  1. Sounds intriguing. Would love to see a picture when it arrives. Ian
  2. Glad this iconic line is coming back to life. Sadly life has a way of derailing plans and getting in the way of playing trains for many of us. Ian
  3. It's looking good. Just need a good summer now so you can enjoy it. Ian
  4. Mike, I was making (not very well) a general comment and not aimed at any particular scale or gauge. Yes you are correct that it certainly applies to OO, but not necessarily to 16mm. Ian
  5. I think generally people these days, regardless of scale buy ready to run stuff for all sorts of reasons rather than build. Its getting harder to buy kits or small parts to detail thing as the manufacturers make better and better models which in turn forces the supporting trade out of business. Ian
  6. Nice to see the railway as it was and good to see you;re still out there and haven't yet given up on the line. Warrior looks good in it's 'cleaned' condition. Very much like a working engine, Which it is. Ian
  7. Superb, Possibly the best looking 16mm scale live steam loco I've seen. Ian
  8. I'll contact you about the West Lancs. It's on Robs 16mm diary list so a chance for some of your stuff to run on a layout and when you're not running, to take a trip on the line. Ian
  9. Sunday was a pleasure. I'm sure you'll have lots of idea's now for your railways. Flying Scotsman will be on display at Bury over the Easter weekend. Tornado and another, as yet unknown, loco will be running on the service trains. I can't wait to see progress on the garden line and the paste table railway. I'm certain I won't be waiting long! My own locomotive is being woken from it's slumbers and should be back in running condition by the weekend. It might be visiting one or two lines next month if all is well. Ian
  10. Good to see the progress on the railway. Take it easy and enjoy it. Ian
  11. I learnt my weathering from a book called "The Art of Weathering" by Martin Welch, and my airbrushing from "Painting and Lining in Smaller Scales" by Steve Barnfield, followed by much practising and adapting to suit my needs. I've just purchased "Airbrushing for Railway Modellers" by George Dent to bring me up to date with the more recent developments in paint and airbrushing. I continue to learn, pick up tips and be inspired from the sklilled modellers on this and other forums. Ian
  12. I've only just seen and read this thread. I am fortunate in having seen, in the flesh so to speak, Owd Bob's work first hand when I visited his garden railway. He is an inspiration and a craftsman with an eye for detail. Cracking stuff as usual from a very modest modeller. Ian
  13. Steve is certainly worth a try. He's just produced some transfers for a one-off ex GWR coach converted to a bridge department mess and sleeping coach. Probably about as specialised as you can get! If there's a demand for your decals he'll probably do them for you. He works on his own so can't always produce things quickly. However his transfers are, IMHO, the best on the market. Prices are reasonable too.
  14. Whilst I prefer an etched grill, I might be interested in the headlight cluster. I will be purchasing some of the other detailing parts in due course. When I get round to detailing my 90, which is one of the older models.
  15. If I recall correctly Butanol is sold as Plastic Weld. However it is only available in the UK. Regards, Ian
  16. Thanks for the information. Never thought of checking Howes. The website does say post 1990. I appreciate the help. Ian
  17. Hello RMWebbers, Please can anyone advise me if the Railmatch Enamel Warning Yellow 210 matches the pre or post 1985 shade? Many thanks, Ian
  18. 2239 is almost ready appear at Ellesmere. It won't be ready for the Alsager Exhibition there's still too much to be done. I need another couple of weeks to get it finished. Although its mainly detailing and finishing off the painting. It needs weight adding as it has a new Comet chassis which is very light, and couplings before I can call it ready. It might have a test run depending on progress. It will be ready for the Liverpool exhibition. Ian C
  19. AFAIK there are four MSC Hudswell Clarke loco's preserved. The KWVR and ELR have short tank versions and the Middleton Railway and Avon Valley Railway have long tank versions. Ian C
  20. I'm not at the ELR on 10th. Shame as it would be great to meet up with you. PM sent. Ian
  21. Have you built a new engine shed? I hope my Lady Anne fits. Lol. Lovely pics. I won't recognise the railway nest time I visit. Onwards and Upwards. I won't get to Leigh show this weekend ELR and football Saturday and Southport on Sunday. Enjoy the show. Ian
  22. Bob, Sorry to hear your health issues are forcing a re-think of your railway. Having seen the previous two versions I have no doubt that the revisions will turn out to be a further improvement to the best railway I've seen. I hope your health improves very soon. Ian
  23. Superb, but I still can't bring myself to weather my Lady Anne. Iab
  24. Genius. Yes he is. I've seen Bob's work. He's incredibly talented and has the best garden railway I've seen. Ian
