  1. I would prefer to wait for them to retool the earlier mk3s to the standard of the later ones - matching TGS, variety of restaurant cars with correct vents applied etc. Was not expecting them this year but hopefully in future.
  2. You are not the only one. I would be in the market for several rakes of blue/grey and executuve HST mk3s done to a modern standard.
  3. I am curious as to whom this remark is aimed at. Only wagons in the Hornby Railroad range would appear to be less than stellar than what we have seen so far of this wagon. Even that is debatable. Hopefully the next version proves me wrong.
  4. Dublin to Dún Laoghaire was arguably the first commuter line in the world. It was actually originally built to standard gauge as far as I know. It was latter re-gauged to the Irish 5' 3". On its 150th anniversary in 1984, the electrification of the line was completed and the all commuter services since then have been electric. There was also an earlier railway, if you can call it that, as it had no locomotives, that ran from Dalkey quarry to Dún Laoghaire for the construction of the harbour. Horses were used to bring the empties back up but the wagons ran down by gravity. The "atmospheric railway" as mentioned was an extension of the line from Dún Laoghaire (Kingstown) to Dalkey and used the vacuum method to propel trains. Some of the route of the quarry line was used.
  5. Yes, its a bit much to expect Charlie to commit to something when there is so much uncertainty at the moment, for many reasons.
  6. I ordered some for my PTAs and PFAs. They do look good. The steel coils will also prove useful.
  7. From a Rails email just now: 35-201Z 'Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' No.4843 LNER Lined Green (Doncaster) Class V2 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive £229.95 (DCC Ready) 35-201ZSF £329.95 (DCC Sound Fitted) No.60964 ‘Durham Light Infantry’ BR green livery (late crest) This locomotive was built at Darlington in January 1943. It was named in April 1958 and was withdrawn from service in May 1965. The name was transferred to Deltic Class locomotive (later Class 55) Co-Co diesel No. D9017 on 29th October 1963 during a ceremony at Durham station. 35-203Z 'Durham Light Infantry' No.60964 BR Lined Green (Late Crest) Class V2 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive No.60964 (DCC Ready) £229.95 (DCC Ready) 35-203ZSF £329.95 (DCC Sound Fitted)
  8. Start crying. At least you get to keep your kidney
  9. It would nearly impossible to do the big recesses in the sides. To do so you would have to take the wagon apart. At that point you might as well buy the kit. Coming after GT3 which looks like a really good model these do not look too good even if they are early samples. The crudeness of the interior just adds to the general clunkyness of the sample. Accurascale, Cavalex and RevolutioN produce wagons way better than this. Copying Accurascale, Cavalex HAAs and RevolutioN in having separate running numbers for each wagon is the only positive I can see.
  10. My preference is for photographic back scenes. You can then blend it in with trees as you have planned. Looking good.
  11. Really excellent publication. Got it in Easons in Dublin,
  12. I think the easiest thing is to use Flickr and find the actual loco you want. There is variation in size between the numbers available from the major transfer producers. The 50 numbers were are generally in the same place but there were very subtle variations. Photos of the loco you are modelling in the period you are modelling and from both sides in the only way to be sure. After that you just need the Fox or Railtec transfers. I have done Agincourt myself some time ago. I definitely found photos at the time and I am pretty sure it was on Flickr.
  13. Very true. Often only 1 third full was the maximum load depending on the quality of the ore.
  14. Sounds good. Its almost as if you want to us increase our orders.
  15. Mick I would have to say that ordering more might be the best way.
  16. Good luck with buying the hardware for £20.
  17. They do look nice. I was wondering in later years and in a different livery would any of these be suitable to run behind the post war expresses pulled by the pioneer diesels 10000 and 10001?
  18. Yes the printing looks very good. My first Yeoman ones should be with me this week too. Very impressed with my BSC ones and more to come
  19. I have will have a full Llanwern to Port Talbot rake when all my deliveries arrive. It will be a mix of older and newer liveries. Now the small matter of building a layout big enough to accommodate it so that it is not chasing its trail around the room That may take some time. I should add that it has always been an ambition of mine to model this train and I am very grateful to Accurascale for making it possible. A decent PTA was always on my wishlist and not just for BSC but for the Mendip stone trains too. I remember making the case to Hornby years ago for the PTA as they had the ex Lima version in their range. The speed these have sold at just shows that Accurascale have another winner on their hands.
  20. My first batch have arrived and they are well worth the wait. There is even a separate battery included.
  21. I would say 36 is as good a number as any. There is no hard and fixed rule.
  22. 72XX range. My most recent is in the 118xx range and there are several in between.
  23. I have several different orders for PTAs placed since they were first announced. I just got a notification that my oldest order is on its way
