  3. I find it surprising that the the Prime Minister would want the ship to be compliant with stuff from Brussels. Or has she changed her mind?
  4. Barnaby, You mean she isn't? lol That Signa-Track unit is looking good! Dave
  5. My wife has always been supportive of my hobby and oftentimes goes to model train shows with me - we usually make quite the fun trip out of it. Well, I've always said that I'm much smarter than my wife and I can prove it. I married her and she's stuck with me.
  6. This site may help. http://extra.southernelectric.org.uk/modelling/articles/modpeco3rdrail.html
  7. I was at the Amherst show yesterday and as always had a great time! I did find the Roomettes stand and met Barry Silverthorn, the proprietor - a complete gentleman. The display models were simply stunning and i ended up buying two of his kits. "The Bookworm" a book store made to fit the DPM 1st National Bank kit and "Banfield Street #3" made to fit the DPM Townhouse #3 kit. Both look great - the printing is first rate and the LED lighting units (which appear to be the Woodland Scenics units) are included. Unfortunately I don't have the needed DPM kits on hand, but ordered them this morning. Hope to post more!
  8. Barnaby, If you do go the Sig-na Track route I would love to read your thoughts on the system. I ran across its website a couple of years ago and have to say it is intriguing. Even though I am firmly with MRC (Gaugemaster) Prodigy Express/Advance, I always enjoy hearing about other systems should I decide to "expand my horizons" (yes, I'm an HO guy . . . . . well, let's play a bit with OO, ok, I'm a HO and OO guy ONLY. . . .wait a minute this 7mm British O looks interesting . . you get the picture).

  10. Corgis rock! Ours passed a few years ago and the house hasn't been the same since.
  11. The postings on this thread, I think, speak volumes on the type of business Mr. Horn runs. One generally does not get this level of support unless one is totally above board (pun intended). Good on you Tim and if I lived on your side on the Atlantic I would surely look at doing business with you.
  12. I'm planning to be at the Amherst show, so I"ll keep my eyes open for them. Thanks!
  13. Sorry to hear of the challenges, but super glad to see that you have overcome them and are back up. Dave
  14. Those recessed butterfly catches do look interesting. While perhaps more work, they do, I think, have a certain visual appeal. I might need to get a few to see how they work.

  16. Okay guys. After hemming and hawing for several weeks, I broke down and ordered a Hornby Southern 700. Yeah, I'm pretty excited.
  17. I've been buying retail for over 40 years. In my experience, if there is something that I want and it is on sale - if I don't buy it, the price will go up If I do buy it, the price will go down. My mom used to tell me . . . if an item has a price that you feel is worth paying then buy it. And don't look at the price again for about a year. Smart woman was my mom.
  18. Not sure which I am more impressed by. Your daughter wanting to get you something special or the counter staff person's quick thinking. Both? Merry Christmas!!!
  19. Luckily there's a guy at work from the UK who fills me in on all of these.
