  1. Thank you for your kind comments Andy. The 68 is a smart loco and I prefer the modern stuff but I also love the older traction like your 50 and it wouldn't look out of place if I hauled a few coaches as a rail tour.
  2. Probably April on the Tesco express but this is a fictional layout and like I say my son chose the locos and what they were hauling last night so what he says goes as he is the boss! Thanks for dropping in and looking. Much appreciated.
  3. Hello Andy. The fuelling point looks great. I especially like the photos with the class 50 in this area. The barriers you made look smart too.
  4. Good evening everyone. Last night I did a little bit of work on the station area of the layout which is beginning to resemble what I had in this area in the attic before we moved house. Whilst the missus took our daughter to ballet class myself and my son had a bit of a Direct Rail Services themed running session so I took some photos of the station area with the DRS locos in the shot. A Direct Rail Services hauled rail tour calls at the station. Whilst a DRS class 68 thunders through the station.
  5. Hello the ballasting and station look great in your photographs.
  6. Good evening everyone. Just a little update on a little bit of progress. I have now built my low relief terraced houses to fit into the area in the photograph below. I have had to modify the terraced house at the end of the row to fit around the corner! For a while now I have had a packet of tree armatures and some fine leaf foliage so I have made two trees as a test using some adhesive spray to stick the leaves to the armatures. Not the best photos. They will need the bases disguising when I decide where they should go.
  7. Great modern image layout. The vegetation is really good and I like how you have disguised the back scene with those big trees.
  8. I saw my first ever Deltic working a train on a mainline yesterday 55009 on a Pathfinder rail tour from York to Liverpool Lime Street. This photo below was taken at Euxton in Lancashire. This photo below was taken at Bryn station in Wigan.
  9. The bus depot is amazing and your photographs of the locos are top notch. Such great detail. Well done.
  10. Trees are looking great. I love the attention to detail that you deliver with every centimetre of the layout.
  11. Some fantastic progress there over the Christmas holidays. Looks like the Orange Army have done a great job.
  12. Hello everyone. Here is a bit of an update on the layout. For Christmas I got some Metcalfe low relief terraced houses that I have started to make, just need to add extra details like chimneys, porches and bay windows. They are for this area in the photo below. I also got some security fencing so I have installed this around the Freightliner depot. I have also glued some health and safety signage to the fence. The gates also open. Below is a few photos of a DRS 37 passing by. I have also finally made my Metcalfe farm house and I have a rough idea where the farm house and barn will be placed so I have formed the contours of the land dropping down from the farm yard to the field with plaster cloth. Here is a photo of a Virgin Pendolino passing by this area below. Here is a photo showing the approximate positions of the buildings. Ignore the green frog tape and the blue paint! This photo below is of the town center retaining wall and a DRS class 37 exiting the tunnel portal. I quite like the church towering over the top of the tunnel portal. Thanks for looking everyone. Much appreciated!
  13. Thanks for the comment. I am dubious about putting the advertising hoardings on the wall too. Shall I use them on the station platforms or bin them?
  14. Hello and thanks for your kind comment. They are just the low relief town kits available from Metcalfe. I think they may do 4 different ones.
  15. The industrial shunter and loadhaul 60 are pretty special. Photos are top notch.
  16. Good evening everyone. I have done a little more work on the town center and retaining wall. There is a small green park area where the shoppers can relax. I will get some benches for this area at some point. Made some advertising hoardings that I will probably stick to the town center retaining wall although Network Rail will probably have to organise a possession for the hoarding adverts to be changed! Here is the class 60 entering Springfield Yard with a rake of loaded ballast wagons. If you look at the back of the Freightliner depot I have made some solar panels like Freightliners Crewe Basford Hall depot has. I have started to apply some concrete texture to the depot area. I have also started to fence off the area from the two track mainline with some security fencing.
  17. That is a great bridge. Very cleverly done. It will make a great scene when done.
  18. Hello. I have done a little more scenery work. Here is a photo of the signal box at Springfield Junction. I have added a bit of greenery and some security fencing to segregate the signal box from the very low relief industrial units I have made that are behind the signal box. I have also added a bit more greenery around the Tarmac aggregate site at Springfield which boasts two sidings with two rakes of wagons occupying them. I have also added some more detailing to the new Freightliner depot I have made and I have started to concrete the depot yard which I need to take some photos of. I have some more security fencing to put fence off the depot and yard from the two track main line.
  19. Trees look good. What do you use to stick the foliage to the branches as I am thinking of of pva for mine?
  20. Looks promising Jack. Can't wait to see some more scenic action.
  21. Good evening everyone. I have already made a TMD which I hope has some sort of likeness to Springs Branch in Wigan but I am in the process of making a new TMD which is a mix of ideas from Leeds Midland Road and the new TMD at Crewe Basford Hall. I still need to make the roof and print off some signage for the new TMD. I am not sure which design to go with so if anyone is reading this please let me know which TMD you prefer the look of. Springs Branch type TMD New TMD Springs Branch type TMD New TMD Springs Branch type TMD New TMD Also I have done a bit more work on the bridge crossing the river by adding two extra strips of wood for the girder pieces to glue to. I will probably try to spray this a lighter grey now it is put together. I need to get some farm buildings and see where they can fit before completing the scenery seen in this photo. Also realistic water can wait until next spring as I am worried it will never dry if I do it this time of year! I am putting some pavement down for the town center low relief shops to sit on. I am not having any road here as this part of the town center is pedestrianised.
  22. I have bought some more Metcalfe red brick so I was able to finish the tunnel in which the freight only lines pass through. Still looks bare but I am happy with how this corner of the layout is developing. I have also done some more work on the bridge over the river but was not happy with the photographs I took on my mobile phone so I will grab some proper camera photos again when I get chance.
  23. Hello Jack. Will you be using any form of underlay or ballasting with the track pinned directly to the board when that time comes?
