  1. Hi Nigel, Thank you for your reply. Re brakes. I want to use two braking options. One for loco and one for train. So lets say F5 for loco braking and that is set at a lower rate than train braking. Then Train braking say on F6 set at a higher rate so you have the option of F5 or F6 for braking. At the moment I can only find one set of braking settings using Cv's 309 to set the function key and 349 and 394 for intensity. I'll have another look for the start, middle and end for the functions as I may have missed it as you will need a start sound and a loop sound and an end sound. All I can find is a loop at the moment. Neil.
  2. I have a few Zimo questions if anyone can help with any? I have my own sound files that I have had working for a couple of years now but want to bring them up to date with a few alterations but stuck on a few files and functions. I'm using the Zimo sound programmer and JMRI So I have around 10 or so steam files and I've started to go through them and the first thing I did was to update the decoder firmware. Since then I can't get the Kadee shuffle to work again. It worked OK before the update. I'm using CV115 and CV116 as before and Function 8 by changing the function to 'uncouple' but nothing is working on the updated decoders but still works on the locos that are not updated. Also I'm assuming that I can only use one braking application on the file as I would like to use two, one for loco and one for train application. I did ask this question on the Zimo forum but got no replies after waiting over two weeks. Finally I can't work out how to have a start, loop and finish on a function sound slot. So you have something like a coal shovelling where the fireman picks up the shovel and opens the firebox door to start with then shovels the coal on a loop then closes the firebox door and puts down the shovel to finish. This will apply to other function sounds. On the same theme how do you get different sounds in the loop and to exit out of them, for example with the coal shovelling, the sound of the fireman shovelling the coal dose not sound the same for each shovel load and how to exit after say 4 or 5 shovels, I can only find a loop that plays for the length of that loop and not halfway through. I hope I've explained things that I'm trying to do so any help on the above is appreciated. Thank you in advance. Neil.
  3. Maybe your not looking hard enough? http://www.wheeltappersdccsounds.co.uk/page16/index.html
  4. Very nice Noel but how did you get the numbers reversed???
  5. I think the programming of decoders in Bachmann locos is not just in the 121 or 117 DMU's as I've customers that have had the same problems on steam locos where it takes up to 20 mins or so just to read and write CV changes. You have also got the normal stuff of dirty programming tracks, wheels and poor connections but all in all Bachmann locos do tend to play up some. I don't think its a big deal just normal run of the day stuff. The complaints I've had are very few and far between. Wiggy.
  6. What sort of problems with the 117 and 121, assuming we are talking Bachmann 121 and not Dapol? Maybe best to email me as we don't want to open up a can of worms here. Wiggy.
  7. Are Bachmann now fitting stay alive capacitors to their steam locos, in particular the Robinson04 ROD? Have a customer having problems reading CV's on his sound decoder. Thanks in advance. Wiggy.
  8. Locoman is the UK supplier of D&H chips as far as I know. Wiggy.
  9. Interesting that they are using a 5 DCC!!!! Wiggy.
  10. If you have the project from Legomanbiffo you will need his wiring digram to wire the Heljan lights up. I'm assuming you are talking Heljan warship as the page title is Dapol 48xx/58xx? Wiggy.
  11. I'm assuming we are talking O gauge? I don't know of a Heljan 00 gauge 'Warship' BUT I might be completely wrong. If it is O gauge, You will find the lighting set up a lot different to any other plus the sounds are new. Wiggy.
  12. Which loco do you have? The 48xx are auto trailer fitted so you could have the auto trailer sound feature on that loco if you are intending to use it with the auto trailer. The 58xx were not auto trailer fitted so that would be just normal use. Wiggy.
  13. OK, it may just be a coincidence but it seams to do it just as it hits that isolating gap on the points. Had a similar thing today, never happened before and it did it 4 times but always in the same place which pointed me to the track. Looking at the video is the back axle on the leading bogie on the track or just off it? Dose it do it in the same place? Just an observation. Wiggy.
  14. Just a clarification. LokSound 5 DCC is DCC only, Meaning it is simply not multiprotocol. It is still a “dual mode” meaning it will work on Digital and (DC)Analog so it will still work on DC layouts (with the normal DC limits). It will not work on AC Analog though… In Digital mode it will just speak the DCC digital language, not any other digital languages. MFX/Motorola/Etc. Wiggy.
  15. A couple of these will do it proud.
  16. I would say that is dead. Where did you get it from as the Loksound 5's have not been out long so it should still be in warranty. Return it and see what happens you've nothing to lose. Wiggy.
  17. Sounds (pardon the pun) like you have a sugar cube kit there. Yes you need to build up the sound box. Smear some PVA glue around the joints where you have stuck the little box's together to make the box air tight NOT the speaker top. Wiggy.
  18. The 05 uses a 28mm in the nose so as a guess the 03 maybe the same but not having done one as yet I can't be certain. Maybe no help to you at all. Buy one and find out. Wiggy.
  19. Depending on what your loco is and the gauge N gauge, O gauge or 00 gauge you need to set your max speed first. Then adjust CV57 at speed step 1/28 until you get your chuffs per rev. Then adjust CV58 at speed step 4 or 5/28 until you get the same. Finally adjust CV249 at high speed around speed step 22/28 to get it to sound right as you will never be able to count the chuffs at that speed. It will also be advisable to use a linear speed curve when doing this. Wiggy.
  20. No not as far as I know, you can tell the decoder type but not who's file it is. Unless the programmer put his own i.d. in on CV 105 or CV 106 and I only do that for my own reference. You should be able to tell from the function list. Theres not many that do a class 50 file so not a lot to choose from. Maybe put the function list up on here and someone may identify it. Wiggy.
  21. Its a 2 year warranty on ESU decoders. Wiggy.
  22. Are you running it with 2x 21 pin sound decoders or an 8 pin with the 21 pin adaptor? Does it still fail in the faulty car with both the loksound decoders if you swap them over? Dose sound like a faulty drive car as you say it's failing in reverse and forward not good either. Wiggy.
