  1. I have tried the email on the price list today which is infoshrapnel @ btinternet.com so will update if I receive a response.
  2. Hi I tried emailing him on that two days ago and it go bounced back just now so not sure what the issue is.
  3. Same here only about a quarter the way through the build. Nameplates are nice!
  4. I must admit whilst the model is a little basic still (but ideal for getting the young uns into the hobby) the sound does come across quite well and I will probably invest in a chip for my Bachmann one. The limitation of only being able to play 2 sounds at a time does not bother me in the slightest and the quality of the TTS decoders is improving all the time. One thing I notice for the new Bachmann DRS one is it will be a new tooling with lights so this would finish it off nicely. As an aside I received a TTS 67 the other day and noticed the sounds bear a remarkable resemblance to that in a Soundtraxx decoder for a 66...
  5. Never mind thanks for the reply Charlie. Will take a look at a Scotrail one instead.
  6. Got a Northern 144 from you, will get a 156 when you do Northern. Although Scotrail is tempting.......
  7. I have one in a Bachmann class 66. Whilst I am quite impressed with the quality the prime mover sound runs away with itself and doesn't respond very quickly to a change in speed - any ideas on what CV's to change to sort this out as I cannot seem to get my head around the manual for some reason. If I can resolve that I am planning to buy some more in the near future as a cheaper way of adding sound.
  8. Just ordered one and gonna sell the two Hornby ones I have as they are just not upto the standard of my other higher end models! First time buying a DJM one so looking forward to it!
  9. Have ordered a few times from them and always great service, well packaged and fast delivery.
  10. Just received a TTS 67 and its a very impressive model, the sound is clear and running quality exceptional. Very well built and far superior to the Lima ones - of which I have several.
  11. Halo lights sorted now thanks to John @ YouChoos and all directional which is even better working off F4. I see what he means about the two enamelled wires, Dapol have altered the circuit so that they work with the factory fitted sound decoders (Loksound) and logic level functions, disconnecting the two diodes from the circuit board (de-soldered at one end and twisted out of the way), by doing that they will only work with Loksound or a Zimo 644c decoder which can be either full power or logic level and not with the 644d which is full power only. By taking off the enamelled wires and re-seating the diodes all you are doing is returning the circuit board back to original spec which will work with the Zimo 644d but not Loksound as it is then at full power. Personally I am not totally sure the diodes have not been damaged by the factory process so I followed Johns advice and bypassed with wire rather than attempt to re-seat them. Either way simplest solution is either use Loksound or if you prefer Zimo and don't wish to modify use the 644c and alter the F03 / F04 outputs to logic level as mentioned in other posts. So everyone can be happy and use their preferred sound decoder make.
  12. Thanks to John for this and for emailing me the updated CV values. All done, took all of five minutes and now have fully working halo lights with a Zimo MX644d. Now wheres that factory fitted sound one?
  13. Never mind John @ YouChoos has a work around so you can use the Zimo MX644D see here: http://youchoos.co.uk/Index-Resource.php?L1=Guides&Item=DapolOO68 or http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/120313-Dapol-class-68-oo-with-zimo-mx644d-what-you-need-to-know/ Happy Days! Little project for next day off!
  14. Well if that's true then Dapol have screwed up even more. Not only have they provided models with incredible levels of dodgy parts and the well documented livery error ie breakages at the factory which is obviously poor quality control but now by giving the incorrect information in their DCC decoder info they are additionally costing customers well in excess of £100 for a sound decoder that is not up to the job. Not very happy if that's the case (however I AM very happy with my 68007 as in every other way it arrived perfect). I pre-ordered a sound fitted one, I only bought another when YouChoos released a sound chip and I decided I liked the sound of it so I thought why not fit one myself. The fact of the matter is John @ YouChoos is supplying the decoder recommended by Dapol in their locomotive instructions - so they are not only annoying their own customers by giving out dodgy information - but also a supplier down the chain who is then going to potentially also get it from customers as it is damaging to his reputation. That is completely unfair because hes a top bloke and always helps out when you ask questions and I have had at least 10 sound decoders from him now out of 20 sound fitted locos. Personally for me I will live with it - but it doesn't make me keen on buying more Dapol stuff pre-order preferring to wait until problems are ironed out - if that means risking missing out then so be it. Having said that is their any way around the problem with the decoder without replacing it? Especially since it is provided with 8 normal output functions and 2 logic level outputs for servos / SUSI etc - can they be remapped?
  15. Mines fitted with a Zimo MX644D which is in the literature that comes with the model and still my halos don't work either. Anyone have any idea what the settings of the CV's should be for on/off independent functioning? Currently mapped to F03/04 I know the CV numbers as full list came with the sound chip. I've tried all sorts to get it to work and nothing.......
  16. John is waiting on his own Class 68 arriving today and he is going to have a play to find out how to remap the halo lights. I may hook mine up to Decoder Pro too at some point to gain a full list of CV's but haven't got time at the moment unfortunately.
  17. I am going to ping John @ YouChoos an email regarding the halo lights. His chip is setup for Aux 3 and 4 but mine don't seem to be working either but it might be a simple case of remapping the CV's
  18. I have fitted a 58x22 Bass Reflex speaker in mine and it is a perfect fit with both brackets. Ensure you put all the wires above the speaker though and hold them in place with the two brackets so they don't get fouled when replacing the body. Noticed the two wires but realised they were enamelled before reading this thread and wasn't worried about them. I have ordered a DRS sound fitted one which like everyone else I am still waiting for so that's Biff's; but have ordered a YouChoos one to fit myself for a bit of a difference in the Scotrail one as I like how it sounds a bit different.
  19. I have ordered a DRS Sound one and received a DCC Ready one in Scotrail today ready for a sound chip which will be self fitted during the week. No issues with mine, all detailing parts present and both name plates dead straight. Extremely happy with it!
  20. I remember that layout fondly from being a kid - always wondered what happened to it - would be very good to see it running again!
  21. It was great to meet you and talk - the passion really shone through. I got mine #400 last Thursday and had it out of the box today - following the instructions it is so easy to put together and all was working just fine. I am one very happy chappy - roll on the HST now!
  22. I personally am not interested in knowing how much profit; if any; was made- but for bringing this iconic machine to us in such a stunning form as your first British outline model you deserve to make a profit. I went to York myself on Saturday and talked to the staff there about it and the passion shines through. I tried to chat to Sandra at the locomotion stand but she was very busy every time I went past and appeared to be taking orders for the extras etc and I couldn't hang around with so many people bashing into the kids. Just want to know when to order the Prototype HST now
