  1. ‘Ordinary passenger’ paths now on RTT for tommorow until Friday. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O09931/2018/06/18/advanced
  2. I'm not sure, if it was it would be a very good one. But it carried passengers (and I assume took Northern tickets?). Nice little video here https://twitter.com/timfarron/status/1008347458425049088 I still can't work out if this is connected to Northern at all? If not, who's paying for this. WCRC? The line user group? Also quite an interesting line in the tweet. 'We're now in a position where a shuttle service could be running from tomorrow- the ball is firmly in the DfT's court'. Not quite sure what this means. Well done to everyone involved.
  3. How involved is it to add RETB to a unit? They better make sure they have them the right way round, I wouldn’t like to be in the small cab of a 153 all the way from Queen Street to Mallaig
  4. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/WDM/2018/06/17/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=WR WCRC paths tomorrow. Seems to raise more questions than it answers. Are Northern involved? Maybe it’s stock and crew hire (and this is training for such a service)? Maybe it’s just someone’s bright idea at 10A? In which case, is it just run as a charter? This would mean tickets are not bought through any ATOC website (and TOC site, Trainline or National Rail Enquiries). Maybe just a case of buy on the day? I assume WCRC have the necessary infrastructure to provide a rail replacement bus if a train fails? Would they be required to do so if they provide a charter? 2018 on the Railways eh?
  5. Thanks, like this? http://www.norton.co.uk/diecast-models-c20/trucks-trailers-fire-engines-c544/oxford-diecast-1-76-76daf001-daf-85-40ft-box-trailer-royal-mail-p11418 I assume the aero parts (on roof and sides) can be removed and still leave a roof?
  6. From this photo dated 2013, looks like the building around the ground frame is gone. https://flic.kr/p/f42c5o I also quite like the flowers in the foreground
  7. Anyone know what this is and if it’s available in 1:76 anywhere? I am happy to scratchbuild the trailer. As far as I can work out, it’s a DAF (or Leyland?) 95 without the compartment at the back of the driving cab. Can’t seem to find many photos of a 3 axle version. You can probably tell this isn’t my strong point. http://news.images.itv.com/image/file/867186/stream_img.jpg http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45630000/jpg/_45630241_09.01.jpg https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/flask-of-spent-nuclear-fuel-being-loaded-onto-train-near-dungeness-picture-id167066289
  8. Why not outsource stock and crews to DRS (or similar) They could provide a single 37/4 and DBSO set (spare now no longer in use on Cumbrian Coast) to shuttle up and down. Or even the Carnforth based company could run a T&T set with Mk2s (although I’m not sure how qualified they are to provide guards for a usual service?
  9. No more mk3s for TPE https://www.tpexpress.co.uk/media-centre/mark-3-disability-statement The URL seems to suggest something to do with disability regs?
  10. Some blue at Peak Forest. 37716 arriving from Crewe LNWR to join 56113 on shunting duties at Peak Forest. Taken yesterday. 2018 Railways eh? More Blue
  11. A 73/9 climbs up to Corrour on the northbound sleeper More Scottish. Ideally with horrible weather
  12. Okay, I may sacrifice prototypical operation for some more interesting running in that case
  13. Some onboard photos from the Forth Bridge from behind a HST. Somthing else from Scotland
  14. Looking through Flickr, there has been quite a bit of varied traction and wagons down the branch: PFAs with large and small boxes https://flic.kr/p/bGJYPc https://flic.kr/p/FHNe8k T&T 37s on a short test train https://flic.kr/p/e1fc3m A GBRf hauled charter https://flic.kr/p/26TTYTi T&T 73s on a weedkilling train https://flic.kr/p/bx5pAq Caroline behind a ROG 47 https://flic.kr/p/VWDkRd
  15. I don’t really have room for a recreation of the New Romeny branch. There will of course be many more odd Engineering trains, MPV, test trains and Caroline has been down a few times. These can occupy one loop and wait for a Nuclear train to enter, clear the line and leave and vice versa.
  16. I hadn’t thought about that, but now you mention it... My only concern is that the length of the loop is compressed anyway and trains may not fit into the loop with two reverse curves. Time for more sketches methinks
  17. Thanks, I think I’ll stick with 37s and 68s as the primary traction. I can’t find any photos of 66s on the line. Gauging?
  18. I did consider valley, but it has a hard to model (yet interesting) triangle for turning. Do you mind me asking when that was taken? I want to set it the latest possible time that I can run a pair of 37 on flasks.
  19. I’m sure I have been googling about Flask Trains enough to make someone notice, but the trackplan is clearly visible from google maps and if I wanted, I could go down myself. Saying that, I think I have chosen the very point on any UK railway that is geographically furthest away from me.
  20. I wonder why the ground frame is inside the hut? Doesn’t look like you can see much from in there
  21. Making the crane work probably isn’t impossible but if it was operational, the sliding lid on the FNA would have to move open and similar on the lorry. A crane would also struggle to pick up a flask by the two pins on the side. There aren’t many photos about of the actual transfer (probably for good reason) but here are a few. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xy7xg7riulv06d1/37259%20%2B%2037608%20Dungeness%20Railhead.jpeg?dl=0 https://flic.kr/p/9bD4Km
  22. Thanks, The longest train (I think 2x class 66 + 2 FNAs) will be 3ft long. I was thinking of going with cassettes and a 3ft fiddle yard at one end of the end board which will still leave 9ft of room to play with. I can also use the loop for short departmental and test trains that can arrive into the loop and clear the section for the Nuclear train to add some traction variety and operational interest. Is there any form of signalling present for departing the loop or clearing any level crossings along the route?
  23. Honestly the amount of knowledge on here is amazing. Thanks for all the photos, especially permanent way detail. All very helpful. Start of board construction
  24. Thanks, those photos are invaluable. Do you know how the points are operated? I can’t see a groundframe in any photos?
