  1. Wonder when the rest of the EM2 will turn up? Keith
  2. Really does seem totally muddled, Its an '0' gauge 4-6-0 in the header, a '00' 4-6-2 in the text and in the details it changes to made by Wills.? Keith
  3. Well, being pre-painted they would not solder well Keith
  4. This one is more interesting though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EVER-READY-LONDON-UNDERGROUND-ELECTRIC-TRAIN-SET-BOXED-/171007079058?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27d0d0f292 Keith
  5. Indeed, and the drawing on the box is a BR1B, but the tender in the box is a BR2. But the one on sale that drew the comment is NOT either of these. Keith
  6. Except that the pic of the model on sale does not have a BR2, nor does it have a BR1B. It appears to be a BR1 or 1A and as the OP said, I think that is wrong. Keith
  7. And that's the economy delivery! Perhaps it comes with a dozen cases of wine and 2011 was a good vintage. Keith
  8. Seems to be missing the smokebox door, can't see the state of the firebox door. Keith
  9. Indeed, hoping for two and a half grand they need to do a much better selling job. Keith
  10. Because they wanted it..? Keith PS, might not be obvious to someone who does not know Metcalfe from Skaledale, the sellers late change of description suggests the bids took them by surprise.
  11. There is also an article on North eastern Electric Locos in "Railway World Annual" 1987, includes 5 shots of the ES1s including 3 in the yards (ISBN 0 7110 1636 4) published by Ian Allan. Keith
  12. Did they ever run without skirts in that livery? Keith
  13. But then Dave's price does not include two sets of wheels and an Airfix kit, so maybe the bidders know what they are doing. Keith
  14. If you don't want to run it on DCC just take the electronics out and connect the pick ups to the motor, should then run fine. If you want the lights you will need to create a new lighting circuit. Keith
  15. Since the likelyhood of someone having just that combination of unboxed models needing boxes seems quite low, perhaps the buyer thinks they can strike gold by selling them on individually. Keep a look out Keith
  16. Showing good taste there Beast Keith And long before that the Manchester "Dog track".
  17. That looks more like one of the mobile railguns intended for firing from the rail, google on "railway guns". Gunset wagons were substantially smaller and usually had one heavy duty wagon to carry the but and a lighter version for the thin end. There were quite a range of such wagons pre-group to carry gunbarrels to the shipyards. Keith edited the google search term, apparently railgun is now something else altogether. Keith
  18. And the condition report is: Condition: New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item. See the seller's listing for full details. Even though it is definitely damaged, deliberately, and is not even supplied in the original box, was that for sale separately? Keith
  19. Since these locos do not have serial nos there is no evidence to link the specific model to the box, especially as apparently at least one of the labels relates to a class 29. Keith
  20. The logical next step is to sell £10 notes. Keith
  21. Always a 4-8-4 actually, the two centre axles were directly coupled internally through the gearbox, the centre set of coupling rods were redundant and were removed because they were causing problems of some kind. Regards Keith
  22. That should read "Some Garratts", perhaps even "Most Garratts" but Derby did insist on the standard midland 8' +8'6" wheelbase, and since the whole railway was built to suit locos with that wheelbase it was not an issue for them. Incidentally, not such a big size difference between a GMAM and an LMS Garratt, the GMAM was some way off the SAR's biggest. 23. I don't think they do, they just think it is good weathering. Keith
  24. Since it is more or less impossible to sell old magazines as the postage is far more than they are worth, mine ended up in the dump, perhaps these various sellers of ad or article pages have the right idea, does anyone know if they actually manage to sell them? Keith
  25. The Garratt locomotive is one of the Rhodesia Railways 15th class made in the Beyer Peacock Gorton works Daniel Adamson, of the "Go to it" had a works alongside the Woodhead route at Newton, just a few miles from Beyer Peacock, but I'm not sure that's the one pictured. Keith
