Self-Storage Unit and Insurance
hamish_barb replied to hamish_barb's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Thanks, I've contacted magnet who have advised that they do not cover trains stored in self-storage units. I would rather have a separate policy as I live with flatmates and don't really want to add these trains onto an existing policy, but thank you for the suggestion. I've contacted my self-storage insurance provider and they are looking into this for me. I'm confident that the models that I bought brand new from onlne stores will be covered as they have receipts/invoices etc, however what about trains that I've bought used/brand new from eBay and from private collectors, for which I do not have receipts or proof of purchases, as they were purchased cash in hand? Do Insurance companies cover those? -
Hi all I've been collecting trains for a while now and have got a storage unit to keep them in, until I get a bigger place with a separate area for my layout (should be at least 3/5 years till this happens). Till then, I've got a very good deal on a storage unit, however I wanted to ask regarding insurance. Some of the models I have are bought brand new and therefore have a receipt. Quite a few of my models however are bought from eBay which do have a 'eBay receipt' which aren't really official per say, like a high street store, and again, quite a few of my models were bought cash in hand from forums / shows etc. Therefore in regards to the self-storage insurance, would all of my models be covered? Or only those that have a receipt from a high street / online store. What about eBay purchases and cash in hand purchases? If normal insurance does not cover it, are their suitable alternatives? Thank you

Thanks everyone. I am finalising my purchase, and in order to make the most realistic rake as possible with what Hornby offer, should I therefore get 4x sleeper coaches, 1x buffet and 2x TSO? I understand some members have noted above how the TSO is not the BUO, but with what Hornby currently offer, is my above mentioned rake ok in terms of the closest I can get to the real thing? Thanks
-
Thanks John. What is LA15? And will Hornby be releasing other MK 3 GWR coaches?
-
Hi everyone. I'm in the final stages of completing a rake of Mk 3 coaches. Can someone please confirm if these are the correct coaches to get, in order to form a full rake of 8 for my GWR HST: 1x R4779 TRUB 1x R4780 TGS 2x R4781 TSO 3x R4781A TSO 1x R4815 T Thanks.

Hi all I'm planning on buying a few Class 450s and class 350s, to run together as 8 car units. With the standard couplers, does this mean that the trains don't run well in 8 car sets on curves etc? Thanks
-
Same here. Cancelled my preorder after I contacted Hornby who advised their would be no coaches produced. This was quite a few months ago, has anyone heard more recently about the coaches in case they have changed their plans? I'm guessing they will probably do a Virgin Trains East Coast 5 car model as opposed to more coaches.

Hey everyone. Will Dapol be releasing a Class 68 with the DRS livery with just the DRS logo, as shown below in this link? It is the 68027. Thanks http://www.mainlinediesels.net/images/basic/stadler_2945_51.jpg

Are these Desiro's going to sell out quickly? I want to probably get 2 around Christmas time but I'm worried these will sell out!

Bachmann to produce S Stock for London Transport Museum
hamish_barb replied to Andy Y's topic in Bachmann
Sorry, you are correct, it was £70. I just find £70 for basically changing some numbers on the train to be a bit of a farce. Just my £0.02. -

What warrants the price going up by £70? As I understand, all that has changed are simply the running numbers? -
Any chance I could get confirmation? Would really appreciate it. Thanks

Thanks everyone for all your help. As you can tell this is somewhat new for me! Therefore, to get a full rake, I should purchase the following: 1x R4779 TRUB 1x R4780 TGS 1x R4815 TF 2x R4781 TSO 3x R4781A TSO Is this correct? Instead of 2x TF coaches and 4x TSO coaches, it's 1x TF and 5x TSO, complemented with 1x TRUB/Buffet, 1x TGS and 1x TGS? Thanks
-
Thanks. Therefore, to make a full rake for a HST, I need to order: 1x R4779 TRUB 1x R4780 TGS 2x R4815 TF 2x R4781 TSO 2x R4781A TSO Is this correct? I'm guessing then, Hornby technically need to release another TF coach, and another 2 seperate TSO coaches if I went coaches A-H? But I take it that you're saying to order these now, and when Hornby do release (if they do) the aforementioned TF and 2x TSO coaches, I can just swap them out?
-
Thanks! So at the moment, only the following are available for pre-order: R4779 TRUB R4780 TGS R4781 TSO R4781A TSO R4815 (TF) Does that mean we are waiting for 3 more coaches to complete the rake, or should I buy 2 TGS' and 4 TSO open coaches? I want to get the whole rake as it would be in a real HST, so I'm guessing each coach is labelled A to H? If that's the case, should I wait for these extra 3 coaches to be released then?
-
Thanks. I've only just started modelling. Based on what I have for my intercity mk3 coaches, they came as 8 seperate coaches with 8 seperate R numbers. Is this not the case with the GWR Mk3 coaches?
-
Hi I'm trying to preorder the full rake of Hornby GWR mk3 coaches. Does anyone have all the relevant R numbers to hand? The Hornby website only has 3 of them. Aren't there meant to be 8 seperate coaches, so 8 seperate R numbers? Thanks

Oxford Rail announces - OO gauge Mk3 coaches
hamish_barb replied to MGR Hooper!'s topic in Oxford Rail
I guess I'll be waiting then. Any idea when the HST Mk3s will be announced roughly? -
Hahaha thanks chaps! Yes, other than the fact that these things seem so easily breakable (I only let nephews and nieces near an old class 60 and some wagons, nothing else!), they also cost an arm and a leg and therefore for now, I'll be leaving the consisting for when Bachmann release modern trains that can be coupled together more easily. If it only meant replacing the coupler like I've done on an H0 American Loco I have, which just meant unscrewing one screw, then I'd maybe have done it. However gluing things etc are just not my forte! I have a very good train shop near me, however I cannot ask them to replace all of the DMU couplers I have, it will cost me too much and I don't want them to do it for free as it isn't nice. Furthermore this seems like more of a modification job and may be something they won't do. I'm so worried about breaking these things that I take my trains in to be DCC fitted, that is even the trains that are DCC ready. All my non-DCC ready trains will be going in slowly over the years once I can afford to get them DCC chipped.
