  1. A southbound GNER HST arrives at Newcastle on 5th June 2004, passing 60009 (which was deputising for 6201 'Princess Elizabeth') on a 'Steamy Affairs' rail tour. Trevor
  2. These were all taken on 27th August 1990 when 75048 and the American S160 No 5820 were in action. Looks like I spent the whole time in and around Keighley. Trevor
  3. The following four were taken on 1st May 1976, when 'Austerity' 2-8-0 No 1931 was in action, the number at the time being the one it bore when purchased from the Swedish State Railways. This was a brief visit with friends, on our way to photograph 4472 and 790 in action on BR in the Carnforth area. The locations I will quote are educated guesses - please correct me if I'm wrong. Climbing south through Damems station Between Haworth and Oxenhope Returning north just after leaving Haworth Passing Damems loop Trevor
  4. Here's another view of 'Royal Train' loco 91029 at Newcastle, this time in GNER livery on 5th April 2003. In the background is 67017 standing with the second leg of a Herfordshire Rail Tours special from Kings Cross. Trevor
  5. @ Zomboid Just realised, the previous negs on my strip of 35 film showing the Royal Train included this view of it coming over the King Edward Bridge into Newcastle. A shortened train of 5 coaches plus the DVT on the rear. Looks like I legged it from the bridge to the building in the centre of Swan House roundabout for the elevated shot of the train departing north! 91029 on KEBr, 28th June 1991 Trevor
  6. Brilliant! Thanks very much for that info. I must have been looking in the wrong place! If I remember correctly the loco was immaculate and I think it had white wheel rims/tyres. There must be other shots of this somewhere, I expect. Cheers Trevor
  7. 'Snap!l (almost) Newcastle 30th May 1988 Haworth, KWVR 17th April 1987 Trevor
  8. This is a recent scan from a neg I shot on 28th June 1991 of 91029 'Queen Elizabeth' heading north out of Newcastle. The info I wrote on the neg packet says '91029, Royal Train'. Could this be the train conveying Her Majesty to officially open the electrification to Edinburgh? I should have made more precise notes at the time but unfortunately I can't seem to find the info of the occasion online anywhere. Thanks in advance for any ideas on this Trevor
  9. Not wishing to hijack anyone else's thread (and not having found one, anyway!) I have started my own, to show early pictures taken on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. Please feel free to add your own photos. I'll start off with some b&w pictures taken over the weekend of 4th and 5th May 1991, when the active locos were Standard 4 No 75078 (running tender-first up the bank to Oxenhope) and USA tank No 30072. 75078 departs Keighley 75078 gets into her stride shortly after leaving Keighley 75078 between Haworth and Oxenhope 75078 returning between Oxenhope and Haworth 75078 approaching Keighley ...and arriving at Keighley station 30072 departing Keighley ..and between Haworth and Oxenhope Trevor
  10. Three views of 43180 taken on 29th June 1998 at the place which its nameplates commemorate.. Trevor
  11. 45596 'Bahamas' receiving attention at Haworth, KWVR in September 1994 Trevor
  12. I haven't been photographing these things specifically over the years, but here are a few from my archives... 220011 at Newcastle on 24th May 2011 220026 at Newcastle on 7th June 2018 221121 at Newcastle on 13th March 2020 221141 stabled outside Newcastle (on the route of the Scotswood branch) on 14th February 2017 222001 at Chesterfield on 21st July 2019 222013 at Derby on 26th July 2010 ..and here's one I didn't note down at Newcastle on 11th May 2012 Trevor
  13. That 's a model, surely? Trevor
  14. More HSTs in the (urban) landscape - too far away to identify! Southbound passing Manors station, Newcastle on 15th August 1986 Coming off the King Edward Bridge into Gateshead on 26th March 1986 Trevor
  15. Wow! I watched this over three sessions (it lasts about 72 minutes in total) and I was completely enthralled. I suspect this will not be everybody's cup of tea, however - it is rather quirky at times and does not just feature a procession of standard three-quarter front views of trains powering past (although it does include quite a few of these). But the action shots are superb. The viewpoints chosen, the lighting, the sound and the exhaust effects are, in the main, brilliant. Despite the weird premise in the title It comes across rather as the adventures of three likeable German enthusiasts exploring four of this country's heritage lines and also taking in a main line run by 'Jubilee' Galatea. This latter section provided my favourite clip - two of the filmmakers are standing on a footbridge as the train roars past below, with an unexpected result. I had to replay that bit of the film to take it in! As well as the trains we see lots of examples of the peripheral scenes on and around the railways. I do not speak German so I missed the point of the 'talking' sheep and cows beside the NYMR - I assume they were making some references to the hordes of enthusiasts who had come to enjoy the sight of steam in action on the 1 in 49 up to Goathland. The production values of this film are superb - the camerawork, sound and editing would not be out of place on a TV programme. Thank you for providing the link. I expect I will watch it again, several times, in case I missed anything the first time through! Trevor
  16. More HSTs in Gateshead from the 1980s.. Southbound near the site of Bensham station on 30th November 1986. The tracks in the foreground lead down to Dunston and eventually to Carlisle. Southbound on the High Level Bridge on 2nd March 1987. The artwork in the foreground ('Bottle Bank') was removed when the new Hilton Hotel was built on the site. Another at one of my favourite locations before trees and overhead wires spoilt the view - 43158 northbound near King Edward Bridge Junction on 20th June 1987. Looks like the driver has 'copped' this power car - the number on the front has been underlined! Trevor
  17. Ha! This reminds me of this shot of mine from 3rd August 1965 taken at Haymarket station, Edinburgh. That's D5338 on the right. More of an age of innocence then, I think? (Young cousin and brother centre stage). Trevor
  18. I've shared this one on another thread but it fits here nicely as well 0-6-0ST No 2 is the centre of attraction on 15th February 1969, the final day of normal steam working on the NCB Philadelphia system, near Sunderland. I think that's Lambton Coke Works in the background. I cannot now remember what the problem was with the loco. Trevor
  19. More Pacers + HSTs at Newcastle from 1997... 142026+43089 on 21st September 1997 142017+43193 the following day Trevor
  20. Spotters at Newcastle on 19th August 1997 (or perhaps they were just waiting for a train?) (Note the damage to the far headlights cover) Trevor
  21. Has anyone photographed the rebranded 'Flying Scotswoman' DVT? Many thanks in advance Trevor
