  2. 50007 and 50049 are an awesome sight as they stop at Wigan North Western station around 7am on the morning of Saturday 5th January 2019 with the 1Z28 The Waverley Reunion Pathfinder Tour from Birmingham New Street to Tweedbank.
  3. Great photographs and nice collection of rolling stock and loco as usual. Never seen 37099 to photograph it yet but looks smart as a model.
  4. A classic shot of a 158 DMU crossing Barmouth Bridge on 25th March this year. A 158 DMU in Criccieth 27th March this year. A Northern Rail 150/142 combo in the Rochdale area near to Smithy Bridge on 25th July this year.
  5. Something new of interest in the North West. GBRF 60095 6F67 Tuebrook Sidings to Hanson Ashton In Makerfield. This stone flow originates from Hanson Shapbeck quarry in Cumbria and there are two trips from Tuebrook sidings in Liverpool to Hanson Ashton In Makerfield. This train is currently running Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It has been some years since the Haydock Branch has seen any freight trains. These are various photos of the train on the Haydock Branch line. This one is from Bryn station in Wigan.
  6. Colas Rail 70817 approaches Mintholme level crossing in the Brindle area with the 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk log train. Heading towards Bamber Bridge station is Colas Rail 70817 and the 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk log train doing the honours in lovely afternoon sunshine. Colas Rail 70817 passing slowly through Euxton Balshaw Lane station on the slow line approaching a red signal were it will be briefly held to allow a passenger service to pass on the fast line. 6E32 Preston to Lindsey empty bitumen tanks at Bamber Bridge station with Colas Rail 70813 providing the power. Colas Rail 70811 powers through Leyland station on the fast line with the Saturday logs running as 6V38 Carlisle to Chirk log train. Colas Rail 70811 running the empties back to Carlisle from Chirk on a Sunday day time path as 6C37 photographed at Boars Head, Standish in Wigan.
  7. 50008 Thunderer working light engine through Reddish North station in Stockport from Leicester L.I.P to Bury East Lancs Railway running as 0Z15. I believe that 50008 is collecting 50015 Valiant from The East Lancs Railway and then go to the SVR Railway tomorrow.
  8. Deltic 55009 D9009 is photographed at Euxton Balshaw Lane station hammering down the slow line in charge of the 1Z41 Huddersfield to Edinburgh "The Deltic Retro Scot 111" on 25th August 2018.
  9. Have you any more photos of 68003 now you have weathered it Jack as it looks good.
  10. Nice work Jack. I like the last photo of 68003 with the rake of wagons you have done.
  11. Good evening as I ponder over the future of this layout I am still buying locos for which ever direction my decision takes me. Here is my latest purchase, Hornby 50040 Leviathan which I can get away with running on rail tours as this loco and livery is not my era but having seen a few class 50s in action in the last 12 months or so, I can't help but be impressed by them.
  12. Some great modelling of Wigan buildings. So realistic that I can smell the pies!
  13. A couple of recent photos of mine. 70814 departs Dalston station in Cumbria with 6S36 Dalston to Grangemouth tanks. 70813 passing Bamber Bridge station and level crossing frame signal box with 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk logs. 70813 at Red Bank in Warrington with 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk logs
  14. Thanks Neil, your views and comments are much appreciated. I have not done much recently as I am contemplating a new L shaped layout which would be around 18 ft X 18 ft and maybe 2 1/2 to 3ft shelf at the back of the garage. This way I can still get the car in the garage if needed and it will free up the floor space in the garage.
  15. Today I was looking on Realtime trains to see if the Ravenhead sidings in St Helens to Arpley sidings train was running through Bryn in Wigan and found some extra freight working I havnt seen before. They look to be linked to the Hanson Shap to Hanson Ashton In Makerfield stone trains that have been in the system for ages and never ran. Maybe something could be about to start. . . . After all what would GBRF use all these extra class 56 and 60s on if there were not new flows to find traction for? http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/BYN/2018/07/23/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=freight&order=actual
  16. I have installed a Hornby sapphire decoder into my Colas Class 70 and it runs sweet as a nut. Very pleased to finally have a Colas Rail 70.
  17. Nice photos Jim. I did intend to get some photos but when I looked on the maps you had already left Chorley, swapped ends and were powering down the fast and I would not have got to Euxton in time.
  18. Hello Jim. Do you have any details of the Chorley job you are on tomorrow please as I am only 7 minutes from Euxton and 10 from Chorley or Buckshaw Parkway?
  19. Hello everyone. Today my Bachmann Colas Rail class 70 arrived from Hattons and 70805 is a fantastic model. Here is a link to some photos of it on my layout running in analogue before I install a decoder hence all the lights lit on the loco! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/103667-a-fictional-region-in-the-north-west-of-england-a-dad-son-00-gauge-garage-layout-was-attic/page-7&do=findComment&comment=3228380
  20. So my Bachman Colas Class 70 finally arrived and 70805 is a beauty of a model. Here are some photos of it running in analogue before I install a DCC decoder.
  21. Hello everyone. Once again I am having doubts about continuing with this layout and whether to start again with an end to end 3ft shelf layout that could potentially be approx 8ft and 18ft and 8ft running around 3 sides of the garage. The two 8ft sides would be fiddle yards to hold stock and the locos would run light engine to one fiddle yard, couple to stock and then run the train to the other fiddle yard. This would ease my phobia of picking up locos and placing them on a train. That would leave me with a long 18ft length where I can do some nice gradual curving tracks and simplify the track with less points and junctions to eliminate potential derailment. Or do I continue with this roundy roundy which has plenty of operational interest but some tight and complicated track which incorporates the sidings and visible fiddle yard. Although once a train is on one of the circuits I can just leave it be and operate something else whereas the end to end shelf I would have to be vigilant of two trains running into deadends. This current roundy roundy takes up 1/2 of a double garage whereas a 3ft shelf would open up the garage again and I can store things under the shelf. Much to think about!
  22. Looking good Jack! You could do with some lengthy rakes of wagons behind those locos on them nice curves. What freight trains do you intend to run? Obviously some aggregate trains but any coal, containers, flasks, tanks or anything else in mind go for the mainline?
