  1. Very disappointed to have received an email from a well known Liverpool based retailer this morning saying that my money has been refunded for my Sun Castle because they are sold out; I must have been one of the first to order with them, immediately following the announcement of the Hornby A2/3 so how can they be sold out of it? I have emailed back my disappointment but Has anyone else received such an email?
  2. As an alternative to going at the numberplate with a knife, is the smokebox front removable so it can replaced by the later version from Sun Castle?
  3. There’s been discussion on the Hornby A2/3 thread about how it would be great if someone would produce an A2/1 body to fit into the new Hornby A2/3 chassis to create the A2/1. Sounds ds right up your street, niu!
  4. Just ordered Steady Aim which will become Honeyway while my Sun Castle will become the later Steady AIM.
  5. Thanks for all the answers. Maybe niu might be interested in producing a new boiler and cab to fit to the A2/3 chassis....?
  6. Sorry if I sound thick but could a Hornby A2/3 be adapted to become an A2/1, specifically 60509?
  7. It’s gone very quiet over the last month.
  8. Britbus Bristol LHs go for a mint on Ebay, wish someone would get the moulds and reissue them. ditto BT’s intended Bristol MW In dual purpose cream and red which was never produced, more’s the pity how about an early Bristol RE/ECW from 63-66?
  9. Any news on the Rolls Royce engined Clayton Class 17 bonnets, please?
  10. Are any of the larger and wealthier manufacturers - Hornby, Bachmann, Heljan and Dapol - giving any of their profits to help restore the original locos of their models?
  11. Very nearly a quid to send a letter by Royal Mail now. When we went decimal in February 1971, first class post was 3p the equivalent of 43p in today’s values, but the cost today is actually almost twice that at 85p. Larger letters and parcels are correspondingly more. And Royal Mail wonder why people do their best not to use them.
  12. KR have announced on their Facebook page, “GT3 is en route to the UK” :-D
  13. According to Wikipedia (yes, I know), 36001- 36005would have been CC101 - CC105

I remember the Cuneo Condor one; it took me ages to spot the mouse!
  15. I think parts to convert ready run Scots into 6399 Fury would be attractive.

If it were a Kardashian it would have a huge tender behind........
  17. Photo of said class 40s here: https://brdiesels.livejournal.com/1695.html. See the pics of D260, 40 063, D264 and 40 066. the pic of “D251” approaching Falhill Summit is reportedly really D261.
  18. As it is going ahead, it would appear that thousands of others, me included, have found it quite clear and have not been put off ordering.
  19. A new suggestion; any chance of the replacement headcode box fitted in 1965 to class 40s numbers D260-D266? They had square corners rather than rounded seen on D345-D399. Better still would be a sort of headcode box“frame” with square corners but which allowed use of the existing headcode box to fit to a Bachmann D345-D399 so the illuminated headcode could still be used. dont want much, do I..................!
  20. Thanks again, 26 Power, It’s a bu99er when you can no longer do the most basic of modelling like the Judith Edge parts need.
  21. Thanks, yes, but they are flat brass which needs shaping, attaching and filling which may be the most basic of modelling but my old eyesight isn’t very good and getting progressively worse, hence the suggestion for pre-shaped plastic versions. Age gets us all.
  22. Yep, that’s it. There are a couple of specialist books on the Claytons which probably will have suitable drawings in them. https://rail-books.co.uk/products/clayton-type-1-bo-bo-diesel-electric-locomotives-class-17-9781909625648 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clayton-Type-Bo-Bo-Diesel-Electric-Locomotives/dp/1526762005. Out next March
  23. Several shots of the two Rolls Royce powered Claytons on here https://www.flickriver.com/groups/3070756@N25/pool/
  24. Hope this isn’t busting any copyright, delete if it it does; I only meant to put the link on but for some reason it’s shown the photo. Raised bonnets are subtle but definitely there.
  25. Not sure if I can without breaking copyright but I might be able to post some links to photos or sites.
