  1. This one is a bit earlier than I'd normally do.... but, Accurascale show that in formation with their MK2B RTCs in 1991 was ADB 975091 Mentor.... Just had to.... the RTC era Mentor. Just got to see if I can pick top those coaches now!
  2. I use sketchup. Most of what I do I don’t have dimensions for (I tend to work off videos and photos) so I use shapes and proportions. That works well for sketchup. If I had drawings and proper dimensions then I’d likely go another route, but, I don’t!
  3. I am thinking of having a go at building one of these using 3D prints. Has anyone got dimensions/pictures of them so that I can have a go at creating the models!!
  4. I’m not sure there’s too many out there that have NEM pockets. Some earlier Bachmann B4s will but you will have to re-bush the chassis to do it and the Bachmann bosses are a bit more complicated. Personally I use Keen Systems close couplings mounted to the chassis and fitted with Hunt magnetics. Then you can cut the couplings off the replica ones but you probably need to cut a notch on them for the coupling.
  5. And 153311 done, just the last few tiny decals to go over:
  6. 153376 finished with working lights and sound. Some fine tuning of the acceleration required
  7. Top lamp bracket, nose aerials and numbers removed. Stripe at the ready….
  8. So, light guides all printed, LEDs superglued and resistors in place. The headlights are on a common resistor (they won’t be operated together) and the marker/rear similarly. 5 wires to go back to the decoder at each end…
  9. Hi Andy Thanks, I appreciate the comments! I used Vallejo Game Colour Electric Blue 72.023 Feel free to PM me if you are looking for parts. Thanks Andy
  10. If happy with the position of the stripe I would apply a decal over the top. I’ve done it on a coach and it covered no problem. Getting it to sit down on the grills will take some doing though.
  11. My 401 is on order for exactly this reason. I was going to convert an Accurascale 37409 but even if I have to remove the red stripe and end up repainting the light grey this will be an easier mod than removing the ETH nose connector, cutting in the body side window and still having to do a repaint!
  12. Without the lights wired in yet nor the underbody inspection lights fitted. The macro zoom shots are a little unfair though!:
  13. Thinking about the wiring for the VIU units.... I think I am going to cut the fixed cab interior off of the main interior and mount both cabs and lights permanently in the body along with the decoder and speaker. That way all the additional wiring for that stays together in the body. I'll then use the 8-pin connector as Hornby intended but take the yellow or white off the PCB via the existing connections to feed the chassis lights and the other I'll disconnect from the 8-pin decoder plug and re-purpose it for the end lights....
  14. Also adding to the NVA fleet. I’ve got more detail into the doors and buffer beam/rub strips. These will take Keen Systems couplings and sprung buffers. (it has been noted that I got my number upside down. Doh, that should have been the easy bit!)
  15. 153376 appears to have got ahead of 153311! Decals in progress of being applied. I have the ends to do still, but looking good. I think I will make the ploughs body mount at some point too. I’ve also got to work out the wiring for the lights and decoder with regard to body removal once I have the glazing back in..
  16. Very interesting. Clearly it must be the gloss reflecting the sky, and just shows how you can't trust colours from videos and pictures. https://api.flickr.com/photos/thejamstertrains/53477843299/in/pool-1703382@N21/ I am clearly using paint to simulate reflected sky!
  17. From this video they all look they are now grey:
  18. I am updating my NMT fleet and was looking to see what changes I need to make to bring it up to date. My main question is regarding roofs of the power cars and the mk3 coaches. Does anyone have information/pictures that confirm the current roof colour of all the vehicles? It’s so difficult to determine if they are all the same or if some are now grey and others black. Any help much appreciated!
  19. I tried to DM you but seems you are not available. You might need a certain number of posts first?
  20. I do need to tidy up my NMT ones. It looks like one or more have grey roofs now. Do you have any definitive info on those!!?
  21. I actually went and looked again at what other colours I had. I just went over them withModel Air Sinai Gray 82 71.142 and that's a better match. A slight blend of the 2 likely get you near on perfect
