  1. Pictures up on Rails' website: https://railsofsheffield.com/br-black-class-8f-2-8-0-steam-locomotive-48045-with-fowler-tender-JJJA32455 and https://railsofsheffield.com/lms-black-class-8f-2-8-0-steam-locomotive-8035--JJJA32456 They do look very nice....
  2. Possibly been posted before, but most certainly a bargain: http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/43642/R3331-WSL-Hornby-King-Class-Steam-Locomotive-number-6011. Hornby King at £69.99.
  3. There aren't many classes which haven't been produced since Sanda Kan, the only others I can think of is the GWR tender 2-8-0s and the Rebuilt Patriot.
  4. I've just received the email from Hornby saying that these have now arrived and are in stock! Has anyone bought one and can you give us a better idea of exactly what improvements have taken place to both the engine and tender? Thanks
  5. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll wait and see what the Fowler tender is like before I make a decision to buy it. I started modelling after the last one of these was brought out, and so I was hoping it might be like the BR 4mt (a super model, but not been produced recently). As I now understand it is from a bit further back in Hornby's history, I might wait until there is a bit more information about it, as whilst it sounds like it could do with a newer super detail version, I can see it is probably a very long way away!

I am considering pre-ordering R3564, and I was wondering if anyone would be able to fill me in on the history of this model? I know Hornby haven't produced it recently, but I mainly wanted to know if all the tooling dates from the super detail time or if some of the tooling dates back further (like the 4f and 2p)? Also, if anyone has one of the later ones from about 2010/11, what they thought of the model, positives and negatives? Many thanks in advance.
  7. Mine has a second option for closer coupling... it just arrived today, and I change the distance about 20 minutes ago!
  8. But hopefully for Hornby won't get discounted to over half its rrp!
  9. Can anyone confirm whether the latest model R3455 'Knight of St Patrick' has got brass bearings on the axles? Many thanks.
  10. I think there are definitely a few inaccuracies, as one of them class 24/1s is also showing as 3rd/4th quarter!
  11. Just bought one of these, when I took it apart to put a decoder in a small part fell out, it looks like it could be a bit of pipe work, but I was hoping someone might be able to point out where it should go!
  12. Although I think the Kings have yet to have their colour tweaked. Hopefully the ones later this year will have the improved colour.
  13. Looking on The Hereford Model Centre website, there are quite a few bargains to be had in the Bachmann steam section (haven't looked at much else yet), 4fs from £76, small prairie tank £72, 5mt from £102, 4mt £87. I'd say these are quite reasonable prices in comparison to current rrp.
  14. I've never been able to get the Bachmann pacifics to go through set track pointwork consistently with their truck arrangement (I'd say may track is quite well laid as many other large locos don't have a problem). I've therefore ended up taking the wheel set out completely, so I'd much prefer the fixed Hornby arrangement.
  15. Now changed to: 'we may just have a big (or small) surprise or two for you'
  16. Latest update online: https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/a-festival-of-southern-locos/ Mention of a "HUGE H Class related surprise" hopefully we won't have to wait too long to find out exactly what that is, but I'm sure we can have a good guess!
  17. No, apparently they are taking a break this week according to their Facebook page.
  18. Bachmann's website seems to have changed the status of the V2 from §=On Order to =Out of Stock, does anyone have any idea what this might symbolise? I hope they haven't been cancelled!
  19. I would think that would be covered under warranty, (as long as it is in the time period).
  20. Cannot wait for the standard 4 to make a reappearance, I have the green one on preorder, but might be tempted by the black one as well (I definitely don't need it though)!
  21. Not quite the same, but we seem to have lost the Clan's tooling...

Thanks for all the replies, it seems it was the bracket which was bent slightly out of shape. Having tweaked it slightly, the loco now runs beautifully through all the points! (Although I think some of my points may not be exactly flat, as my base boards seem to be bowing, giving some peak like joins )

Has anyone had any problems with the these locos derailing on Hornby set track points? Mine derails even at quite slow speeds, it is the bogie that causes the problem. (Back to backs are all correct)
  24. I have compiled the following list of steam locomotives with 21 pin sockets. Almsot all diesels have the 21 pin socket, ecept for shunters and class 105/108 railcars. 3000 ROD 3200 Earl (Dukedog) 3700 City C Class H2 Atlantic G2a (Super D) 3F 0-6-0 4F 0-6-0 7F 2-8-0 D11 Jubilee Patriot Royal Scot Stanier Mogul A1 A2 O4 (Robinson) V2 J11 J39 WD 2-8-0 It is a longer list than I first imagined, and obviously quite a few of the above can be eliminated through the name plate clue and the fact that some of the above haven't been released fully by Bachmann
