  1. Getting back to topic, I think the idea of a second run of a pair of Sealink SKs for the Collectors Club is a great one allowing you to model a more prototypical train. Hi I spoke to Dennis Lovett at the Glasgow Exhibition, about the possibility of producing the remaining coaches to complete this train. He informed me that there was no immediate plans to do so, but to register my interest via the collectors club. Apologies if you're reading this again. I wasn't sure which topic to post under. Stephen
  2. Hi Dave I seem to remember reading that the first seven "pilot scheme" class twenty sixes weren't fitted with snow plough brackets. I could be wrong though. Stephen
  3. Hi Dave May I suggest that you turn the speaker over, so that the sound is bouncing off the track. If you take a round file and file out a groove on opposite sides of bottom end of the speaker, thus allowing the speaker to fit inside those two screw holders on the chassis. This makes it easier to re-fit the body and does away with tight fit problem. If you like the sound difference, you could try it on the class fifty eight also. Regards Stephen
  4. Hi I'd happily buy D200 (40 122) Or a split headcode class 37 in unbranded triple grey livery. Stephen
  5. Hi Darren I have the tamper unit and some of their exclusive departmental coaches. I therefore can thoroughly recommend the models and the level of service. Stephen
  6. Hi Peter Congratulations on one hundred pages. I have just finished reading from page one and enjoyed every page. As for photo requests, anything on the ballast train would do for me. Thanks again Stephen
  7. This is going to cause a sharp intake of breath and therolling of many pairs of eyes skywards......but can this be operated on DC and if it can what range of sound,if any, could be achieved ?Apologies for my heresy...but I only asked. The sound of a 40 remains in my ears from way back....1959. Hi Ian Dcc sound locos can definitely be run on dc powered track. As has already has been stated, you will only get the start up and running sounds, no horns etc. You may need to change some cv's though. I'm sure this question has been asked and answered on the Dcc sound topic of the forum. We as a club (Ayr mrg) tried it on our oo layout "Swinlees" about four years ago and posted the results on you-tube. It was limited, but enjoyable, it did show the potential. So much so most of the members have now gone over to full Dcc. Hope that helps Stephen
  8. So that's how you make 2mm look like 4mm. You plonk it in the hands of a lovely young lady. Noted for future reference.:-X Dirty Mack on and leaving the building before mods and Andy Y read this. Hee hee. Stephen
  9. Hi One of the old Ayr drivers in our club told us as soon as he saw the rtr model, that you only got put on that loco if you were in the bad books. It was used to shunt the fish traffic on the South harbour dock, and you were stuck on it all week. I'll have to ask him why it was called the "chip cairt" Stephen
  10. Hi Has anybody had any contact with Hornby recently regarding this problem? The reason I am asking is that I have just found 31 270 and 31 110 in my collection with this problem. I noticed in an earlier posting that someone mentioned Hornby had stopped their replacement service. I was wondering if this was true. Regards Stephen
  11. Hi You could make a fortune here. In more ways than one:-X How to make a small item, look huge in a good looking young ladies hands. ;-)Please explain. You could have found a niche market here and not just in the model rail world. This could change things for all of mankind. Stephen Ps I now see you've used photoshop. How do I know? There is no way that split headcode peak in the background is only £77. You're good, you are!:-D
  12. Hi Jamie I can agree with most of of your posting, but with the proviso that within this topic people have been as quick to offer help as they have been to critisise. Look at the amount of fixes that Tractor, Grunfos etc have offered up to permanently solve this problem. I think these acts alone, gives credit to the forum. Best regards Stephen
  13. Hi I myself have bought a forty and cleaned all the gunk out as the alternative to sending it back. I've fitted an esu 3.5 sound chip in it, and guess what? It still stalls on live points. So if Bachmann think that their own sound forty is going to work without a complete reworking of the bogie pick ups, they're in for a nasty shock. So thanks to Tractor, Grunfos and blue eighties etc I am now going to alter the pick ups itself. I'd be far happier if Bachmann had taken the leed and offered new corrected bogies in exchange for the faulty ones. I would be quite happy to do the re-install work myself. This would be good PR for Bachmann and save them a fortune for all these ineffective repairs. I also have to admit to being quite surprised at how lightly Bachmann are getting taken to task over this faulty£100 model. I think their initial fault fix helped temporarily, but it isn't a long term fix and the faults are still there. Can you imagine the uproar If Hornby had made it, we'd be calling for heads to roll. Saying that with Hornby's track record for new releases, Imaging a class forty is what we'd still be doing. Stephen
  14. Hi Just a bit of praise here for the Class forty presevation society. I received my class forty from them today(Monday) It was posted on Friday. The model was only slightly dearer than the average retailers prices, but at least all the profits are ploughed back into the upkeep of the real thing. I took the model to the club to test on our dc and Dcc layouts and the good news is, that it ran perfectly on both layouts without any changes to cv's or adjustments to pick ups. There was no stalling on points at mark two on the Lenz 100 system, no flickering of lights either and this was all on uncleaned track. The chip was easily programmed also. Maybe I have been lucky, but full praise to Bachmann for an excellent model. The club members were so impressed with the running and looks of the model that they have ordered another four from the CFPS. Stephen
  15. Hi Lee That's a very impressive piece of work. You've certainly earned your commission there. Well done Stephen
  16. Hi Doing the thirty sevens in a colas version of loadhaul livery would be interesting. Stephen
  17. Hi It looks as if it's going to interesting, trying to fit a bass enhanced speaker or any other speaker into that body. The new circuit board doesn't have the same room. And even if you kept the old speaker those springy contacts will make using black tac a non starter. Time for the trusty old soldering iron to make an appearance again. Regards Stephen
  18. Hi Timber from Oban to Caledonian papermill Irvine. Is on the jungle drums down here. What is the number of the 37? please! Stephen
  19. Hi Just checked the brm article. It's a twenty one pin chip. Regards Stephen
  20. Hi I've ordered two. One for myself and one for a club member. There's only two pounds of a difference between Hattons and the Society. £88-£90. Hattons won't miss the two pounds. But the preservation group could badly do with the money. Well worth it. Stephen
  21. Hi Surely a channel four program is a must, with all of the above colourful characters it must tick all the boxes for them. Failing that, surely the new (cough, splutter)couple Jack and Danny would be a hit. Stephen What do you mean their not.... It's rhyming what? Oh Dear! It seems I've made a dreadful mistake, apologies all round. What about channel 5? O
