  1. Nice plan. It might be worth relooking at some of the station point work, for me, it would look better if the line entered the station through the middle platform/track (platform 2). I mention this due to the practice of having the first train that enters the station being closest to the building, with the next arriving train being behind that. I make the assumption that platform 1 will be for shunting and not through running?? Or move the point a bit further back. Some new decoders arrived for me in the post yesterday, so I'll be converting a few other locos in the coming days as well
  2. Many an hour can be happily spent using the map site
  3. how about this link. Often has disused lines shown... https://www.openrailwaymap.org/ Martin
  4. Using local routers in various parts of the house by making use of mains plug in network adapter systems greatly helps, I found there is the capacity of your internet connection and "greediness" of the device connecting to a given Wifi router. Adding a few of these improved the connection stability, especially with kids using devices and streaming things like Netflix and internet radio
  5. To answer my own question. I bought an unused Allegra in the white ABB livery, the accessories have a different bridging board for DCC, that was the bit that I was unclear of from the instructions. Next 18 ESU decoder sourced along with a suitable speaker....another thing to keep me busy over the Christmas and New Year period
  6. Agree, Lindau is a nice spot with lots of variety of rolling stock from Austria, Germany and Switzerland and loads for the kids to do in a lovely island town. For Austria, have you thought about the Zillertal?
  7. resurecting an old thread, has anyone added a sound decoder to an anologue version? I have the chance of a 2nd hand one and the instructions on the Bemo site are not so clear. I know a LokSound next 18 decoder is used and that is easy enough to source, but I was wondering about the speaker and whether the stanard ESU one will fit.
  8. The Ge 4/4 I is earner her keep again back on the RhB....Hoping they keep one or two operational
  9. I've driven past it many times but never had the opportunity to call in
  10. It's a beautiful model and it sounds great....I picked up this version but forgot that I had ordered D2 as well.....it will be an expensive December
  11. there are a couple of photos of the south side of the Landwasser on my Flickr feed and more or many of the different vantage points https://www.flickr.com/photos/151758605@N08/36528789592/in/datetaken/
  12. If you use the car and walk, it is a steep trek up the viewing area on the south side from the valley floor......the path isn't great. When I was last there, I was glad to have trekking poles with me especially as I had a load of camera gear on my back
  13. I always think of the Landwasser/Filisur as being the start of the Albula line proper.....rightly or wrongly I always do a trip there, but agree that Samedan is the place to see more trains. Making use of the car can make seeing trains in different locations, in a short space of time is a good option and I've done it myself when I've stayed in Filisur and Bergun....time spent around the Albula spirals is always interesting.
  14. Agree on the 2 hours. Essentially, unless there are freight trains, you have 2 trains within 10mins and then a 50 minute wait until the next. It might be worth seeing if you can consult one of the graphical timetables to see if there are any freight trains running around the half past the hour, given that the passenger trains in Filisur are just past the top of the hour.....said very badly I know! My first trip to Filisur in 2003 quickly showed that there could be some very long waits and as pretty as the viaduct is, there were limits as to how long I wanted to wait if you want to watch trains running, Bever is not a bad place to be. For the museum, the ticket also gives you entrance to the museum in the village as well. The layout there has been redone, but it only runs at certain times, so it might be worth checking that one out. And yes, kids under 6 are free.....be sure to get the souvenir tickets for them
  15. The campsite in Morteratsch is excellent on the Bernina Bahn, near Pontresina. I've been there with my kids many times As an addition, the other campsites in Berguen and Filisur didn't have electricity hook-up when I looked a few years ago. The one in Morteratsch does and some of the cleanest facilities I've seen at a campsite, a good shop, TV room and a play area for the kids. Its a 15min walk to the station, but you can watch trains roll by on the other side of the river from the campsite. we will go back next August for out annual trip
  16. I saw this a while ago. They "forgot" to pay their social costs and so it does make me wonder given the importance and knowledge of this kind of thing
  17. came across this.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vUxRXbSj-8 worth watching
  18. It was also announced that work had started on doubling the line between Samedan and Bever to improve the flow and punctuality of trains on the Albula and Engadin. I guess a lot of the spoil from the new Albula tunnel will find itself being used there
  19. Oops! It is a nice layout. Yes, the parking is expensive, but it was still a nice day out with my eldest daughter
  20. I went to Eurospoor today....not as good as previous years but I wonder if the show in Friedrichshafen played a part as that show is currently on. Both Dutch RhB layouts where on show, Graubunden and the other who's name I forget. I did manage to get one loco I had been wanting to get for a while....I had been trawling the internet and ebay without success....made the trip worth while despite being stuck on the Antwerp ring on the way back !
  21. I seem to recall that the preseved section was effectivelt evicted. I drove past it one time when going from Kundl in Austria to Visp on a work trip and I decided to go the scenic route. I remember seeing some bits of rollingstock and when I passed the same area when going on holiday to Italy and used the San Bernardino, I looked for it again but couldn't see it. A google search suggested that they had been moved due to road widening from memory...
  22. new on YouTube, for those interested in infrastructure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syBQgNTpDnI&sns=fb
  23. http://www.rhb-info.ch/misoxerbahn.pdf http://www.rhb-info.ch/ a quick glance at the pdf shows some interesting stuff
  24. My confusion, I went to the Dortmund show and the Cologne late last year and had the Graubünden layout in mind after seeing the list for Eurospoor. Always sad for the families left behind, but good that some of modeling legacy lives on. Martin
  25. was this "Graubunden" from some guys in NL? If yes, I see it is down for Eurospoor in Utrecht in early November.
