  1. Thank you both for the replies and information it is much appreciated. I can crack on with this area now and know it is something like the real thing.
  2. Hello everyone, I have some Wills 00 gauge cable troughing (I need some more) and some dummy Peco point motors and I am just wondering if their position looks ok on the crude photo attached below. I intend to get some relay boxes and would the positions of the relay boxes also be ok? I believe the orange/red pipes are so Tamper operators know where the cables are and that they just carry cable to individual components hence the 2 lengths of cable troughing along the 2 tracks. I would like to know so I can begin to fit the components and then ballast around them. Thanks for any help in advance.
  3. Morning all. A rainy day (not had many) lockdown pastime was to dabble with some unpainted 00 gauge figures. I opted for a Preiser set rather than risk the cheap packs on the internet and, joined by the wife, we set about them. Here are some in the primer state and some near enough complete. Still lots to go at but as a very 1st attempt I don't think we did too bad a job! More updates soon.
  4. Hello Richard, I have been watching your Everard Junction videos for some time now and always find them informative and inspirational but never commented before. More recently I found your branch line scenery stunning and looking forward to seeing your next video which may show your scrap yard which looks like another great scene with lots of interest.
  5. I like those 37s! The rusty track, scenery and the signal gantry look great in those photos.
  6. Looks great and you can't go wrong with some class 50s running. I will follow this.
  7. Thanks for the comments so far everyone. So there is one road modelled which spans the 4 tracks into the station and provides access to the town centre. On the wide footpath I was thinking of having a bus stop. So to the left of the road is the station and town centre. To the right will be a red brick old mill theme which I am hoping to have a canal cutting through the buildings.
  8. Hello everyone. This layout has come to an end and I would like to thank everyone for their likes and comments over the years as it was very much appreciated. I really liked many aspects of the layout but some of the points were difficult to reach and track work a bit tight and complicated. I have a new layout under construction called Durrington Central which again is a modern 00 gauge end to end layout on a 2ft shelf so I can still get the car in the garage if needed! Here is the link and a photo https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/154559-durrington-central-a-fictional-town-somewhere-in-the-north-west-of-england/ Thanks again!
  9. Good morning everyone. So here are a few photos of the town centre low relief backscene which is above station level. Just your Metcalfe 00 low relief town buildings, builders sheets with Hornby and Bachmann figures. Which brings me to 00/H0 figures. I thought a good rainy day lockdown project would be to buy some unpainted figures and have a go at painting them. I will post some photos of the progress soon. Jobs still to do on the town center backscene are road markings, road signs, station signs , maybe paint the bare boards sky blue and more people.
  10. Hello everyone and welcome to my new 00 gauge layout called Durrington Central. Durrington is a fictional town in The North West of England which is served by a spur off the West Coast Main Line. Durrington Central is the main station on this line which is in a cutting below the street level and has 4 platforms which are all bi-directional. The station sees quite a few rail tours so be prepared for some unusual loco hauled specials! The station also sees passenger services and freight from the various FOC's such as Freightliner, Colas, DB and DRS. The layout is a 2ft shelf end to end layout in the garage designed so I can still get the car in the garage if needed! Below is a rough track plan which is not to scale and will be altered as I go along with a few sidings here and there and maybe even a TMD. The track will not be this straight as I intend to have some nice flowing curving railway lines. My old layout on here was https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/103667-a-fictional-region-in-the-north-west-of-england-a-dad-son-00-gauge-garage-layout-was-attic/&tab=comments#comment-2042433 and many of the items from this layout are to be recycled and used on Durrington Central . Here are a few photos of Durrington Central which is made from some Metcalfe low relief bank kits and other bits and bobs. The station is low relief and serves as a scenic break as the fiddle yard (split into two is behind it). The platforms are MDF covered with various Metcalfe builders sheets and the platform roofs are Peco. The low relief town center buildings which dominate the station are also Metcalfe with many being re-used from my old layout. The 00 gauge people are a mixture of Hornby and Bachmann. The fiddle yard is split into 2 so the first 4 tracks leave through the station and around the layout and return on the back 5 tracks. This leaves locos stuck at the end of the fiddle yard which means I either have to uncouple and move them to the opposite end of the train or run engines light to the opposite end of the train and couple up and take over the train leaving the loco that brought it disconnected in the fiddle yard. I hope that the 2nd option of running locos light engine will create additional interest and play factor as well as save handling locomotives. Below is a photo of the fiddle yard. I have soldered some dropper wires to the underside of the track on each siding in the fiddle yard. Thank you for looking and I hope I can provide you with frequent updates in the future of the progress!
  11. Looks good Jack. I like the photos of the locomotives!
  12. Great modern image layout. Looks brilliant. I really like the town scene and station area.
  13. Hello Jack, I've just searched Croston station on Flickr and look forward to seeing how this progresses!
  14. Yes it was today! Their Orange/yellow Colas cousins are more common through Wigan on the logs and mountsorrel ballast.
  15. It is rare enough to see a Freightliner 70 north of Acton Bridge on the WCML these days but a Freightliner 70 on a stock move? Freightliner 70003 is photographed at Balshaw Lane Junction in Euxton, Lancashire in slight fog hauling 5K66 Longtown M.O.D to Crewe C.S. (L&Nwr Site) with a Transpennine Express Nova 3 set in tow.
  16. Looking and sounding great, 50015 Valiant calls at Irwell Vale station on the morning of Saturday 16th November hauling the diesel diagram on The East Lancashire Railway from Heywood to Rawtenstall. What a locomotive!
  17. 20118 and 20132 on 6Z21 Ellesmere Port Manisty Wharf to Garston (Speke) T.C. cargo wagon move at Helsby station in Cheshire.
  18. The return leg of "The Class 50 Terminator - Phoenixed" railtour by Pathfinders stands at Exeter St Davids. Running as 1Z53 Penzance to London Waterloo. 50049 and 50007 are in their new GBRF livery.
  19. The Class 50 Terminator Phoenixed 1Z50 London Paddington to Penzance passing the Dawlish sea wall on a gloomy Saturday 23rd March. With planned changes afoot for the Dawlish sea wall I thought I would go against my normal kind of shots and get a train in the landscape.
  20. In GBRF livery 50007 (50014 Warspite) looks stunning as it hauls the mark III set and 41001 HST prototype running as the 17:40 Oxenhope to Keighley service on The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
  21. DCR 56091 & 56103 6Z55 Chaddesden to Carlisle Kingmoor Virtual Quarry. On 13th May DCR 56091 and 56103 power down the fast line at Balshaw Lane Junction with the 6Z55 Chaddesden to Carlisle Kingmoor Virtual Quarry. This is the empty train and will be loaded at the Network Rail site at Carlisle Kingmoor where the wagons will be loaded with recycled aggregate that has been reclaimed from engineering jobs.
  22. Colas Rail 70815 powers over Balshaw Lane Junction in Lancashire with 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk logs.
  23. Behind the railway embankment is the infamous Saddle Junction at Newtown around 1 mile from Wigan town centre. Anyone who has negotiated this road junction successfully will know that its every man for himself and now cycle lanes are king!
  24. Hello I have just come across this thread as the name tempted me in. The layout looks great and there is a nice collection of rolling stock and locos that are right down my street. I like your scenery too . . . those sandy cliffs remind me of Dawlish. Not that I have ever been to Dawlish but I do like looking at photos on Flickr that people have taken in the area. Maybe I should get myself to The Cumbrian Coast or The North Wales Coast to do some photography by the sea of my own. Keep up the great work!
