  1. Apologies if any content in my last post may alarm or offend anyone. I did try to word it as best as I could. It was a horrible situation and difficult to describe to people without mentioning any graphic details. Hopefully everyone who was involved woke up today in a good place.
  2. Person was on the canopy roof, didnt climb up the train. Got access via the station some how and tried to get on the roof of 1P72 just after arrival at 1:40am. As he got on the roof of the carriage he got zapped. Was on Ipswich Panel when the emergency call came in. It got worse as we then had to have all the ohle turned off asap which meant hale st. To norwich including crown point was turned off and no trains were permitted to move untill BTP were satisfied with the scene. Downside was, the poor person couldn't be moved until they were "extinguished" by fire and rescue and that took a LONG time. subsequent delays to today's services mai ly came from the lack of train movements to and from C.point. 755338 5Q46 failed for me 3 times between ipswich platform 3 and east Suffolk jn at 5am with multiple speedo failures so was a busy night all round. thanks
  3. I've had to use it a few times during failed train situations. Wrong direction moves are becoming quite common these days, mainly down to the Basils, as we will suggest it as the quickest way to remedy the situation and control will agree as they dont want passengers sat in the trains overly long since the 745 fiasco. Not looking forward to going into work tonight......
  4. The downsides to them.....the bing-bong everytime the doors opened and closed while we waited at Liv.St. was really annoying and the fact they only have 4 toilets whereas the hauled sets had 18origionally and about 9 by the time they were altered. Trying to take my 2 kids to the toilet was a mission when half the bloody train was queued for them. Lack of bins was another and then they put vestibule seats right next to them so when someone is sat on them you cant use the bin. Need a few more trips to better understand them.
  5. I'm on 745010 going home from Liv.St...... fingers crossed I make it Jokes aside, REALLY nice unit. Seats dont feel as soft on the back as a mk3 but am very impressed.
  6. That'll be the first failed train to be rescued on the new Brundall workstation then. Hope the guys handled it well.
  7. I was the siggie on duty having to clear that up last night..... bloomin Basils!
  8. Everytime I've seem a 745 pass Colchester PSB on the juice it has always used the rear pan, in both directions. I will ask someone in the know probably a driver on the gsm-r) and find out. Thanks
  9. I assumed the 37 heading out of colchester was 37611 as that's been the one stabled for the duration so far and heard that 37800 was the failed one but it was passing us at quick speed and didnt clock the number so the statement above is probably right. I think it's due to axle weights but not sure. Thanks
  10. Back to Basils...... One has decided to sit down at Cromer and refuse to move. 1Z99 from Colchester has been dispatched in a hurry and cloud of black smoke, as the ROG37 at crown point has failed also. Not sure on unit number and headcode of the Sheringham Basil. Thanks
  11. Thank you. I have but the first 3 are self inflicted and the last 4 rostered.
  12. Had to deal with our first Basil striking a tree this morning. 755420 as 5W12 hit it between Intwood and CO878 on the up Thetford. Driver ok, unit ok and went forward to Thetford where it got stopped again for another tree. Thanks
  13. Damn it, been a while since I was on board a 37. I'm days sun-tues and then nights thurs-sun over the next 8 days. Let me know when you're next rostered on and I'll bring a brew with me.
  14. Tbh I completely forgot you were on standby. Had a learner for most of the evening so was pre occupied with that, hence the memory loss lol were you camped out in the cab?
  15. Is that our infamous @russ pdriving Pegasus?? Looks in his element! I was on Colchester Workstation all night wednesday and didnt get a single chance to send the Thunderbird, was gutted. It's always entertaining when you get the chance to hear the SSM shout "Thunderbirds are go!"
  16. I tend to go very quiet and red in the face, or run around shouting at stuff when things like this happen. My smart watch tends to warn me of my rapidly rising heart rate too Jokes aside, its controlled chaos really with most of the phones ringing constantly and depending on whether it's happened on an NX panel or an MCS workstation, depends on how many can 'work' together on each area at once. MCS tends to be a 1 man only job whereas an NX panel can be triple manned if its particularly bad.
  17. I think that's meant to be network rail staff (NWR). The signallers go through alot of stress is situations like this, plus the signalling shift managers. Then you have the MOMs and RIOs who manage the site on the ground who liaise with Control, BTP and also the signallers, while maintaining the safety of everyone venturing onto the track.
  18. 2D79 has just declared itself a failure approaching Boss Hall Jn on the up ESK. 37611 scrambled as 1Z99 from Colchester to attend with Tena pads as the 755 has had an incontinence issue and let all its fuel out into the 4ft. Thanks
  19. I agree. Chiltern have done it with mk3s, powered plug doors, a dvt and 68s and they're brilliant. DVTs are a bit dated but they work.
  20. Took 5hours to detrain them all. Kidnap cases have been shorter than that.....
  21. 745010 limped by itself as they failed to hook the 37 upto it after 3 different attempts. Limped @5mph from where it sat down, all the way to Stratford and on to Temple Mills. The 37 will be back to colchester soon.
  22. Yeah I noticed it when I came back from my break. Sat down and watched it for a while and then it got going. Diesel issue so got to stow and put the pan up.
  23. It's been there since 9:15! All the passengers are still on it and land sheriffs have had to attend the scene to stop people forcing the doors open and leaving the train. To make things worse, the 37 tried to couple up, messed it all up and caused an air leak, so tried a different coupler and it wouldn't work. So not sure what the plan is next but a train from Liv St. is being prepped to go and help remove the passengers. This is getting worse as the days go by. Not looking forward to work tomorrow
