  1. Can I apologise most sincerely to customers who have been trying to contact me or who have placed orders which have not yet been fulfilled? I was admitted to hospital 10 days ago with a serious condition. I am not sure how much longer I will remain here but rest assured you will be my top priority when I manage to escape!
  2. The TCS Z2 wires only decoder should also be suitable as it was designed for Z gauge locos.
  3. Hopefully one of the guides here will help - https://clarahost.clara.net/www.bromsgrovemodels.co.uk/decoderinstallation4mm.htm#hornbyst
  4. Are you sure the 8-pin plug is the right way round? The loco will still run if the plug is the wrong way round but the lighting won't work. You don't need to read CV8 to put a value into it.
  5. A couple of things: (1) CV3 does not store the loco address - this is held in CV1. CV3 is for momentum. (2) Is the decoder hard wired or connected via an 8-pin plug? If the latter is it plugged in the right way round? (3) How have you tried to reset the decoder? To reset you need to put a value of 2 into CV8 - try this 2 or 3 times. The loco address should reset itself to 3.
  6. I doubt if there is a wiki thread on this but for the answer to the question about selecting locos, see page 44 of the manual which deals with ASSIGNING A LOCO TO A CAB. ASSIGNING A LOCO TO A CAB (shortcut = PROG 2 ) This selection passes a loco or consist from one cab to another. This is especially useful when the other operator is a novice or has a Basic Cab. The locomotive/ consist is passed to the assigned cab and the locomotive/consist controlled by the other cab is passed back to the original cab. In effect the locomotives controlled by the cabs are “swapped”. This way you will not accidentally ‘lose’ a locomotive in the system. ASSIGN THE LOCO Enter the loco/consist number you want to assign to another cab, then press ENTER. If you want to assign the loco you are currently running just push ENTER. WHICH LOCO: _003 ASSIGN THE CAB You need to know the address of the cab you want to ‘receive’ the loco you are assigning. Enter the Cab number then press ENTER. LOC:1234 TO WHICH CAB? _
  7. You can use whatever is ap-peeling for the individual!
  8. It can, indeed, be done quite easily. You need to first check with your friend if there are any other items on the cab bus using the address 3 or above. Assuming there aren't you will need to plug your PowerCab into his cab bus with the curly cable and as you do so keep the SELECT LOCO button pressed down. This will enable you to change your cab address to a vacant address above 2 on the cab bus. The downside of this is that when you next use the cab on your own system you will need to change the address of the cab back to 2 (using the flat cable and the method described above) or your own system won't work!
  9. Not yet, nor the new command station or WOWSound UK Steam Loco decoder. Covid and the furloughing of staff seems to have put paid to any previously announced release dates.
  10. Enter the number of the first loco you want to control Press the RECALL button Enter the number of the next loco you want to control And so on........ As Peter says above you can have up to 6 locos stored in the recall stack. If you want to control a 7th loco you will need to select one of the other locos in the stack and then enter the new loco number.
  11. A very useful review! Yes, it might seem expensive to start with but remember that the cost covers not only development costs but downloadable lifetime updates - see the post 3 above this one (Oct 9th) which gives info about a major upgrade recently released which, amongst other things, allows you to run two locos simultaneously from the same handset with the screen showing details of settings for both locos.
  12. Your two locos should be set up in two slots on the recall stack. That way you only have to press the recall button to switch between the two locos rather than typing the second loco number, which the system then assumes is a new loco. Once a loco is in the stack the system remembers the settings for that loco so switching between them using the recall button you regain control of the next loco in the stack.
  13. I understand the issue when you have to pack away a layout rather than having a permanent setup. Although I have a permanent layout I always program my locos on the programming track and, making sure they are orientated the correct way for my purposes, program the forward direction to always be to the left of the programming track. This provides consistency and negates the necessity to check direction again once they are placed the right way round on the layout (I always place locos so that the forward end is to the left). You could easily identify the forward direction in your situation by placing a coloured sticker on the underside of the loco at the forward end so that once you come to put the loco back on the track it is the correct way round. This would save having to do any testing for direction.
  14. For anyone in Europe, or more specifically the UK, wanting to order TCS products it is probably quicker to order direct by phone using the UK number provided on the TCS website rather than ordering via the TCS online store. This will also overcome the difficulty some UK customers have had with reconciling currency conversions as phone orders will be processed and charged in £.
  15. There has recently been a major upgrade released for the UWT-100 - for details see https://tcsdcc.com/UWT-100_R2_0
  16. See if this helps - https://clarahost.clara.net/www.bromsgrovemodels.co.uk/helcl128dccinstr.htm
  17. .......as do most of the TCS range of decoders......
  18. For anyone who has missed it there is now a major upgrade freely available for the UWT-100 throttle which, amongst a number of other things, allows users to control two locos simultaneously from the same throttle. This means you can see exactly what is happening with both locos at the same time on the handheld throttle. For full details and download/installation instructions see https://tcsdcc.com/UWT-100_R2_0
  19. TCS, the originator of the direct plug decoder, not only offers the DP2X range with a choice of plug orientation but there are now versions available with wires attached to connect Keep Alive® devices.
  20. No it doesn't. I know exactly what happened. But I shall not expand further. Save to say that there are probably a number of decoders cloned from TCS out there via a Chinese factory.
  21. Certainly not with the legal wrangles which followed.
  22. Just to clarify, and to quote from another forum "The UWT-100 supports open standards (WiThrottle and LCC). The Z21 uses a closed proprietary Wi-Fi protocol. It is not fair to blame TCS for a choice that Roco has made to keep their Wi-Fi ecosystem closed."
  23. Using a Digitrax LNWI Loconet Interface will enable the throttle to be used with both Digikeijs and Roco systems. See below UWT-100 throttles are now available by phone with free shipping within the UK.
  24. Not EXACTLY as the OP wanted a DCC fitted option.
