  6. Indeed, and the drawing on the box is a BR1B, but the tender in the box is a BR2. But the one on sale that drew the comment is NOT either of these. Keith
  7. Except that the pic of the model on sale does not have a BR2, nor does it have a BR1B. It appears to be a BR1 or 1A and as the OP said, I think that is wrong. Keith

  15. If you don't want to run it on DCC just take the electronics out and connect the pick ups to the motor, should then run fine. If you want the lights you will need to create a new lighting circuit. Keith

  18. That looks more like one of the mobile railguns intended for firing from the rail, google on "railway guns". Gunset wagons were substantially smaller and usually had one heavy duty wagon to carry the but and a lighter version for the thin end. There were quite a range of such wagons pre-group to carry gunbarrels to the shipyards. Keith edited the google search term, apparently railgun is now something else altogether. Keith
  19. And the condition report is: Condition: New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item. See the seller's listing for full details. Even though it is definitely damaged, deliberately, and is not even supplied in the original box, was that for sale separately? Keith
  20. Since these locos do not have serial nos there is no evidence to link the specific model to the box, especially as apparently at least one of the labels relates to a class 29. Keith

  22. Always a 4-8-4 actually, the two centre axles were directly coupled internally through the gearbox, the centre set of coupling rods were redundant and were removed because they were causing problems of some kind. Regards Keith

That should read "Some Garratts", perhaps even "Most Garratts" but Derby did insist on the standard midland 8' +8'6" wheelbase, and since the whole railway was built to suit locos with that wheelbase it was not an issue for them. Incidentally, not such a big size difference between a GMAM and an LMS Garratt, the GMAM was some way off the SAR's biggest.   25. Since it is more or less impossible to sell old magazines as the postage is far more than they are worth, mine ended up in the dump, perhaps these various sellers of ad or article pages have the right idea, does anyone know if they actually manage to sell them? Keith
