  1. There was story knocking around in the 70s that they set the problem of mass freight transportation to a University somewhere in the UK and they first decided that they should use containers, followed by putting them on trailers, then coupling several together so they only needed one driver and finally making a special road which only they could use... And re-invented the railway...
  2. So he's never won a race before entering F1? That must make him virtually unique!

Well they have shown us what to do if there's no toilet paper... 🤢🤣
  4. I've mentioned it before that several people have done RC in small 006.5 locos so TT's size (whichever version!) shouldn't be an issue.
  5. The only flaw in that is that he's already been in that position before so it's nothing new to him and I believe he's "driven" enough to overcome it... In fact that's why he moved to Mercedes in the first place, the promise of better things... Probably the same here as he's already said he wants to continue driving into his 40s!
  6. I'd go slightly different. TT for me its the ideal scale as i can run Continental and British alongside each other and they will be correct. As I've travelled extensively over the Channel I know how big they are and to have them the same size if I mixed 100 and 120 it would just look wrong! Size wise it's ideal, enough bigger than N and smaller than 00. TT3 would be OK but for what i said earlier, and the gauge discrepancy.
  7. 🤣 Perhaps I should have taken more notice of the original comment! 😉
  8. It does work, I watched it on iPlayer yesterday, though I wasn't as impressed with it as you two, perhaps your hype had over-hyped it!
  9. The link is 5 posts earlier! Just nice to see a manufacturer being open and honest!
  10. Some people are like that, I'm sure I'd be the same, it makes it worse when you are in front of a camera and can't move around as much as if you were standing in front of a class!
  11. Hornby in interview with Peachy and MacTrains about the range, the issues, plans for the future and lots of background. Very interesting and explains why we can't have everything tomorrow!
  12. Only the order manufacturers seem to produce stuff. I feel they would know better than people like you or I what would sell fastest and best. Though reading posts on forums and FB I have learned that plenty of people feel they know better...
  13. To start with they'll produce stuff that sells well to establish a new scale in the UK. Bearing in mind that the Southern is probably the fourth most popular of the Big Four and even modern stuff is more popular it's unlikely for several years. Though we could see a Southern express loco in 5/10 years. It's not an embargo, simply common sense when looking at potential sales.
  14. Probably, I'd not heard of it before, just wondered if anyone knew any more?
  15. Has this been mentioned before? https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/electric-vehicles-battery-range-anxiety-b2527547.html?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0vMj2rjCPZwmLK9td0njGalYf52NOoabgmAJA1kn9NeAUYyu4s8vIPH5o_aem_AS3OYIg8wAaAn5_OQjvgB44NzdMTNvE3OYrE5FHfxE4updG7KByV_fYtagTejtQsD9c9f5R4lbF-k7XUxW8-7Pzy
  16. Red'll kill you, green is clean! ;)
  17. Toyota Corolla Sports Tourer hybrid is now sitting on our drive!
  18. I don't think it was me that said it was photoshopped? Though Hornby have been known to do so, previous "photos" of TT120 locos are known to have been 00 locos with TT couplers added! As I've said their checking/proof reading of these sorts of things seems to be somewhat lacking. Regarding the legislation I am pretty sure they'd argue that they are pre-production images and therefore could vary from the final model, I suspect there will be something in their T&Cs/fine print to cover themselves. All I was saying is that you seemed to have got yourself a bit wound up when a simple question would have clarified things, answered by those of us who had watched the video, and like you, noticed the lack of front coupler and asked the question of them. But no harm done!
  19. I'm not so sure, but having said that it's been a common theme since they launched TT:120. There have been other "schoolboy errors" of varying magnitude over the past couple of years, many of which, like this one, could have been nipped in the bud by having someone on their staff who knows the subject and can proof-read/check their stuff before publication (written/verbal/video). Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case so we will continue to see stuff come out where most of us will just give a quiet "groan" and (again) ask them to clarify, like in this case. It's just a reflection of the people they employ, who, whilst they may be fine at checking every detail is correct down to the last rivet, don't seem to be actual model railway enthusiasts , especially those in marketing and who do the publicity. Frustrating, yes, end of the world, no!
  20. Bit heavy on the bold/italics, why not just ask us first if they will have them?! It was one of the first questions on the Q&A session later in the day and, as Johan has said they will have front couplers.
  21. If you go on the Hornby website it gives you the radii. R1 is 267mm so yes it will fit on a 24" (608mm) wide board. Be aware, though, that only the 08 of the current locos is ok'd by Hornby to run on it, the rest are R2 and above.
  22. I've just come back from counting the rivets on my solar panels, have I missed anything? 😂
  23. The 8f I think has 9.5mm diameter wheels.
  24. Oh dear, how sad. All that money spent, not much difference, and so little won. As for the most hated, only by people like you, others appreciate what we've done and the style of football we play. For the "charges", remember that's all they are. Innocent until proven guilty seems to be lost on people like you. Funny, isn't it, that it was fine by United and Liverpool fans when they dominated but now that domination is challenged they cry foul.
  25. Both of mine go round R2 without any issues, Les. Send yours back?
