  1. its shrunk whats happened to the big one? this looks nice aswel Mike
  2. yeah its quite clear, cinefilmed from Mollington station I think, heading away from Birkenhead, and the air pumps are clearly visible. think it was during the last days of steam on the wirral in 67. Mike
  3. Im interested to know about 92065's last days, Ive seen footage of it being towed in a convey of locos on the Wirral, wonder if it ever worked one of the Bidston- Shotton iron trains? Mike
  4. im sure its mentioned in shedside on merseyside book, havent got mine to hand at the moment it may have been mentioned I think in an issue of steam world or backtrack... Mike
  5. I have read or someone has told me about this in the past, I just cant remember at the moment. I think its mentioned in one of the books Ive got, will have a flick through Mike
  6. cheers Mike and Arp. its more of a passing interest really, I wont be building locos or a layout. really do love Blackgill by the way. but I will certainly get a few books and dvds, could you pick out a favourite from those dvds listed? one that has a lot of 9fs on the iron trains? best quality footage etc. Mike
  7. Lovely shots Ernie! thanks must have been fasicnating, does anyone know any good dvds with footage of the 9fs? I wasnt aware class 40s were used as bankers, any more shots or info on that? cheers guys Mike
  8. and to start us off, some shots of 9f 92063, fotopic has other shots of the other locos, but theyres some gems here, http://community.fotopic.net/search/simple.php?txt=92063&tab=P Mike
  9. as Jeremy Clarkson would say, "Ill get a hammer" interested to see how you get on,work on my Steve Beattie Co-Bo has stalled until I can sort out some better castings for various bits, and also get round to taking some photos of the real thing. but the main shell isnt too bad, in the end it went together Mike
  10. My love of the 9f has drawn me to look at this particular stretch of railway, after learning all I think Ill ever need to know on theyre other famous workings, such as on the S&D and ore trains on the Wirral. now I dont know the area at all. and Ive previously steered clear of looking into it as I usually try and learn more about lines closer to home first. from books and the internet it seems that theyres very little left now. theyre seems a lot more info on the 9fs and previous locos on the Tyne dock- Consett ore working, one good book with plenty of shots is a detailed history of the 9fs rcts. and also past n present no 4. (page 21 has a nice shot Id like to identify) Ive been trying to follow the route of google earth and google street view, its possible to follow it, but sadly its gone apart from road bridges etc. heres a newsclip of the last train to Consett http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toO7fWpYGJ4 I thought it be nice if people could share recollections, pics, info etc of the railway, how it was, how it is now, the locos that worked it etc etc I was going to put this in questions, but theres not really a question I want to ask about it as such, just general chat really. cheers Mike
  11. Im still working on my o gauge build, hopefully this announcement will bring about interest, and therefore more prototype info (ive struggled for decent roof shots) and projects such as sound chips Mike
  12. watched 60010 in Liverpool docks yesterday evening (friday 14th, approx 9pm) a 66 was also in there shunting the scrap wagons Mike
  13. the 27 in bits makes me want to do another kit, the quality as you open the box is superb. had my 40 running on Mike Williams DCC rollers on the Gauge O guild stand at the Liverpool show last weekend. and has made me want to do another jltrt kit one day. Love the army vehicles too! Mike
  14. thanks for posting the photos Larry, those where the ones I meant. cheers Mike
  15. Someone on the old rmweb a while back posted quite a few shots of the Dinting derailment. Mike
  16. sorry I was talking more about the surrounding area and landscape, the long overgrown grass etc, just has a certain feel that I cant quite explain. Mike
  17. whats clever about this shot is the fact its side on, most of the shots on here are on an angle 3/4 view which are harder to focus and light and make more realistic. and also track gauge. I think we should see more side on shots please chaps, should give some good results. Mike
  18. hey Stu, I love your shot of one passing over the cemetery gate bridge in Anfield Liverpool. http://stuarts-phots.fotopic.net/p64228572.html Mike
  19. and the overall surroundings, the hills, but the long overgrown grass everywhere. seen quite a few layouts based on, but dont think anyones really tried to capture the overgown rundown atmosphere of the line Mike
  20. good to see a train on the branch to seaforth container terminal, is that a new/regular working? Mike
  21. ive always wondered what the circular hole in one of the doors was for. does anyone know? cheers Mike
  22. woodhead shots, especially in the last days, always seem quite eeary. I cant put my finger on it, but they always have a certain atmosphere. great shots, but very sad Mike
