  1. Does anyone know when the Class 150s/1558/159/170s are due to be released, now that we have prices? Thanks
  2. Thanks. I was just worried about the Hornby models, as I thought the 5-car R3514 wouldn't match the 3-car coach pack in terms of paint. I'm not worried about it being a prototypical rake. Therefore I'm going to wait till December 2018 and have pre-ordered the 2-car Queen Elizaeth/Victoria GWR Class 800, and subsequent coach packs. By then I guess we'll have an idea of if Hornby will be releasing 9-car variants. If not, I'll they do, I'll have these coach packs are spares. I don't see them releasing a 9 car variant in GWR green that quickly after December 2018 (when the 3-car coach pack will be released) - a lot of consumers will be annoyed as I'm sure a lot of us want to have 9-car formations.
  3. So the R3514 (5-car Class 800s) are vinyls, but the R3609 (2-car Queen Victoria/Elizabeth version) are painted? Also, the 3-car Class 800 coach pack, I'm assuming these are painted? If the above is correct, why have Hornby decided to release a vinyl model, and a painted model? Thanks
  4. Any chance I could get this too? I started collecting a year ago and have quite a bit left to collect. Thanks
  5. Thank you both. I've pre-ordered 3 coach packs to go with my 2x Class 800s. I know they won't be prototypical, but will tide me over till 2019/2020 if and when Hornby do release coaches. Don't want to take the risk and not buy them.
  6. Thinking about, I think you're all on to something. The class 159 is still in service with SWT (south western railway), so makes sense for Bachmann to produce it
  7. As someone that only models modern railway trains, I'm very happy with the announcements from Hornby and Bachmann. It's going to be an expensive year, well few years actually, as these retools mean a lot of older liveries are going to be back. Like you, luckily I picked up some of the rarer liveries for quite cheap (Class 159 SWT for £90, class 221 cross country for £100, class 166 FGW for £100), so don't mind buying the brand new ones and selling these for around what I paid for them. Some of the prices I've seen the 221 cross country go for are insane. A retooled 221 which can be coupled together to form a 10 car consist would be amazing!
  8. What 3 car 159 has been announced? Haven't seen anything?
  9. Wasn't Bachmann's new site meant to be up and running by now? No word on release dates thus far!
  10. Hi all I've got 2x GWR R3514s on order, this is the full 5 train GWR Class 800 pack. Can I use the 3-coaches that come with the newly announced R4780 coach pack to form a 8-car train? I know the prototypical rake is 5 or 9 cars, but could this work? Or will Hornby now release the remaining coaches, as they do with HSTs? I'm just worried that they won't, as they normally release corresponding coaches upon release of the HSTs, right? (As can be seen with this year and the new MK3 Swallow coaches). Thanks
  11. Hi all With Bachmanns announcement yesterday, they also announced within their news page that the 2nd generation DMUs they're retooling (Clas 158, 170 etc), will have functional BSI couplings. Now, does this mean that the couplings will allow multiple rakes of trains to be formed together to confirm a consist? E.g, 2x 3-car Cross Country 170 sets to form a 6-car set. Or do they mean prototypical in the sense that it looks the part, is accuracy modelled and moves around, but WILL NOT allow trains to be connected together to form consists? Thanks Hamish
  12. Dumb question, but haven't Hornby already released a Class 43 GWR and MK3 GWR coaches? What would the partnership with Oxford be needed for?
  13. Fine by me, more time to save! Need to buy 2
  14. When will the East Midlands Class 156s be out? And when is the final date for pre-order? (need to start saving!) Thanks
  15. OO gauge. I find N gauge to be a bit too small, plus there's more variety of OO.
  16. Nice to see someone else within the age bracket (24 here). Just need to find a big enough house to build my own layout, but living here in London, that probably won't happen for at least another 3 decades.
  17. Just read on the Bachmann news website, that the updated DMUs (Class 158, 170 etc), will have 'Functional BSI couplings on outer ends' Does that mean that we can now couple 2 sets of Class 170s together without any modification? Or does functional mean that they just look the part rather than actually being able to connect multiple sets of trains together? Thanks
  18. But they're not releasing a Class 159 SouthWest Trains livery? Or are they? Haven't seen it.
  19. So just to double check: No Class 150 GWRs? The Cross Country 170 is a 3-car version as opposed to a 2car version which is on the website currently? There's also a Southern Class 170 2 car? No GWR Class 166, but there will be a GWR 2-car Class 158? Finally, a Class 170 3-car Scotrail Saltire? Thanks
  20. Does anyone know when the Intercity Swallow Mk3s (that are pulled by HSTs) will be released by OxfordRail, as my current understanding is that the MK3s that are in production now are the Diesel hauled ones? Thanks
  21. Sorry for another ask, but does anyone have a link to the correct MK3s that Oxford is producing for the HST prototype?
  22. Any updates on the HST prototype from locomotion?
  23. Hi all I've seen a lot of Hornby FGW Purple HSTs for sale on eBay recently, alongside the respective FGW Purple Mk3 coaches. Are Hornby or another company releasing a newer version of the FGW Purple Class 43 HST or the Coaches? Or is another company thinking of manufacturing FGW purple Mk3 Coaches, such as Oxford Rail? If so, I may put my set up on eBay too! Thanks
  24. Thanks everyone. I have contacted some insurance companies and they have said that for the models that don't have receipts, I should keep pictures and an Inventory of all of my trains (which I luckily already have) However, some have also mentioned that I should get a valuation of my entire stock, does any know of someone/shop/online entity that does this? Thanks. I'll put some of the small packs of the desiccant/selica gel packets. As I bubblewrap the boxed train, then place the bubble wrapped box into a corrugated cardboard box, then sellotape the cardboard box and put it into storage, should I put a few packs of desiccant gel firstly physically with the train and its box, then also in the corrugated cardboard box that it goes in? Thanks
