Perhaps not as obscure but yes I'd agree with you... Though it does make me think that their involvement was only half-hearted and they hadn't done all that much development as if they'd done a lot they'd have switched prototypes to, say, a class 24 or 5...

Bit early to say things with such conviction, they've only just launched... Or do you want the whole lot in one go?! :)

Or someone who's enthusiastic but not that good in front of the camera, he came across like that in the Hornby TV series as well. Personally I prefer it as you will have gathered in my reply above, it marks out someone who's keen on their subject but also human, unlike Apple presentations...

Mmmm... Best known real steam trains in the UK to non railway and railway enthusiasts: Flying Scotsman and Mallard, an A3 and A4... Two sets in launch, one has an A3 and one and A4, ok not same names but most non enthusiasts wouldn't notice... If you look at the blurb the playtrain locos are coming later, I'm sure one was called Polly as well!

There's several east European manufacturers of TT locos and stock as well, I think they are mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread or another! Re Contikits, they have a habit of not listing all of their stock for the less well known scales/gauges (such as H0e) so as currently TT falls into that category I'd suggest a phone call as well as looking at their online list. Hi Haymarket, I can't really add to what Nimbus said, when I've needed any stuff I've bought it on my travels over in Eastern Europe.

There was, and Peco and Kato. I suppose in both cases they weren't treading on each others toes as Peco don't really do locos.

Must be using different marketing people to you, then... But then again it's nowhere near as clear cut as SS says, although adverts will be for the general public they know that the grapevine in the model railway fraternity will generate all the publicity they need, and more, as evidenced by the threads on here, other MR forums, FB groups and even some NG forums.

Snowy hasn't been her usual self recently, not eating too much and drinking water so a trip to the vets today. Didn't like the method of taking her temperature (I doubt many of us would enjoy a thermometer up our bums!) and needed a blood sample. seems she was having none of that either, every time they got the needle in she twisted and got it out! So I have two tablets, one for tonight and one for tomorrow which I have to give her so she can be sedated enough to take a sample... Here's wishing me luck, I've got the tuna to mix it with, fingers crossed... Vet recons either diabetes or kidneys on the way out, she'll be 16 next month so a good run. Trouble is we have no insurance as the last lot withdrew her insurance because of her age.

I, for one, would be quite happy if the stock was detailed to Railroad standard. That's the amount of detail I require, I don't need or want full fat thanks. I suspect the majority of modellers would actually agree, outside this forum and finescale forums the vast majority of comments concern the level of detail and complaining that it's too easy to break it. I wouldn't want a return to moulded handrails but I don't see less fiddly detail putting off the majority of buyers. @britishcolumbian I'm a member of a Hungarian FB H0e group!!

Having looked at it there are some valid points in there, I don't feel it's right to knock the whole thing. Loss of tax revenue without saying how they intend to get it back is a major point just for starters.

Can't remember (m)any "early" heritage railways (60s or early 70s) with that set-up, most had some sort of steam loco, usually a tank or small tender engine? Perhaps when the later loco phases have come out, which include smaller steam locos we may see something along those lines, though. Also i suspect a basic goods set like Triang used to do - I see "Polly" is already mentioned somewhere (lost the place just now!)...

I feel you over-estimate the forum's influence, especially in this scenario. As Paul rightly says we are not the target for sales of TT, though I'm sure they will welcome any sales that they do make to forum members! I'd never have guessed(!), so if no interest why all the negativity, why not just leave it alone rather than keep repeating the same old stuff over and over (and before I get accused of doing just that I'd suggest that people look in their mirror before saying it). At least I'm interested in TT, have modelled in the scale and have made a purchase. Whatever I feel about Hornby I still feel that it's important to support them in their efforts to kick start a new scale, not just knock it. I do agree that sales is likely to be around N scale size, but that's no bad thing and would certainly be sufficient to keep Hornby going.

Perhaps Hornby are just taking on the risk on a new scale where no-one is sure how it will pan out. I doubt retailers would be too keen on spending lots of cash only to have the stock sitting doing nothing. As someone said many pages ago they could be doing the retailers a favour... Who knows! How many times this phrase has been repeated over this (and other TT) threads! Yet, even though RMWeb is but a small number of railway modellers, quite a few of us have already put in orders and, as some people have pointed out we aren't even the main market Hornby are aiming at... I suspect that Hornby's marketing experts have a far better idea than us what they are expecting and are better placed to see the whole picture than a limited number of people on a model railway forum.

Shame the same can't be said for some people on here! If any investors have read some people's posts they'd be running for the hills by now... There are lots of "what ifs" and scenarios about what might happen but I find it sad that a large number of posts are damning the launch without any concrete evidence about what will happen. as someone else said we don't have a time machine so we simply don't know. It would be nice to get back to the models rather than continual speculation and knocking of Hornby, they should be applauded for having a go in a new market, not knocked down for it.

So you will... At exhibitions! Perhaps not the best idea for you but you will also see it running in real life, something the majority of model shops can't do. I agree with that, my local shop is one such, but having said that although he does some box shifting that doesn't appear to be his main business, so i doubt a lack of TT sales will be a major worry, especially as he does s/h where some will come in eventually. Ooo! Triang CKD!! :) I don't follow this, many companies nowadays have a "click and collect" option where you can collect it from a local shop, usually the local corner shop, I use this option regularly and so don't have the issues you have.

I know that I had to try several ways to get it up, at the outset I had the same issue. I found that going via the menu in the top right corner and not the obvious "community" section in the main section got me there.

I thanked both you and the other poster using the thanks emoji or whatever it is. As that's what they are for I didn't see any need to comment further, I asked a question and it was answered and I thanked them.

On the other hand as that "family" will have already bought their set online and probably haven't a clue where their local model shop is, if there is one(!), the chances are the only traipsing they'll do is back onto the Hornby website and order it there.
