  1. Do you think I can get away with buying a Radial now, and then the train pack later ?
  2. Thats look really good.
  3. Do we know when the pack with the coaches is likely to be here?
  4. Have we got a delivery date for these yet? Cant wait!
  5. It was stated at the initial announcement that it was possible that the trains would be lengthened if demand needed it, but it probably wouldnt take place straight away. The franchise is a 7+3 one, and I wouldnt be surprised if the additional coach was included as part of the extension.
  6. Do you mean Bredon? It appeared in the September 81 and July 85 issues of RM.
  7. An excellent model! I hope it does well. The only thing is surely we will now need someone (Bachmann?) to produce a 4-REP.
  8. Surely if you need a 170 for your layout, you need to get one? It depends on the part fo the country you are modelling, but in some, 170s are so ubiqetous that to have a layout without one will not "feel" right.
  9. The current blocade at Queen Street also includes work to lengthen all the platforms (bar one, I believe), so there should be no problems for either 8-car Edinburgh or 2+6 HSTs.
  10. Tony, the OP gave the board dimensions in cm - and 97cm is actually just over 38 inches. Might not sound like a big difference, but an extra inch is very important with these small schemes.
  11. Quite agree. All we have see is some low-res pictures of what is presumably an early prototype. How anyone can complain about the location of rivets (literally!) from that just shows how much regard should be given to his remarks. I'll wait until we can see something in closer detail.
  12. Worse than that! It originally appeared in the September 1981 issue!
  13. Are you thinking of Bredon? It was exhibited at Pecroama for a number of years.

    Top Gear?

I would argue that Clarkson is just as much a Marmite person as Evans. Perhaps even more so - at least Chris Evans doesnt go out of his way to be gratuitously offensive.
  15. If you are considering Bervie - there is an excellent book covering the branch in quite some detail. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Montrose-Bervie-Railway-South-East-Kincardineshire/dp/1899889965/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463643052&sr=8-1&keywords=montrose+and+bervie
  16. The Bulleid diesels had different power arrangements as EE managed to increase output as they were developed. The eventual Class 40 took elements of both the SR and LMS prototypes. Whether any production diesels would have used the EE nose, or retained the flat front is debateable. I would imagine a lower power diesel, say Bo-Bo 1200hp would have been used - perhaps in multiple from Waterloo, with each then taking a portion to North Devon/North Cornwall?
  17. I'm sure a certain Captain would have diverted them for use on the S&D...
  18. Really good news about 'Mammoth' - what we really need are some containers in that early Freightliner livery of grey with a red stripe. Suggestions anyone?
  19. Thanks Dave - you had me worried for a bit there!
  20. I thought Jeremy was a shareholder in Hornby? Certainly read a few years ago that he owned 10%.
  21. That looks like the old Class 29 from Hornby, circa 1979.
  22. I think the point is that this outcome was predicted when he was appointed, by looking at what had happened at Ladbrookes.
  23. Share price is now 38.5p - lower than any time since 2001. If anyone has some investment money free, this probably looks a good buy at that price.
  24. I think a major concern would be the write-off of £1million of stock as a result of the stock take. When was the last one done? They ought to be annually at least. The increase in sales just before christmas is good news, yet the big drop in January seems to have affected them badly. Were suppliers bringing forward sales?
