same type of loco. As the V5 has done away with a few features like CV6 and CV48 as an example and the Hornby/Electron motor control to name but a few its early days so I think the same issue was around with 3.5 consisting with V4. At the moment the best way is to consist is with the same type of decoder V4 with V4 and V5 with V5. I'm sure you will get the same issue consisting with ESU and Zimo etc.. Wiggy.
  9. I see Hattons have a pre order on the Irish class 121's. https://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/SiteResults.aspx?searchfield=murphy models class 121&utm_campaign=Project Announcement - Murphy Models CIE Class 121 170419 (JsCcsy)&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Potential Irish Model Customers&_ke=eyJrbF9lbWFpbCI6ICJuZTFsc20xdGhAYnRpbnRlcm5ldC5jb20iLCAia2xfY29tcGFueV9pZCI6ICJKR1FlWGgifQ%3D%3D Hope the link works if not go to Hattons web site. Try increasing CV4=200 just to see if it comes back. If so start reducing CV4 until it stops then up one to bring it back. Not knowing Bif's file if it has the braking function on,CV4 maybe set high so you use the brakes to stop. Wiggy.

Hi Vivian, After you have done the CV54=0 and F1 thing reset CV53=140 and try it then. Let me know how you get on. You have my email address. Neil.
  12. Ballymungret's first outing at the Severn Valley Railway's model railway weekend.
  13. I think its a Howe's sound taken from a French SNCF A1AA1A 6200 Email Charlie and ask him. Wiggy.
  14. No, it only came out on the v4 AFAIK. Wiggy.
  15. It would be interesting to know what sounds you do not need and what sounds you do need. Also lights etc. Steam and diesel. As most developers of sound projects like to cater for all tastes and the sounds on the decoder do replicate the sounds available on the prototype but you are not going to please everyone. I know you don't want birds singing or bacon frying on the shovel or do you!!!! Wiggy.
  16. The new ESU v5 decoders will have 32 functions but as far as I know only the ECoS will handle that amount. Lenz I believe are brining out a new or updated command station but at the moment Lenz go up to 28. Many others will only go up to 20 and some only up to 13. Wiggy.
  17. Noel, The tender is a solid block. There is room in the loco for the decoder and speaker. Wiggy.
  18. No reason just reedited it to keep it simple. Wiggy.
  19. Thats Dynamic braking not independant. All most the same but if it works and you are OK with it then thats fine. Wiggy.
  20. Should be the same as the v4 standard decoder and micro's slightly dearer. Wiggy.
  21. Correct. You need the independent brake file (with or without sound in it) to use the braking on a F button. So you need the created sound project to add it to it. Wiggy.
  22. Hi Adam, I've done a few 37's so if you pm me or email me I'll try and help you out. Wiggy.
  23. All of this is doable and more but what you have to consider is the free space on the decoder as it can easily eat up the decoders Mb capacity. Will people appreciate what is actually happening if you have alternate coal shovelling for light, heavy and stationery motions etc? Same with guards whistles, door shuts the list goes on, you can only get so much on to a decoder. Wiggy.
  24. It is quite easy to do but there are different ways to do this on Zimo against ESU sound chips. Both have the same result. Its down to the producer of the sound file to set this up but the problem being is one loco is never exactly the same as another. The other issue is the same type of loco by two different manufactures having different gearing. You also get people fitting a sound decoder for say a 8F into lets say a Std 5 and of course the wheel diameter is different so that will alter the chuff rate. At the end of the day yes you can set this up yourself if you know what decoder is in the loco and what CV's to change in what sequence. Hope this helps. Wiggy.
  25. I've had a listen to the French Sulzer the 68000 and 63000 from the ESU web site and the engine looping sound file on both is not brilliant and I guess its an old V3.5 sound transferred to a V4.0 file BUT if Howes is an original recording that they have done from that loco then I guess it would be better but not having listened to the Howes sound I can't comment just assuming that they are using that file. It may sound different in a loco as I've only listened to them on a decoder not in a loco but the choice is yours. I've also listened to the 16TschN26/26 engine in the East German locos but at the end of the day if you are happy with which ever one you choose thats your choice. I'd be interested in what you go for. Wiggy.
