  1. A long time ago I bought this Druzba train set in Hamburg. Today I made a video about it: Regards Fred
  2. Thank you John, I do not have a Walker-Riemsdijk locomotive but information on it can be found on the forum. Of course you should use the correct spelling 😉 : Riemsdijk not Reimsdyk. Regards Fred
  3. Of course with one pack you could represent, have a start for, a short Pullman train like for instance The Calais Bruxelles Pullman Express (or the Ostende-Cologne Pullman Express): Regards Fred
  4. The CIWL set from the Jouef brand is an Etoile du Nord, the Electrotren set is a Sud Express and the RivaRossi set is an Edelweiss. So three completely different trains with different type of CIWL cars. Whether the consists of these trains are realistic might be of no interest here, so I will refrain from further comments. Regards Fred
  5. I am now trying to make these in Gauge 1 from an Occre kit: Regards Fred

  7. Hornby - Rivarossi - Lima - Jouef - Arnold - Electrotren https://www.trainsdepot.org/manufacturers/pdfs/download/1267/hornby_catalog_2024_pdf Regards Fred
  8. The picture is at the end of line 9 which was in Diemen at that time. The Ajaxlus was indeed already gone; from 1998 - 2002 a complete new neighboorhood was built were the former Ajax stadium was located: Esplanade de Meer. Further: line 9 isn't there any more. A few years ago the route was changed and the tram line was renumbered to 19 and does not go to the Central Station anymore. Regards Fred (born in the shadow of stadium De Meer)
  9. For my birthday I received a tinplate Märklin gantry crane (00/H0). I already have some (tinplate) railway cranes with and without wheels so I made a video showing these. Regards Fred
  10. ACE trains are devoid of brake gear (Allen Levy does not like it), but I wonder whether most coarse scale models are devoid of it (I did not make a count). Most US coarse scale models, and these are made in large quantities, do have it. Regards Fred
  11. Hornby Acho is mentioned in my e-book and, as Chris H also mentions, as far as I know these were made in France. I wonder whether Hornby at that time could have made something nice like this 😉 Regards Fred
  12. Table by Greenly: See further my ebook on the subject: http://sncf231e.nl/gauge-and-scale/ Regards Fred
  13. LS Models made under the label Models World a train set of the CIWL Nord Express as it ran from Paris to Berlin and further in 1936. I made an unboxing video of this set: Regards Fred
  14. MBW was renamed into Spur01Modellbahnen. They have a service department which I assume can supply parts and/or answer questions Regards Fred
  15. The fun of running trains outside 😉: After I shot this video the train was stopped and standing on the track and I went to fetch a bottle of water. A gust of wind went through the garden and the complete train went off the track and on the ground. I'l have some repairs to do 🙁 Regards Fred
  16. When the train is full I just sit on the rear coupler. Regards Fred
  17. Here is a video I made showing two versions, with very diffferent interior, of the same CIWL car made in o gauge by Elettren: A Côte d'Azur Pullman car and a Salon Car used in the Blue Train between Paris and the South. Three Côte d’Azur WP cars with numbers 4160, 4162 and 4164 were transformed in all blue Voiture Bar Salon for the Train Bleu. Regards Fred
  18. With all the attention to detail, sound and prototypical operation, using also DCC, it might seem that were are getting into accurate model railwaying. However, untill we are going to use radii of some 20 feet, we are still playing toys. Regards Fred
  19. American Flyer made the NYC Hudson also in other gauges. Here are three American Flyer Hudsons with matching trains in three different gauges (H0, S and 0) running together. Regards Fred
  20. My Hornby R845 from the seventies has chuff-chuff sound (from the tender). It is mechanical. Regards Fred
  21. A coincidence? I have (almost) the same consist: Regards Fred
