  1. Hi Mike, The reference on page 89 of the manual refers to individual sound slots NOT the main volume which CV31 and CV32 should both be =0 Then CV63= the value you require.(0-192) A little misleading but hope this clears things up. Wiggy.
  2. Its a while since I did one but I don't think there is a connection on the PCB. I used an ESU 21 pin decoder that comes with a speaker attached so I just replaced the speaker with 2x 8 Ohm bigger speakers in the body. If I remember there is a light plug thats in the wrong socket so I'm not sure if that has been sorted by Heljan yet. Can't remember what it works but you will know when the lights don't work correctly. Wiggy..
  3. Yes so far running smoothly although the couplings are cocking over to one side but not derailing but I think that is down to the amount of wagons as I do like to run prototypical train lengths. Just sanding down the next 18 container wagons axle end caps and checking the couplings for the B&I containers. A bit tedious but worth it in the end to get smooth running wagons without having to apply any lubricant, well not at this moment in time. Wiggy.
  4. I would guess so, I've not tried it yet. I'll give it a go and do a video when I get a minute. Wiggy.
  5. This will be the last run of the year. Irish containers.
  6. Yes correct, or lower up to you. Wiggy.
  7. I'm pretty sure you can program it not to have sound when on DC. I would have to look into that and it may need a CV change or specified not to have sound when on DC when you order the decoder.(I think you may already have the decoder if its a V4) Wiggy.
  8. Not a Zimo expert but I believe you need to use a 8 Ohm on Zimo micro decoders, and the std decoders will take both. Given in good faith as they say. Wiggy.
  9. That was just to try the running. It will put all the chuffs out of sync. Try it with the functions all off. My guess is the loco. Give it a good run in. If you haven't got an oval then stick it on a rolling road for a couple of hours. If still the same I'd contact Rails and see if they will exchange or refund. Wiggy.
  10. Does it do it in both directions? Had one where the motor clamp was to tight causing an issue with no messing on the gears. Turn the BEMF off and see how it runs but thats not going to cure the problem. Who did you get the loco off? If there was an issue with the decoder settings then there would be more complaints and the only issue I'm aware of is loco issues on a couple. Wiggy.
  11. After you have done the auto tune, reset CV53=140. Do the auto tune again then do the CV53 reset. I have known of a couple of the Heljan 43xx's with poor running problems and were exchanged, the loco that is. Wiggy.
  12. If its a brand new loco just out it could have the v5 in it. Difficult to say without a programmer. Wiggy.
  13. Selects have finished now, selects not produced for the ESU v5 so that maybe the reason Bachmann have gone on to Zimo, cheeper than the v5 I suspect.. Wiggy.
  14. Yes installed with stay alive. I have one, loco that is. Wiggy.

    Loksound 5

I'm not sure what you are struggling with but if I can help then send me a PM and I'll help you out one way or another. Wiggy.
  16. Thanks Kirley, Looks like I'll have to make one up but worth asking the question. I didn't know if they were in any kits or not. Wiggy.
  17. Not sure what you call it but does anyone know where I can get the boiler door locking handle in the attached photo? 4mm scale please or anything similar to whats in the attached photo. Thank you. Wiggy.
  18. Hi Mick, As a general rule all new Farish N scale and Branchline 009 locos will be fitted with coreless motors. Some of the older Farish locos as they are being upgraded to NEXT18 decoders and sound capability will also be modified to include coreless motors, but possibly not all of them. Branchline OO locos will predominantly be 3 pole cored motors but this is very much dependant on size of the loco and the required pulling power. Dapol do not use coreless motors in ANY of their models. Information supplied in good faith. Wiggy.
  19. Is this a factory fitted ESU sound chip? The chances are its part of the sound file and may not be changeable via a CV change. However it might also be on a separate function button. I think you are talking about the cylinder drain cocks? Another thing to take into consideration is if it is a factory fitted ESU sound chip it maybe a select decoder(not re-blow able unless its another select file) but I've not come across one in a steam loco. If its not factory fitted then you need to find who created the sound file to ask the question. Hope this helps. Wiggy.
  20. First contact the supplier of the decoder for them to do it for you. I'm assuming its an ESU decoder? If no joy come back to me via a PM. Wiggy.
  21. Yes but obversely you will not get any sound, it will work as a normal none sound decoder unless you use F1 then it will use the motor settings depending on make of decoder and setup. I'm assuming its a Zimo or ESU sound decoder not a TTS? Wiggy.
  22. You can put a 'sound fade' on to a function button to fade the sound down. Wiggy.

    Sound Decoders

Pretty sure the Zimo decoders come without a speaker but not 100% sure. ESU decoders come with the speaker wired to the decoder BUT I'm sure if you pre ordered an ESU decoder the supplier will desolder the speaker from the decoder if thats what you want. Failing that just cut and insulate the speaker wires yourself. Wiggy.
  24. Opp's, Stand corrected, yes you can do the same on an ESU decoder. Wiggy.
