  1. https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/history-of-hull-paragon-station.178314/ Sorry to interject, thought this might be of interest to Mick Nicholson who may be able to help (micknich2003)?
  2. I'm pretty sure that's a Class 37 cab ride from Paragon to Selby. There's also a 66 cab ride from Hedon Road to Gascoigne Wood on YouTube somewhere.
  3. Heard these two go through but didn't see them assuming they were the usual DRS 20/3's.Gutted.
  4. I'll be sad to see the Gilberyke semaphores go as I grew up in that area and they played an ever present backdrop to my childhood. Whether it was out playing with my mates or watching the railway scene later as an enthusiast they were a constant part of the scenery. Still a few months to see them though, luckily I cycle that in that area regularly.
  5. Last ones for now... The ill-fated 31 436 calling at Gilberdyke, just three passengers and a road bike await. 31 448 at speed on a York-Hull service.
  6. 47 559 passing the banner repeater signal mentioned earlier in this thread. I think this was the Tenby-Hull summer only working that ran for a short time in 1985. Usually turned up a WR 47.
  7. Lincoln's class 114 E53017 & E54010 waiting for the off at Gilberdyke. 1984.
  8. 47 425 again at Gilberdyke. Seeing the old station waiting rooms brings back memories. Flower pots lovingly tended by the staff, IIRC the stationmaster's name at this time was Carole. Lovely lady with a West Country accent. It was always a tidy station back then. Pete.
  9. Interesting sign at Oxmardyke...don't know if it's still there.
  10. Sorry for going a bit off topic - I just wanted to show the changes in the tracks and platforms back when...
  11. 47 425 passing the signalbox at Gilberdyke and 47 444 on acetic acid tanks going the other way. Don't know which signalman had the small moped...?
  12. 31 421 with a Hull-Manchester service and 31 432 stopping at Gilberdyke.
  13. 37 209 pulling into the down platform at Gilberdyke. Running in lieu of a failed DMU I believe. Taken from the car park.
  14. 31 106 & 31 327 with a loaded Tilcon thundering through the middle road at Gilberdyke.
  15. As promised, some pics from the early eighties at Gilberdyke and Oxmardyke... First 31 166 at approaching Gilberdyke with a freightliner. Note the old "hut" that was at the eastern end of the up platform.
  16. I have fond memories of Gilberdyke Station and the surrounding area having grown up in nearby Newport. I have lots of pictures taken at Gilberdyke and Oxmardyke in the early to mid eighties. I will have to dig them out and upload them.
  17. Superb pictures Mick. Did you work the Oxmardyke box at any time as well as Gilberdyke? Cheers, Pete.
  18. Cheers Simon. That's precisely the appeal...Nothing out of the ordinary. Simply the norm back then is now a fascinating look back in time.
  19. I can fondly remember the station yard in Goole one Saturday in early 1980. There were two 37's (37113 & 37123) and three 08's (08099, 08776 & 08777) parked up there, all switched off and doors unlocked. As a lad of thirteen at the time me and my mates cheekily cabbed each one and for a few minutes at least imagined we were drivers. Sad to see Goole yard gone now.
  20. Judging from the date, domino headcode panel and low positioned nameplate its likely 55008.
