  1. three KiwiRail DXC locos on banking duty at Otari, with one still in the 'Corn-Cob' green/yellow livery
  2. yes, I only needed the gantries on the top loop as there was nothing above the tracks to attach the rail to. I just don't have any photos of lower down the helix
  3. This what I've done with my N gauge helix so the pantographs are run up, but not fully extended
  4. there would have been the jurnos and the DfT people, who'd have made a special trip down to Bristol for the sole purpose of coming back to London (paid for by whom...??), so a few extra who will never be taking that trip again.
  5. It always surprises me how much nicer the roads suddenly get during the school holidays. Every single jam (when I'm in the office) is clear, It's amazing how much morning traffic is due simply because of the school run...
  6. easier taking survey equipment to site in London by car, than trying to use public transport.
  7. it wasn't the coughing that carried him off, but the coffin they carried him off in.
  8. I'm not sure if this counts as an official sign... but probably best to obey it still! Up by Arthur's Pass on South Island, NZ
  9. well, it was quite early on a Sunday morning, so it was a very easy ticket to give (especially if the Audi pulls over straight away - as it did) when there's probably not a lot going on yet.
  10. The joy when an Audi overtakes you for driving at 30 through the village where the speed limit is 30... and then overtakes the car ahead... which turns out to be an unmarked police car...
  11. Travelling on the TranzAlpine in New Zealand... train, boat... no-one said anything about there needing to be water about, right??
  12. I was playing with the panoramic setting on my camera whilst in Sheffield And I spent an evening at Crewe when this came through... and kept coming through as it was two sets This was also in Crewe And just something in red (also Crewe)
  13. the first is from Jasper, a Canadian National U-1-a parked up at the station and further down the line, a pair of CN Dash 9's hauling a bunch of military vehicles and going back to the year 2000, the crossing at Wernigerode on the HSB
  14. hehe, thought it looked vaguely familiar!!
  15. So, having driven on my rear bumper for three miles of country lanes, the boy racer and I got to the end of the road and the staggered junction at the end of it. I made the initial left turn, then stopped for the right (on coming traffic) when *BANG*, and the boy racer behind had just ignored the fact I'd stopped and gone straight into the back of me. "I thought you were going straight across the junction" he said... sometimes I wonder how people even pass their tests...
  16. For first, up top of the Brocken, with foggy weather... and because sunny is also weather, a Santa Special on the Mid Hants Line one of these was taken in the middle of summer... one of these was taken in December... I'll let you decide which!
  17. Travelling on the east bound Canadian, as the west bound passes, somewhere in Ontario
  18. A model of the Raurimu Spiral (NZ), in a local tourist centre. Alas it wasn't working when I visited, though though this is a nice video (not mine) of a train going up the spiral. how about something in a suburban setting??
  19. A few from New Zealand from me. The first is one of the two loco swaps you have on the Overlander, in this case we have just switched from diesel and connecting to electricity. Then down to the South Island, and to two of the locomotives of the Kingston Flyer (not running when we visited) and finally, travelling back to Christchurch on the TranzAlpine, looking at the Southern Alps (which for some reason can only be show in this size, smaller, or full resolution... go figure)
  20. hehe, that's the one, tis the same train in two places on the same bridge (as you said, a single tracked bridge) apart from forum kudos...??
  21. a couple of trains on bridges, the first is an obvious one... and this is Montrose bridge... I'll wait to see if anyone can pick up what's wrong with the photo.... and it's not that the bridge looks to be on a slope... because it really is!
