  1. I wonder what problems team orders will throw up as F1 gets more involved in betting. Liberty have already signed huge betting sponsorship deals and potentially integrate into the TV feed. https://www.gpfans.com/en/articles/2666/f1-betting-liberty-media-strike-huge-deal-to-sell-gambling-sponsorship/ Team orders and especially swapping for the lead is essentially race fixing and becomes a very shady area and opens FOM and teams to very large lawsuits.
  2. A mostly white ex-GWR 153 at Clitheroe More white please
  3. Freightliner’s done it, now it’s Colas’ turn. https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1042433618587656193/9grcdAQk_400x400.jpg Trying to imagine this as a livery
  4. Indeed, stunning lap by Lewis. Once again showing his skill and why he fully deserves this championship.
  5. Looks like Cumbrian Coasts will be fully 37/4s until the end. https://twitter.com/clinnick1/status/1040652009978900482?s=21 Seems DRS are particularly short of 68s, especially now TPE repaints are happening and that limits what can be used on flasks.
  6. The concrete on the last of this photo shows the change from grey to black under the fuel point
  7. Thanks, I lie the idea of making a former to heat a clear plastic sheet over. I'll try that when I get to that stage.
  8. Making slow progress, but I have a question... Does anyone have any idea how to recreate the curved windscreen and other curved clear sections? As far as I am aware, there is no real way to do a 3D print clear enough to really be an option. Clear plasticard will be fine for the door and passenger windows but would not curve in two directions for the cab and drivers side windows. Any suggestions/ideas welcome.
  9. Okay, but I imagine they will start turning into blue and orange 66s and 60s soon as more contracts go to GBRf.
  10. The coaches look great, keep up the good work. Nice crisp paintwork and lovely finish
  11. Thanks guys, really means a lot. I will do more when I get the time
  12. You're right, there would be no V as it is not a van. Interesting that the reason for the (mk3/4) DVT. I believe the trains will consist of 1 x TF (Trailer First), 3 x TS (Trailer Standard) and 1 x DT (Driving Trailer). The TF will also contain the guard/train managers 'office' and the DT contains standard class seating.
  13. More progress on the cab ends. I think I am past the worst of the curved sections, which are the hardest to do on sketchup.
  14. Good luck with the project. This photo isn't the best, but gives a decent idea of the pantograph. There aren't many photos out there of the top of an 88 and this was taken from the top of a castle on a hill about 500m from the line. Also note, there is a difference in the horn grilles either side of the main roof light. The 88 has multi aspect 'fins' and the 68 just has a mech over the horns. 15. Since Dapol's TPE liveried 68 has been announced and no announcement of any mark 5s (yet), I've made a bit more progress on the cab end of the Mark 5 'DT' Big thanks to Jack (Jack374) for the side photo of the cab, very helpful
  16. Baseboard joins now complete with bolts, latches and DCC Concepts dowels. And now fully corked Now ready for some track
  17. Great pics as ever. Out of interest, at Clitheroe cement works are you involved with any of the shunting moving wagons through the loader or are internal shunters used?
  18. The filmmakers originally chose Taw Valley and had her painted. https://www.flickr.com/photos/33245686@N08/3937210715 JK Rowling said it looked ‘too modern’ and had Hall repainted. It has also turned out to be quite a good money generator for West Coast Railways, both through the huge popularity of Jacobite Trains and through leasing Oulton Hall to Warner Bros (for what I imagine is a fair amount of money yearly) Re Kings Cross: Rowling has also said she was thinking of Euston when she wrote the book and the idea of a train to Hogwarts first came from a Caledonian Sleeper to Edinburgh.
  19. A ScotRail 170 heading towards Aberdeen at Montrose. Anything else on rails will do
  20. I have mentioned in the thread, I reckon they do have a few major components in common, although that is pure speculation.
  21. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/130381-caf-mark-5-coach-in-4mm-scratchbuild/ I am partway through doing CADs for Mk5 bodyshells to be 3D printed. As you can imagine, the cab end of the DT is proving the hardest. Since Dapol have announced their TPE liveried 68 and the real things have done test runs, I should really get on with it. Especially now I have more photos the CADs should be easier. TPE stuff on page 2
  22. Remind me never to buy lead-free solder again.

Its still reasonably easy to get hold of the real stuff, but environmentally friendly "solder" is the work of the devil!

Lanarkshire Models has just packaged some very nice 145 C solder wire.

Not on the website yet but have been using it and found it lovely to work with, and yes it does have a wee bit lead in it...

So you’ve found that out then! I bought some a few years ago and a few weeks later I’d bought some lead-based stuff too. Some stalls at shows sell it, have a look round when you’re at one.

  23. The extra diesel needed to take 45699 and support coach back to Carnforth complicates things a bit, it usually wouldn’t need one. Dalesman tours are traditionally quite large trains as there is no acsent of Shap involved and is usually the 8F (48151) and more recently 35018 ‘British India Line’ which would negate the need for diesel assistance. As Galatea (only class 6 power) was heading the tour, a ‘tail gunner’ is needed which further complicates shunting at Hellifield.
